My big kid starts 2nd grade tomorrow and he is ready and excited to go back. After a week+ of no camps, I am very very excited and ready to get back into the school routine, particularly school lunches and bus transportation.
My little kid started in a new classroom at daycare and was a little sad at drop off but was excited to be the "weather reporter". I hope the new class is more engaging for him because I'm afraid he's getting bored of daycare and not getting much out of it.

I was talking to the big kid about not having recess with his best friend and he was so reasonable and positive about it. Where was this kind of maturity when he was having a meltdown alongside his little brother over a fucking penny?!

Did you know that the 3rd of every month is the busiest day in banking?

My college freshman is thriving so far. She picked a very different college experience than I did, but she's doing well in her classes and seems happy.
The HS junior is still adjusting to the year. She's driving for the first time and Junior Year is a LOT.
Our district killed bus service for those living in a certain radius of the school. So my 4th grader and I have a new bike commute to school that's definitely a big change. This is week 3 of school and it gets a little more "normal" every day. That 40 minutes a day is more exercise than I normally get in a work day so- bonus, sorta?

Did you know that the 3rd of every month is the busiest day in banking? Not sure it is anymore, but it used to be due to government deposits! In semi-related news, when I worked fast food in my rural hometown, we called it "come down from the mountain" day. Lots of people getting government benefits of any sort came to town for shopping on that day. Wonder if it still looks like that now that deposits are more scattered....

I figured it must've been something like that -- I wouldn't be surprised if that was still it.

We got back from Japan last week and all I want is to go back. Doesn’t help that I hate my job and desperately need a new one but the current market sucks. On the plus side DS started grade 5 and moved to the middle school and so far is enjoying it

My little baby is in kindergarten. I didn't cry, but I came pretty close. He was so excited about school, but I had to bring him to before-care since today's an in-office day and none of the other kids his age were there yet. Some of his friends from 4K changed schools and the before-care teacher changed positions so it's someone new this year. I'm sure he was just fine, it was just hard to leave him sitting by himself when normally he'd be joining a game or playing with someone by the time I left.

And then there was the teenager that forgot his Chromebook on the first day of school so I had to brave the traffic chaos to bring that to the school, which made me late to work.
I need to set an alarm to remember to pickup DD after practice tonight.
I'm the default parent for all of the running because of DH's job/schedule. I think I had blocked it from my mind that the school year causes extra stress.

DS2 started 8th grade today. DS1 has been back for two weeks already so we have been in a school routine. DS2 was so not ready for the early morning though!
I took advantage of the first day with just DS2 and we deep cleaned the downstairs today. My house looks so much better!
We have no games this evening which is rare during the week these days. I’m getting ready to take DS2 to the playground before both boys get home from school/practice.

I've been on hold with the internet company for 15 minutes while they calculate how to prorate the final payment. 🫠

When do kids generally start commuting on their own to school on their bikes? We have no sidewalks in our neighborhood and DD made a (scary!) mistake riding our first week. So...not yet! Maybe I'll feel comfortable letting her do it later this year once she has some more practice doing it with me. We stop halfway and pick up one of her friends. Now that it's not quite as miserably hot- it's honestly more pleasant than waiting for the bus or doing the carpool line.

This is the beginning of week 2 for mine and my first week back to full schedule (we have a summer intersession the last two weeks of August, so I was able to finish tasks and then bounce since the library was closed).
I am ready for a real routine.

I just added all the upcoming school events to my calendar- BTS night, fundraisers, chorus, field trips. I'm already tired.

I really need to get passports for my kids. we were there about 2.5 weeks and did Tokyo - Kanazawa - Osaka - Tokyo. It was amazing and I want to be back there, we tried to make sure we did enough fun stuff to keep the 10yo entertained like Universal Studios, Disneysea, crane game centres, so much Pokémon… but also did some history and culture things like shrines and gardens. My favourite things were the food, how clean and safe it feels, the efficiency of transport, the toilets, the public hot baths in the hotels. I just loved everything (except the weather, it was crazy hot), we’re hoping to go back next year preferably in winter

I signed my oldest up for ballet classes. She's really excited and it'll be good for her. I'm just annoyed that they require a particular brand of shoe that can only be ordered *at* their (the dance studio's) boutique, so I have to go down there with her to order them in. They also have very limited hours (4:30 - 7:30 weekdays, not including Mondays) which makes the whole thing feel quite inconvenient. So once she gets dropped off by the bus, we'll be making the trek down there to order the shoes. After all this they better arrive before class starts in 2 weeks.

Did you know that the 3rd of every month is the busiest day in banking? I never remember the specific date, but I remember this every month when I come to work and the parking lot is packed because my office is next to a bank.

My kids have today off, but they've been back to school for several weeks, so we're somewhat in our routine now. My two older kids both have birthdays this month and are both insisting on parties, so I've got to figure that out. When do kids outgrow having birthday parties? I'm kind of over it.

shadows, my DD who turned 11 last month planned and executed her own small party. I just ordered a pizza. It was amazing. I hate planning kid parties, but this I could handle.

September is MH's busiest month at work so I'm not looking forward to it. Lots of stress for him. Kindergarten is going well for DS though. And we decorated for Halloween over the weekend and got a bunch of new stuff.

I'm kind of regretting signing B up for another season of rec soccer because our schedule is already hectic enough, but he needs the physical activity since he's only doing athletics in the second semester after football ends.
I am still enjoying listening to him practice his cello and French horn! I'll never tire of that!

We made it 3 weeks before the wheels fell off for the 14YO, which is a new record for us (in a really bad way). I am over everything at the moment; I just want a sensory deprivation tank and super nanny to fox whatever we did wrong with him.
