What is your favorite beer/s?
Favorite brewery?

I'm more into wine than beer but I've recently become obsessed with Sweet Baby Jesus from DuClaw. It's a chocolate peanut butter porter.

My favorites are Pliny the Elder by Russian River, Heady Topper by Alchemist, and Sip of Sunshine by Lawson's. I clearly prefer IPAs. My favorite local beer is Oops, I Hopped My Pants by Sand City.
My favorite local brewery is Sand City, with Barrier Brewing a close second. My fave non-local is either Russian River or Ommegang.
We do beer trades with people in the midwest and west coast to try out new stuff.

Yes to Pliny the Elder/Russian River as my favorite. My sister and BIL used to live so close to there which was the best. They're in Portland now, so still good beer scene.
We have some big local breweries the distribute nationally, Goose Island being the big one. Revolution brewery is another which I love but I think they are only in the Midwest, plus their restaurant is delicious.
But one brewery I really like is a small local one, Solemn Oath. There are quite a few others popping up too.

Favorites are so tough. I am an IPA fan, though I also enjoy a good stout or porter.
Southern Tier makes a lot of good brews. Their 2X is really good. I'd probably rank that as a favorite.
We also just tried Pako IPA from Snake River Brewing. That was awesome.
Locally Middle Ages Wailing Wench is another favorite. And Empire Brewing Co Black Magic Stout on nitro is amazing!!!

lucilleaustero, - I love Ommegang's Nirvana. If you haven't tried it, it's definitely a must have.

My favorite beer right now is a barrel aged vanilla porter from Empyrean Brewing. We have a lot of good local breweries here so it's hard to pick just one, but will give the edge to Peace Tree. For the Midwest in general though, I agree with jojo and would pick Revolution.

I'm alllll about the beers! I'm not an IPA fan, although my husband is. So neither of the Plinys are on my hit list. I'm much more of a Saison girl. Although lately we've been drinking a lot of sours/gose. We drink a lot of local beers in my house, because we're lucky enough to live where there are...a lot of local beers.
I love Lost Abbey Red Barn, Bernardus ABT 12, Ballast Point Barmy, and Garage Brewery Ginger Kolsch.
My favorite brewery is Garage Brewing Co.

My favorites are Pliny the Elder by Russian River, Heady Topper by Alchemist, and Sip of Sunshine by Lawson's. We found Heady Topper (by chance) in a tiny beer store connected to a cider mill the last time we were in Vermont. It was awesome. Current favorite breweries are Two Roads (I've liked everything we tried, especially the double IPA) and Ommegang. I also enjoy most Lagunitas beers, and I love Trois Pistoles and Maudite from Unibroue.

Is this where I confess that a large part of my business is making hot sauces with craft beers (including Heady Topper)? So I have a pretty awesome beer fridge at work.
For my drinking pleasure though, I love Anchor Steam from San Francisco and Switchback from Vermont. Queen City Brewery and Zero Gravity in Vermont have some pretty awesome selections too. Overall I prefer malty to hoppy beers.

Not because I care if y'all know who I am IRL, but because I don't want this forum to come up when someone googles my bakery (I noticed that that happened back on TCF). So if you google "Heady Topper Hot Sauce" basically every single result is about my bakery. I make the hot sauce that The Alchemist sells at their shop and I do a variety of micro batches of craft beer hot sauces now. But after fall peppers come in I'm going to be debuting a whole line of craft beer hot sauces for regional distribution.

thebanich, it isn't strong. At all. I was a little hesitant at first, but it is the perfect amount of spice. I would never steer one wrong when it comes to beer.

We can get a few of their brews here but the wet hopped we have seen once in 8 years.

Making hot sauce was kind of accidental for the bakery, but is now over half of sales. I'm REALLY excited about the craft beer hot sauces and can't wait until I have enough peppers to make it a reality (I buy and freeze peppers every fall).

Okay, so I can admit this here. My husband and I used to review craft beers all the time. Like write out reviews and compare them. We learned quickly not to try too many in one night because the reviews for the first and second beer would be all techincal and wordy and by the end it would be like "fucking good beer" or "yummy", so not at all a review.
We wanted to keep a blog called Beer: He Said/ She Said, but never put up any of our written reviews up anywhere.
