He was happy enough for a little while. I was scrambling but I did successfully make a very simple meal so really I guess that’s good enough. So dry pasta in a bin to pour? That could work, he generally likes putting things into containers. I was trying to give him things to do, which mostly ended up on the floor. And in the end I just let him crawl around unloading everything off the island shelves. The two buckets on the left were the sensory bins I did for DDs 18 month old Halloween party last year. I ended up just taking them and pouring them into a Tupperware bin with a lid. I did black beans, chick peas, and the big ziti. Bigger is better. I tried rice and it was a disaster. Now, don't be surprised if a lot ends up on the floor, but I would make her help me clean it up (sometimes with tears involved) but it kept her occupied for a long ass time and she would beg to play with it Jumping in because the OT that DS1 saw loves these sensory activities. Also if you're worried about him eating it, I do off brand Rice Crispies (like $1 at Aldi) so that if little ones stick it in their mouths it just dissolves.

I caught DD sucking on dried beans and pasta on more than one occasion. 🤷

sheilathetank, I'm curious about that laundry basket situation. What's in there?

sheilathetank thank for saying that...it really helps. I just don’t understand why he or other family members think spanking her will help. She’s already lashing out and getting physical will help? And why am I spanking her exactly because she’s frustrated. 🤷🏽♀️

sheilathetank, I'm curious about that laundry basket situation. What's in there? I went full Pinterest for the party lol. One of the toddler ideas was to run yarn or string through the holes in a laundry basket to created a crazy grid and have them use tongs to get objects and toys out. I nixed the tongs idea because that was way too advanced, but even the entire concept was too much for 18-20 months. I'm tempted to try again this year and see how it goes now that she's 2.5. still with no tongs though.

Well, I’ve been running the robot vacuum in the kitchen at night but realized that J is mesmerized by it. I also let him use the remote and he thinks that’s pretty fun.

Freaks at the coffee grinder and blender, fusses with the popcorn maker. The steam cleaner can only come out at naps, etc etc

I'd love to have a robot vacuum but I feel confident that my dog would die of sheer terror. I have to let him out into the yard whenever I vacuum.
I really want to make a DJ Roomba à la Parks and Rec.

DD is terrified of Roomba. Our dog just thinks Roomba is super aggressive - he lies down, Roomba runs into him, he jumps up and lies down somewhere else, repeat until he jumps on the couch.

Do you all only live on one floor or have super large homes? We have 1500sft divided between two floors. How do you prevent it from falling down stairs?

It does have a sensor to prevent it from falling off stairs. We have an old house and particularly tall thresholds that mine (not Roomba, a less expensive one) doesn't do great with so I just get it going one or two rooms at a time.

We only use Roomba in our basement (its carpeted), but ours has little external sensors so you can restrict it to a certain area. My house is 1000 sf.

Our house will be 2200 sq ft plus a basement. I got it today. It was nice to not have to vacuum the living room and have that time to do something else. DS1 was not impressed. No robot! Put robot away! 🤣😂

He also insisted I turn on the robot vacuum this morning but he cried when it got too close to him. He just wants to watch at a safe distance. I tried to show him how to use the remote to stop it when it gets too close.
