HOW OLD DOES EVERYONE THINK I AM?? 👵🏼 it's my face, right? I had not even met my husband when I was 29 and most of my friends married in mid 30s or have not married, so it never occurs to me that this is not the norm. I just assume everyone is my age.

cp3 dang that's the good life. I thought I had it good with a projected retirement of 62. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yeah, I'm a little jealous of those that get pensions. We both have decent retirement savings and mh's work matches a good amount so hopefully we will get to our retirement goal.

Most of my friends are still doing the grad school/getting their first dog together MAYBE thing. I have always been old at heart so I'm not actually upset lol. Maybe a little upset that my face looks old.

The home we hope to build one day is designed with aging in mind. If DH has his way we'll live there forever. I, on the other hand, am holding onto the prospect of going somewhere warm in the winter.
I also like the idea of getting an RV but the truth is that I like hotels. So instead I'd like to get a fun SUV and road trip from Hampton Inn to Hampton Inn. Oatmeal and tea in the lobby each morning and chocolate chip cookies upon our return each evening. Never having to clean a bathroom. Sounds good to me.

I'd love to retire to Palm Springs and have properties wherever our kids end up. Palm Springs fits my vision of swanning around my pool deck in a caftan sipping a cocktail. I will have my lady friends over for "broads who drink" nights. We'll play cards while we gossip. H will play a lot of golf.
Hopefully we'll travel a lot. A lot, a lot.

I'm set to retire before 50 which seems to close yet so far. I hope to get out of here and end up somewhere warm. H keeps talking about buying something in Costa Rica. I want to always have a drink in hand and to always be laying in the sand or on a boat.. or whatever I decide that moment. Or.... Sounds awesome. Then I realized there are less years between now and my 50th birthday and my wedding day....I feel old now.

I am going to be parenting teenagers in my 40s, so they will obviously suck and then 50s should be getting back to great again.

Also hopefully in my 30s I will get my tummy tuck/breast reduction/ Brazilian butt lift and just be a knock out babe. But maybe I need to add a face lift to that plan.

All I know is, hopefully we're not still in California as olds
Somewhere more peaceful and lower cost of living
In reality, I don't see how we'll ever comfortably retire... feels daunting at this time in our lives... however I'm starting to feel like saving for retirement has become more of a priority than purchasing a house. Gotta get on that.

I actually plan on investing all of my inheritance for retirement. My mom died at 65 from a brain aneurysm, so there was obviously quite a bit left in her own retirement account. If she had lived into her 90s like my grandpa, it wouldn't have been there for us to inherit, so it's basically money that I was never anticipating having. So my plan is to pretend it doesn't exist so that when I retire, there's a big lump sum.

People that want to live near grandkids- what do you do when your kids move away to different places? I mean, you can't choose one kid over the other right? This is my mom's dilemma right now. Three of us have moved out of state. My sister and I both have kids but we live 12 hours away from each other and my mom feels like she can't move closer to either of us because she'd be choosing one kid over the other. I'm already anxious about this situation with my own kids.

I want to know what you do for work that you're able to retire before 60. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I probably won't retire before 60, but some people I work with do, if they got in early enough. I am a clinical laboratory scientist in CA, and perhaps most importantly, I work for the state government. We are one of the few places left that I know of around here that offers a pension for this line of work.

Since technically I started here when I was 29, I could potentially retire at 59, I think. The pension has increments of service and 30 years is one of them.

In brutal honesty I would probably pick the one with the better climate and then focus my efforts on either getting the other kid to join us there or helping them afford to visit as often as possible.
