McBenny , yikes! When does she move in? Since she just got a room assignment and you have to sign up for a move in time, we have nothing left but Monday at 2pm. I am trying to calm myself at this moment. You got this!

I had a feeling this dumb shit would happen. What she needs in a hotel and what she needs in a dorm room is totally different. I am scrambling to update her Amazon wish list because some family wanted to get her gifts for graduation, and she did a wish list and told them they could buy off of there if they wanted too. We didn't have dorm things on there yet. Oh well. I had her ready for a hotel move in and to find this out today 4 days out, I am trying to calm myself. The most important is for her to have her bed and shower things I guess, and I can bring or send her more things later (at least this is what I am telling myself). SD packed less than I thought she would have, because truly they don't NEED much to start. Bedding, towels, and toiletries for sure. All the chargers (SD realized she forgot the charger to her electric razor, for example). So much else will depend on what kind of room she's in and what the school provides. Have her sign up for Target's student discount so she can get 20% off anything she realizes she needs in the next week or so. Yeah, we had not bought anything because we did not have an assigned dorm so we had no clue as to what would be provided and what would not be provided. It will work out. There is nothing stopping me from mailing her things or making another trip to bring her stuff.

Yes those are the most important things to me honestly! That first week or so there will be so much going on that she may not spend a ton of time in there. Plus being there she may think of things she needs more than some of the other stuff on the lists they send She will be 4 hours away.

We got back from NY on Monday, and H left for a conference Wed morning. He’s not feeling well today and just tested positive for Covid. DS has a stuffy nose. I’m about to go down too, aren’t I? 😩

Before I forget, sending healing vibes to you and your family loony. Those types of illnesses can be the worst. thatgolfb - great news about your mom and I do believe what the medium said too. I need to calm myself before I give myself nervous diarrhea. Does anyone else do that?

You can imagine me in your case moving a kid to another state and not sure what they'll need. Have done that twice now for college/univ/fellowship for my youngest and it's total anxiety city!! My son at first was at univ. 2.5 hours away but small town = not much for delivery except walmart to the rescue!! Amazon order would take a week to get there and target was really close but they didn't do delivery or pick up barely when he started school. You'll be fine but I do have lists upon lists if you'd like to be overloaded in lists by someone who manages their anxiety by making lists. lol

I also sleep bad and pulled a muscle in my shoulder. It was in between the shoulder blades. I took a muscle relaxer and icy hot and felt great one day. Then it came back higher up in my shoulder and arm area. Now it hurts when I type (which I do all day) and my bra strap just hurts sitting on the area too.
I am miserable.

McBenny,Take that muscle relaxer at night for a couple days, lay on some ice right there, add in some motrin, beg for a massage, ditch the bra if you can. sorry you are hurting

Thank you McBenny. And good luck to your DD. I’m sure everything will work out, but I would be just as stressed as you are right now.

McBenny I definitely get nervous poops but never have I been able to calm myself out of them 😅 something for me to aspire to! But seriously, hoping your back/shoulder releases soon and I know you’ll get your DD all set up and prepared. 💕

Both kids were good today, so they get to do their last day of camp and their performances this weekend. DD would have been devastated. She’s got her lines down and her costumes all ready. Good luck with move-in!

That makes it a little harder but everyone delivers there so you are right she can get whatever you or anyone sends her. I do agree with the gift cards that people can get her so she can buy as she needs things

Is 5 too old for a stroller? (he's small for his age and still fits ok) We plan to spend a day at Dollywood and I know it will be a ton of walking and the teenagers will want to do some of the bigger rides themselves. Last year when we went to the amusement park we kept DS2 busy all morning then he napped in the afternoon. Naps are few and far between these days, but I'm guessing he might get tired out from all the walking so I'm wondering if I should bring the stroller so he has somewhere to rest later in the day.
Think there's any chance I'd actually get a 5 year old to sit in a stroller? I don't care too much if I get judgey looks - but don't want to take up the space in the vehicle if unnecessary.

I keep stalking the camp app from pictures from yesterday--they upload them in the morning between 8:30 and 10:30. Nothing yet. I must have refreshed it a million times.

bearfootzcontinued DS2 is 6 1/2 and places that require a lot of walking we still take the stroller so we don’t have to listen to him complain how tired he is to walk (he’s also small so I think his little legs just struggle to keep up with all of us).

It is so much walking and it was way easier for me to push her than try to hold her hand in the crowd. She had on a Fitbit day one and she had like 25k steps. No shame

We ended up renting a stroller at Disney for my then 6 year old. He never liked riding in a stroller, but after day 1 and all the walking, he requested it for the rest of our trip. Is there a rental option at Dollywood?

No shame I mean I wish someone would push me around in a stroller in the August heat. Hand me a cold beverage and I'm good. No judgement 😅

Bluebird, yes, they do have a rental option. Sweetjane, that would be amazing. But honestly, the one time we went to Dollywood there were probably more adults on the motorized scooters than there were kids in strollers.

The bad news: DS is very much acting his age this week, and testing every single one of my nerves
The good news: he is much more amenable to potty training than the girls were, and voluntarily uses the race car potty we got him!

I’ve been traveling for work since Saturday and am so ready to go home. I’m currently in the airport lounge. I upgraded myself to first class because it was cheap. And gods forbid if DH expects anything from me this weekend. I was at a conference for most of it to get my education which meant networking and peopling. The second part was a work meeting (I was in multiple cities). I just need to not be by people. I need my dogs, cat, kids (maybe), and husband (maybe) and a dark room.

DD2 is having her first friend sleepover tonight. She and the neighbor and super close--literally they bounce between houses all day. And she was invited to sleepover. This is our shy, quiet kid who didn't talk for the first 4 months of Pre-K and we picked her up every day in tears because she had to go to the bathroom and refused to ask the teacher.
We will see how this goes. The good thing is it is a perfect house to trial it-literally right across the street so if I need to pick her up I can. She has slept over her babysitter's house before-usually every couple of months since she was 3 or 4. So she can sleepaway from home-but her babysitter is more like a third grandma (in fact she is closer to her that she is to her grandmas).
But DD1 is in camp. DH drove up tonight because he has to pick her up super early and didn't want to do the six hour roundtrip in a day. And now DD2 is gone. Literally I have no clue what to even do with myself.

I have a personal brag. I have been coordinating a team volunteer event at work with a local organization that specializes in introducing STEM to girls. I was responsible for creating the deck and writing the "script" for the presentation, I created a custom word search and made props for the little trivia section and got all of the supplies for the hands-on building activity we did. The event was Wednesday, and I was so nervous, but I killed it. I ended up being the MC and giving the presentation (the rest of my team was there to actually field and answer the technical questions) and the whole thing was a huge success. The woman who runs the event said that ours was one of the best presentations they have had because we kept it so fun and interactive. My boss and the rest of the team gave me all kinds of glowing feedback and one of them messaged me this morning thanking me again and telling me how grateful he is to have me on the team.
