J is really abusing his ability to say NO. "MORE" "More... oatmeal?" NOD... "NO" "MORE" "More milk?" NOD... "NO" "MORE" (for some reason help = more) "Do you need help with your spoon?" NOD... I try to help him spoon the oatmeal. "NO" "NO NO NO NO NO" Does he have an attitude with it? Mines all NOOOOO!! complete with sass Sometimes. Mostly he is just very matter-of-fact about it, though I usually imagine it being followed by "you idiot".

He will also only let me read four books ever. As soon as I finish one, he'll insist I read it again, until I offer one of the four acceptable books. At this rate, I can never read him a new book and he'll still be reading "Goodnight Gorilla" as he goes off to college. It's such a boring book to read and I'm starting to make shit up as I go through the pages.

Do you all only live on one floor or have super large homes? We have 1500sft divided between two floors. How do you prevent it from falling down stairs? I need more coffee because I totally thought the 'it' you were referring to was a child. So much confused. You are not alone

DD really, really enjoys the Duck & Goose series. We have 3, and at the end it's always "Again." When they go to the library, she will find them on the shelves and bring them over to be read. I hate those books.
She says "Nah" for no, and so I currently find it funny when she says no. Even when she's asked "Do you want to give Mama a hug goodbye?" "Nah."

Mine says no like a ventriloquist. The other day I asked him if he wanted to try a piece of potato, he said no as he put it in his mouth, I asked him if it was good, and he said no as he takes it out of his mouth. Well okay then.

I wish I could tell you it gets better, but I've lost track of how many times DS has requested Darth Vader and Son for his bedtime story lately. He has most of it memorized and "reads" it to me. Sometimes I can hide a book and he'll pick something different, but not this one. At least it's a fun read. For now.

We have Vader's little princess and I find it painful to read as a bedtime story because it's set up like a comic. I find myself skipping huge sections or just have her look at the pictures and we'll work on naming the characters.

DS2 has this book about his name and when he was born that my BFF sent. I've read it so many times that I know it by heart. He'll look at it on the floor and I'll recite it while folding laundry.
I've almost got Little Blue Truck memorized too.

I think J is going through another leap. And/or teething. He didn't eat anything for dinner last night and cried through most of bedtime but somehow managed to sleep from 7:20 to 7AM, the latest and longest he has ever slept in his life. I did give him a pacifier and motrin because he was so bad but we've had mixed results with pacifiers before so I don't *think* that was it. He was still grumpy as heck in the morning though.

He also insisted I turn on the robot vacuum this morning but he cried when it got too close to him. He just wants to watch at a safe distance. I tried to show him how to use the remote to stop it when it gets too close. No robots in our life but DD is like this with every animal. Squeals/smiles/waves and tries to run from me to get to whatever animal. But when she gets close and the animal looks at her she cries. This is me. Only a slight exaggeration. Sure that stray cat looks sweet, but it obviously has rabies and really just wants to sink its teeth in my leg. Those dolphins? Only fun to watch from the shore. In the water their goal is probably to hold me under till I drown.

I’ve officially made my children terrified of the roomba.
I just go near it, and DS2 starts grabbing his ears and screaming. I turned it on the other day while he was still up, and he started screaming at it as it got close to him.
It’s great motivation to get them to help clean - “gotta clean the floor before bed or the robot will wake up angry and eat your toys!”
