We got a semi schedule for dd (PowerSchool app updated) but she gets the real one next week. We start the 22nd.
She only has 2 same teachers from last year. One she liked and one even I was hoping would be moved because she is not that great and it’s DD’s hard subject but she is feeling optimistic.
And her bestie who was the one she often got in trouble with for talking etc moved to a different school and the 2 that are left from the group are the ones who do homework and want good grades so maybe we will have a good year!!
When do other kiddos start??

We don't start until September 5th.
We just sent DD1 to sleep away camp for the week yesterday--and it is so odd having her not home. I fully plan on purging her room today and organizing it. She has a super tiny room and unfortunately has windows so there isn't a lot of room for shelving and things EITHER. Her room is perpetually a disaster because of that.

My kids started today, which is late for us. DD2 was teary while she was getting ready, but seemed okay at drop off (she's in 1st). DS started middle school today, and he said he was excited, not nervous! (It probably helped that he's had sports practice at the school all summer, so he's gotten to know some other kids and teachers through that.) He did text me right after he got there and said he left his schedule and map (that I handed to him this morning!) on the kitchen table, but I'm sure they got that sorted out during homeroom.
I'm glad to have the kids back in school and back in a schedule, but I am not ready for the early mornings and juggling their extracurricular schedules.

Especially because a lot of her things take up space AND we have DD2--so she doesn't want DD2 to touch it either--so it gets crammed into her room and it is a never ending battle. Also her new hobby is crocheting---and she makes gorgeous stuffed animals but yarn is a PITA to store. So it is literally EVERYWHERE-I haven't found a workable solution yet either. I think it will be easier once DD2 gets a little older and more out of the toy phase--she is still in the cross between toddler toys and big kid toys. She has a toy kitchen which she plays with DAILY in her room (she is 6) so I feel like once we outgrow that--we can move the barbies and other toys to her room and use the playroom as more of a craft/guest room. But until then it is a struggle.

I said it in the meal thread, but they start on the 21st and omfg I need them to go back. We usually start the second week of Aug, and this later date is torture. Love my kids, enjoyed the time with them, they are my world. PLEASE GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND STOP TALKING/TOUCHING/HOVERING NEAR ME AT ALL HOURS. It's been an emotionally overwhelming month for me, and I just need the return to routine. {TW DV Spoiler}My sister left her husband at the start of the month. We didn't know it (though I had suspicions that she would not confirm/would not engage on) but she's been suffering horrific abuse for 20 years. She's essentially in hiding right now, awaiting court dates. She does have a protective order, for her and their kids, but he broke it by driving around their neighborhood and emailing her, so he was arrested. He's out though.
He's armed, he's a narcissist, and it's just the start of what is going to be an absolute Hell of a court situation. He's already trying to paint her as bipolar, an alcoholic, etc. And so we just have to trust that the court system - HAHAHAHAH - will see through it and do the right thing. Luckily, she has a great lawyer.
My parents are broken from this. It's just honestly turned all of our worlds upside down.
Please no hair pats or anything. I'm just in such shock and yet not at all surprised, if that makes any sense. I feel like my real sister has been lost to me for two decades, and I could never figure out exactly why. Now I know.

B starts tomorrow, but his school thought it was a great idea to host their Meet the Teacher this morning at 8am instead of after hours sometime last week. So rude.
His first period class is Honors Math. Also so rude in his opinion 😂

Today is my first day back in the office since June 28th. We worked remotely all July and I took the last two weeks off. To say it's been a rough morning is an understatement.

Also going back on the 21st. And his camp for this week was canceled due to low enrollment. So we are piecing together activities so we don’t kill each other this week. A friend is taking him to an amusement park today which I took her son to earlier in the summer. It’s so nice when favors are reciprocated.
I have colonoscopy prep tomorrow for a Wed morning appointment so it’s just going to be a crappy (pun intended) week all around.
But I had a really good weekend so I have to just keep my vibes going. Helped some rescue dogs yesterday and feeling happy about that.

We start back on Wednesday. I am more nervous than she is I think. We get class schedules tonight and can walk around campus tomorrow evening to find classrooms.

We start on the 26 and should have schedules this afternoon.
I have today off but somehow still had two meetings and grocery shopping. Not relaxing!

My kid doesn't go back until 9/4 but this is his last week of camp for the summer. We have one week with H's family next week and then a week and a half off (for him) before school starts. My little kid has a few days off in there as well so maybe a camping trip somewhere but I'm not sure what else we'll do to keep the big kid busy/entertained so I can get some work done.

We found out he is not in the same class as his best friend, which I have been prepping him for. I must have done a really good job because he seems totally fine and I think I am more disappointed than he is.

