My kids start August 26. A full week to start and people are losing their minds.
The older two are doing art camp a few days this week. We are all a little squirrelly and need a routine.

Dd said last night she can’t wait to go to school and do her work She is trolling me. It will last week 1 😂😂 But she got her eyes checked last night and picked new glasses and she looked so grown up with them on Ughhhhh I definitely need to schedule eye appointments. I should have done it during the summer, but time has a way of getting away from me...

2 wewks old today. I know and agree, at that age it was a blur of feed sleep change diaper snd repeat ad nauseum. She seems so focused on the numbers from whatever app she's using. One time the question was 9 latchings in 9 hours. I was like ok each Feed at this age nurse on both sides so that was only 4 feeds in 9 hours so every 2 hours sounds normal to me lol Hah every two hours definitely sounds about right. I fed my babies probably every hour when they were that little, but I’ve also mostly done block feeding (from one side at a time) because I tend to be an oversupplier (very thankful for that) and couldn’t get them to eat more than from one side. Anyhoo I hope she figures out something that makes her feel less out of control. That ages is definitely the hardest imo, at least as far as nursing goes. Some of it is she is definitely just complaining to me about baby stuck to the boob all the time. She's mostly block feeding so at some times it's definitely nursing every hour. Baby's above birth weight gaining well. I've been reassuring her that it all is pretty Normal. Last time around her dr wouldn't discharge her from hospital until he drank a bottle of formula cause she couldn't pump any colostrum. It was pandemic so she wanted out of there but as new mom and she didn't know me well enough to listen no LC support it quickly became just bottles of formula. She wants to nurse longer this time so she's trying more

AmyG is she pumping too? My doctor had me pump to show that I wasn’t getting as much milk as I probably thought which is why dd would eat more. The constant nursing is what made me stop and do formula we were already supplementing with anyway Is she worried she is feeding to much or just exhausted? I'll suggest she check another app to be sure it's not increasing nursing worries. She's exhausted but she also is really not sure what's normal. I haven't seen anything out of the ordinary in her nursing, latch is fine, there's plenty of milk, she can pump milk vwey easily but is being cautious in how often to pump so supply doesn't go crazy. As it seems she has a pretty high supply

AmyG, reading through your summary the possibility that DIL is dealing with some (or a lot) of post partum anxiety jumped out at me, especially the hyper fixation on nursing. Has the pediatrician expressed any concern about weight gain? Can DIL reach out to a lactation consultant to see about checking in for latch issues, do a weighted feed, and discuss everything going on and getting her and the baby seen by someone trained to spot PPA? Or maybe I am just projecting what I now know was PPA with both my kids to your DIL. I can’t help with apps. When my kids were brand new we were discharged from the hospital with a paper to keep track of wet and poop diapers. She's had dr appts and done the anxiety etc screen already. She has seen LC and she's I think worrying as the app she's using makes everything seem suspect on what appears to be a normal nursing baby. Latch is fine weight gain is great and he does sleep a long bit every 24 hours and has good awake tines that he's not at the breast.

If the app is giving her anxiety because it’s saying it’s to much or whatever I wouldn’t use another app I would do paper and pencil or something else. If the doctors aren’t worried she shouldn’t be either. Babies eat a lot or comfort nurse or cluster feed it’s completely normal. It’s also exhausting which is why woman chose to switch to formula too. I felt like the first 6 weeks I was home I was sleeping or nursing

My kids go back next Monday and have meet the teacher tonight. H is taking DS1 but DS2 doesn't want to leave gymnastics early to go. He said "I already know all the teachers". Lol Add me to the ready to stop packing lunches for camp, list.

My kid started 3rd grade today. We got teacher assignments over the weekend and found out that our teacher is leaving for another role within the district. I have requested a meeting with the principal asap and to be moved to a different class. We already went through this in 1st with subs for half the year, and it was a disaster for my kid. On a scale of 1 to burn it down, how hard is it okay to push? I’ve tried to trust the process and the professionals previously, but I regret that now after the 1st grade experience. I wouldn't go full burn it down yet. I would email the request to all involved: teacher, guidance, AP and Principal. Trying to accomplish your needs in writing is probably more efficient and you have a record of the conversation. Ask if they have a replacement already, are they long term or a sub? Find out the answers, explain your concerns and go from there. Also, check your district's website and see if the job is posted, just to verify what they tell you. (All our job postings are public) At our school we get further with a "firm, friendly" approach. We have a couple parents that go full burn it down every year and admin just ignores them now. Play the long game. Thank you, I was able to meet with the principal this morning after emailing my concerns yesterday and consulting with a friend who works at our school. They are able to move him to a different class starting tomorrow. I try to be an involved parent at the school and have good relationships with everyone, and I feel very relieved to have been heard and supported.

I finally met with a new PCP after going an embarrassingly long time without having a regular healthcare provider, and I don’t know why my stupid anxiety made it so hard to schedule the appointment. Just having someone else schedule everything that I’m (way) overdue on, and all I have to do is show up, is such a relief. And, also, you know, anxiety meds.

Making appointments is also super hard for me with my anxiety. I always appreciate being able to make appointments online. The first step is the hardest, but you are doing good things for yourself. I know I am just an internet stranger, but I’m proud of you!

For some reason it’s easier to make the appt. when they call me back instead of just calling directly. I have to trick myself into it. Lol

I nominated my grandma to be a super senior at our local minor league baseball game and she was chosen! She gets to throw out the first pitch this afternoon. One of my favorite memories as a kid was watching baseball with her and my grandfather so we’re all excited. She’s going to be 90 next month and this has made her year!

DD1 looks like she is having a fantastic time at camp--I see daily pictures posted. I can't wait to hear all about it when DH picks her up on Sunday.

Our camp used to do photos MWF and now they do them every day. I love it.

Any recs for shorts to wear under dresses? With or without pockets - available in plus size - long enough to prevent the thigh chafing. Bonus points if a little tummy control, but nothing that will cause extra heat.
The forecast for our vacation is near 90 and I have a couple of athletic dresses that I usually just wear around the house but could probably wear in public withe right undergarment.

Screening colonoscopy done and dusted. Clean bill of health.
Definitely worth doing and was only really annoying for less than 24 hours. Peace of mind and the rest of the day off work totally worth it.

Good for you for taking care of your health, jaygee, and can attest, having had one last December, it's so worth it.

Definitely get some off Amazon like sewf suggested. That's what we did for a concert with a "no bag" policy. The pockets on the sides wear a life saver and if my dress hiked up a bit it didn't matter. I don't remember what brand I got but there's a ton to choose from.

bearfootzcontinued, my Target ones are my favorite. I straddle right between regular and plus sizes; I have some from both. The Ava & Viv ones have lasted me 4? years and still look great. They get worn at least weekly and have held up really well. They don't have pockets if that's important. All my ones with pockets also have compression to them so not quite as comfy.

DS starts school Tuesday and tomorrow is back to school night. We still hadn't gotten his teacher letter (His got lost in the mail last year too... Maybe we should stop mailing them? Anyway.) and the phone line was down (seriously, wtf) so DH went to the school to ask. He ended up with my third choice out of three, although I don't think there's a single "bad" teacher in that school. His little bully from last year is in our first choice teacher's class, though, so blessing in disguise I suppose.
They did split up him and his two besties into the three separate classes, so that blows. Guess we'll be making lots of new friends this year.
