MH and I went shopping today. We were originally looking for PJs for DD but that was a bust. So we ended up looking for dairy free substitutes for foods. Our kosher Kroger has a decent selection. I plan on venturing to TJs next week by myself, with DS in tow.

ftwr, at first I was a bit overwhelmed I felt like I just got my freedom back to eat as I please after the GD- but it is a lot easier than I expected. We have the green mucus stools as well and a lot of reflux, so he eats pretty much constantly to make up for the spitting up. He also has labored breathing and heart murmur so we see a pediatric cardiologist tomorrow to just to check that out so I might be cutting out the dairy just for fun- dr. google says the eating and the heart murmur/breathing combo could be all related.

That's interesting! DD had a murmur but not the other symptoms It would be nice if they were all related. DS has to get checked for Cystic Fibrosis next month. So worst case is it's actually related to that, best case is MSPI or foremilk/hindmilk issues so I've started block feeding as well.

ftwr, also you may already know this but it can take a couple of weeks to see a difference with cutting diary so dont be alarmed if you do not see changes right away.

This is my first go around with MSPI so I don't really know much other than I've completed a Whole 30 before so I should be able to do this. I'm hoping he improves. I feel like I'm grasping at straws.

Today has been a rough day. I feel like I'm not doing a good job of taking care of either DD and I don't know what I can do to fix that.

I think I need to work on getting a deeper latch. Sometimes I'm getting the lipstick shape, or my nipple is kind of flattened with the white line across the tip when she unlatches. It's not painful while she's nursing though.
The hospital was out of the ear buds needed to do the newborn hearing exam when DD was born. So I have to take her back to the hospital to have that test done. I think I'll try to see a lactation consultant while I'm there too.

These Braxton Hicks suck!!!! I'm so glad I didn't notice any with DD. It's been like a week and yesterday it felt like every 10 mins my stomach was hard as a rock. So uncomfortable.
I finally was able to put some stuff up on the walls in the "baby room" and his sheets were delivered!

I hope you are having a better day today- I am sure you are doing fine its so hard to not get overwhelmed. I drink almond milk as much as possible and just take calcium pills. I probably don't get enough calcium still but I do my best. Today has still been kind of rough. DD was awake for three hours and I tried everything to get her to sleep. Lack of sleep is very anxiety inducing for me so I don't handle it well when I can't get DD to sleep. 😕

When you start feeling anxious do you walk away from her at all? I find stepping away even for 30 seconds and coming back allows me to collect myself and calm down. I swear babies pick up on our vibe super easy and can tell when we are stressed- then they dont relax either.

We saw the cardiologist today, the little guy has two holes in his heart. One is small and fairly common, they expect it to heal on its own. The second hole is large and is causing extra blood to flow to his lungs, weighing them down. She described his lungs as soggy- this is causing him to have labored breathing. That hole may heal on its own but it is large enough that he may require surgery to repair. We will have nurses visit the house a couple of times a week to check his vitals and we go back in a month to see if the holes are healing at all.
They stressed how important it is to keep him from getting sick which seems so hard to with kids in daycare and school- also my H works in a prison and goes back tomorrow. So I will be sanitizing the house like crazy now.

Oh wow meggriffin...that is a lot to take in, I’m sorry. FWIW, my oldest brought home all manner of illnesses from daycare but DS2 never actually got sick until he went to daycare himself. Hopefully your LO will be fine as well.

Sorry to hear the news meggriffin. I hope they both heal on their own and he doesn't get sick in the meantime.
