I think DS is getting a little cold. He rarely gets sick - why now?! Such horrible timing 😣

Lily is one month old today and DD is going to be two tomorrow! It's crazy that it's already been a month (labor seemed like a long time ago!) I'm definitely starting to feel the sleep deprivation and hoping this next month brings a little more sleep 🙂

We are still at the hospital. My milk is starting to come in. Once I can pump 20 ml we can stop giving formula. My last session was 13 so hopefully in the next day. I was told I should pump and supplement with each feed for the next few weeks because she’s not an efficient eater yet. We are moving towards good home tomorrow. She has to pass a car seat challenge before we can go. So they are going to do that tonight just Incase she doesn’t pass we can try again in the morning because you have to wait 12 hours between trials.

I’m in disbelief that we are down to single digit days to baby at this point. I’m such a routines person and this is going to turn my world upside down, I know in a good way but still it’s a little nerve wrecking. Our world has revolved around DD in so many ways and I can’t really imagine another even though she’s just days away. I don’t know... really in my feelings right now.

I got to go to my Game of Thrones concert last night and it was amazing!!!! MH had a hard time getting DS2 to settle and sleep but it went ok and he took his bottles no problem. I was nice to get out, have a couple drinks, and see an awesome show. For anyone who likes tropical mixed drinks, I highly recommend trying this. They had it at the show as a specialty drink for the evening and it was delicious.

Last night I let DH be on baby duty and I only woke up once to pump. It was amazing getting more than two hours of sleep at a time and having a little break from dd. I'm feeling refreshed this morning 🙂

Hugs teambrink the end is so hard in so many ways 💓 Feel your feels and snuggle your DD a little extra while she's still your only. And don't worry, when you hold both of your babies crammed in your lap your heart will explode 💗

We're going to try to do newborn/family photos at the park this Wednesday. I hope the weather cooperates. I need to buy an outfit for DD (still don't have any girl clothes in newborn size!), possibly a shirt for DS and I need to figure out what the heck I'm gonna wear 😕

We were just told we get to go home today! I’m so excited to be in the comfort of my own home but a little panicked about being home with 2.

WWYD - I'm trying to figure out the logistics of bedtime for DS when I'm home alone. If DD is asleep in the baby glider/swing should I leave her sleeping there while I put DS to bed?? His bedroom is upstairs and with his sound machine on, I wouldn't be able to hear her cry if she woke up 😕 My other options are to put her in her bassinet upstairs (still wouldn't be able to hear her if she cried), or bring her into DS's room and put her in the bouncer seat. Last night I tried having her in DS's room. She woke up and cried as soon as I put her in the bouncer seat. I ended up having to nurse her with DS also crammed on my lap while trying to read bedtime stories. She finished eating when we finished our books, so then I was able to put her in the bouncer and rock DS while lightly bouncing her seat with my foot. So it ended up working out, but it felt chaotic and not ideal.... Unfortunately I think this is the way I'm going to have to do it, because if she's anywhere else I won't be able to hear her. Or, maybe I could set up the baby monitor by her bassinet? Even then, if she starts crying what am I going to do? I still need to get DS to bed!!
Tl;Dr how are you doing bedtime by yourself with two young littles??!?

tbirdlove I’ve had this bedtime problem too. What I ended up doing was leaving DS in his rock and play downstairs while I went upstairs and put DD to bed. I just tried to shorten DD’s bedtime routine as much as possible to minimize time apart from DS. We read stories downstairs do basically I just took her upstairs, changed her into her PJs and put her in her bed. 5 mins tops. Not ideal I guess but I couldn’t think of a better way. If DS was awake I would have brought him upstairs with me.

tbirdloveNot exactly the same situation but DD does not do nap time solo so I had to come up with a plan when I began nannying a 3 month old in January. My solution was the bouncer seat in the room with me and DD. Occasionally we had bad days but overall, it worked and they often both fell asleep.

Can’t sleep. Keep dreaming of my water breaking and DD got in our bed in the middle of the night and she’s a wild sleeper. It’s going to be a long day.

tbirdlove - How long does the bedtime routine take?

Nymeria depends on how big of a pita DS is being and how much fighting is involved 😉 But on a good night a half hour-ish. The only part where I wouldn't be able to hear her downstairs would be 10 mins or so when we rock with the sound machine on. Last night I tried leaving her asleep in the glider and it was fine. I kept the door open a little when I rocked DS. I think I'm afraid to leave her alone because of the way DS would choke on spit up. It was terrifying. But she's not much of spitter-upper - so far, thank heavens! - so she should be fine. Even when I'm downstairs and she's in the glider I'm not sitting there watching her every second.

I had to get my monitors out so I could do bedtime alone, I have only done it twice so far so I don't have much experience. It has been a little crazy and bedtime is taking me a lot longer than it used to while I juggle both kids.

I am a bit of a mess today, my SS's mom called me to let me know that she is at the ER with her daughter who has HFM. SS was with us yesterday for few hours so he could have it and not be showing symptoms yet, so I am so afraid that the baby could have been exposed to it. SS is supposed to spend the night with us tonight but he is going to go to her house instead because he was there last night after visiting with us.
I feel guilty, if SS doesn't have it I am sending him into a house that does- so I feel selfish. He is 8 so he is not nearly as high risk to get it as the younger kids but I still feel bad like I am setting him up to get sick.
Now I am going to over analyze how much my kids eat, how irritable they seem and continually check their temperatures today. I also put a call in to talk to the NP at the cardiologist office to see what she says and give them a heads up.
I only 4 days into this diagnosis and feel like I am not handling it well at all.