My kids started today. August is their JumpStart month, so they aren’t required to be there until September 5, but we like for them to do JS. It helps them remember anything they may have lost over the summer and get back in the groove of school before they really buckle down. They do fun stuff like games and getting to know the teacher activities and get out an hour earlier than during the regular year.
DS is in sixth grade and was NOT looking forward to going back. But he just finished a month in Maine with my ILs, so I get it. I would have rather stayed there, too.

DD starts Wednesday! She is very very ready. Like she’s excited and counting down the days. She’s been up at the school nearly every day for the past two weeks helping get the band hall ready so we are already in a bit of a routine there.
Schedules dropped today. She already knows like 3 of her teachers and has heard good things about the others. She has friends in every class except Spanish. No classes with her best friend which is the only bummer for her but they can still hangout before school. So. 8th grade. Let’s do this!

We start in two weeks. I'm so ready 🤣
3 different schools again this year, so it's gonna be busy. The oldest starts 7th grade which is middle school here (not 6th Grade) so she is going to be switching classes and having a different schedule for the first time. We've already gotten her schedule and she figured out she has homeroom with one of her besties and the same lunch period as a lot of her friends so she's happy.
Won't get the class lists for younger two until next week which kinda sucks.

I am annoyed. DD2 has first grade orientation at 1:30 in the afternoon on September 4th--literally on my PD day for going back to school too. Like WHY? Our district does all orientation the week before school starts.
And DD2 is our anxious kid so if we miss it, I know getting on the bus the next day will be 100x worse.
The girls district has a preschool/kindergarten only school, then a 1st-5th grade school, and then middle school and high school. So this is the first time in this school building.

DS1 was supposed to start tomorrow but school has been delayed a week with the tornados that ripped through our area. We got power back the other day but his school was out until this morning.
We’ve had such a great summer and I’m never ready for him to go back. I can’t believe he’s a junior already!

DIL has two xlarge plastic drawers that stack in her closet with so much yarn in them some use a stufffed animal hammock or even the zippered bean bag chair things instead of filling with stuffed animals fill with your yarn stash lol, but I think that just encourages buying more and more and more. Id think a diaper type bag with pockets on the inside and the outside would be good for crochet on the go carry around the house kinda thing.

My husband just got back from moving my youngest from wa to berkeley. They had a blast driving down the coast and talking about everything in the world nonstop. DH was giggling telling me about it so I knew he was enjoying it. Son starts the fellowship symposium training whatevers today. Only problem with his shared flat is there's no room to add his food since the one roomate has been on his own all summer and filled all the space.
Oldest is heading into study like a crazy person for finals on NP Pathophysiology and it's beating him up.
Newest grandson just decided to nurse nonstop so dil keeps texting me, is this normal? How many times a day CAN and SHOULD a 2 week old nurse and things like that. There's nothing out of the ordinary except she's had a couple of extremely low blood sugars which she's finally putting together that she gets a migraine a few hours before she's going to go low. almost 4 yr old grandson is over the baby and would like to have his mom back. I go over every 3 ish days and grandson comes over here once a week.
I've been dealing with a non totally functional refrigerator for a month as of tomorrow. It's got a warranty and they keep coming out and changing a part and then saying give it 24 hours and it will be fine and it starts beeping again. I've been adding frozen gallon jugs of water to the fridge every day so it's been the temp of like a xl ice chest, and we do have a garage fridge
but I want my fridge back! the freezer is working fine so it's not like the compressor or freon or whatever. I've thrown away too many things as there wasn't room for alllll the stuff from inside fridge in outside fridge and I keep going shit forgot to move the hot dogs or lunch meat. aaaaarrrrrgggg

Our district starts back the 26th. Although for middle school, only the 6th graders go Monday so DD1 will start the 27th. I think they are both excited. DD2 will have the same teacher she had for kindergarten. She is a newer teacher and had such a positive attitude. Even H said something after conferences last year.
We went to Target yesterday for backpacks and lunchboxes. Even with 2 weeks left, there wasn’t much to pick from. Our district provides basic supplies. UO: I’m kind of bummed that we don’t get to shop for those.

Oldest also decided she's gonna use her backpack again this year. She has a nice LL Bean one with her nickname on it and she hasn't used it the past 2 years cuz backpacks weren't cool. She used a little tote she had instead, which whatever. They didn't have to ever bring books home at her old school so it wasn't a big deal. Now I guess they're cool again and hers is cool cuz it's personalized. This age man 🤣

DS lost his damn mind this weekend and convinced himself I was going to get him a $145 Nike tech sweatshirt. This is the kid I lovingly call pig pen because he leaves a trail of his belongings behind him. We constantly have people leaving stuff on our porch that he’s left at their house or the park.
Anyways, I introduced him to Ross and Marshall’s instead.

H was a new back back every year and just didn’t get why they don’t care about them anymore
