We did newborn pics this morning. DS2 refused to fall asleep the whole time!
We were able to get some family and brother shots too. I should get the pics next week and I'm excited to see them!

We moved DD to her own room last night because I was sleeping on the couch because any little noise wakes me up so DH was with her in our room. I thought I'd get some good sleep but no. Our smoke detector battery went dead at 3am so it started "chirping" very loudly. Of course it was also on our twelve foot high ceiling so DH had to get a ladder. Then dd2 fought her swaddle the rest of the night so it was not very restful.

Seriously why do smoke dectors always die in the middle of the night! Itās like a conspiracy.

We had 5 die in the middle of the same night this summer. It was ridiculous.

Took baby to her first ped appt this afternoon. All is looking well with her. She's only down an ounce since we were discharged from the hospital (she was down 8oz from birth weight at discharge), so that's good. We'll do a weight check next week. But I overdid it today with carrying her in the carseat, extra walking, etc. I passed a big clot when we got home. I'm still pretty sore everywhere too, so I really need to take it easy.
In good news, my milk is coming in! Yay! Took a lot longer with DS, so it's nice that we're starting off strong this time. Nursing has been going well. My nipples are a bit sore today, but they're starting to callus up already, so hopefully the painful stage won't last too long. I have to say - I am happy to be nursing again š

We go in at 10 today to be induced. I was already 4cm at my doctors appointment on Thursday so hopefully they just get these contractions going and Iāll have my baby boy in my arms this afternoon. Iāll update when I can. š

I do not enjoy the newborn phase. Yesterday I had DD attached to me in some way almost all day and was so "touched out" by the time DH got home. I'm having to rock, wear, do whatever I can to get DD to sleep for like an hour and a half + sometimes and it's wearing me out.
What do you/did you do with your newborn to get them to sleep? DD doesn't cry or anything she just stares at me. Everything I've read said they should only be awake for 30-45 minutes but even if I immediately start trying to get her to sleep after feeding she still is awake for 2+ hours sometimes.

LC visit and weight check this morning. I didn't really need LC help but she was an amazing resource with DS1 and I love her so the appointment was more just to see her.
Turns out DS2 does have a bit of a posterior tongue tie but we're not going to do anything about it right now because he can still latch correctly and pain-free for me.
DS2 is up to 8lb 4oz so he has surpassed birth weight and has gained 8oz since his post-discharge weight check 10 days ago. It's nice not worrying about weight gain like we did for DS1!

Dd2 is gaining weight so much faster than dd1 did which is such a relief to not be worried about it!

This little girl is a champ. She is back up to her birth weight at 5 days out. Granted that means she is nursing NONSTOP, but she is certainly eating.

It definitely proved true for us.

brenna any tricks that work for getting baby to sleep one day goes out the window the next. We have really clingy days (yesterday) and days where he falls asleep on his playmat and I throw a blanket over him and back away quietly (today.) No real advice, I just try a mix of everything. Swing, crib, carrier, rnp, the floor, the couch, fresh air to try and reset him.

At my appt yesterday my doctor seemed to have forgotten I was scheduled for a c-section and was talking about induction. I am annoyed because Iāve been seeing him for at least 5 years now. At least look at your notes before going in the exam room.

Seems like there are a few of us whose firsts were slow weight gainers! My DS was 5th-8th percentile until he was two! It was such a huge stress. I hope we can all be more stress free about weight gain this time š

I hope we can all be more stress free about weight gain this time š DS1 was born around 60% and steadily dropped to 7-8%. He finally settled in to that growth curve and had stayed there since. His 2 year appointment is Thursday, I'm really curious to know where he's at now.

HOW does baby have enough room to flip at 41 weeks?! Sending you hugs and best wishes for a smooth c section. You're so close to meeting baby!!

MH is gonna try to take DS to the zoo today. I'm hoping to do nothing but nurse and eat and nap! Maybe a load of baby laundry.

My MIL is coming over this afternoon to watch DD, DH and I are going to the movies with the baby. Our local movie theatre has one showing a week thatās baby friendly- they have a changing table in the theatre, they lower the volume and leave the lights on a bit. Itās $2 cheaper than a regular movie and they play whatever happens to be out. Today itās āA Simple Favourā. Iām excited because I loved going to these when DD was a baby and itāll be fun to go with DH too while heās still off work.
