Can I retire with you Tlex?? Yes please! Would love to have regular dinner guests My grandparents and their neighbourhood foodie friends have a little club where they rotate who hosts weekly, and they all get drunk and walk home afterwards. #goals I love this. Forget the RV, this is my new retirement goal!

I would love to retire abroad somewhere. Either Europe or South Africa. I think DH will be a hard sell because he wants to live wherever the kids are. Which might be tough anyway because with 5 so far, they could end up on different ends of the earth anyway. So in a perfect world we are fabulously wealthy and can afford to fly between cities whenever we want and have several homes where our families are. The thread title says "dreams," so I'm sticking with that.

I'm 29 and we have very modest retirement savings, but it's a slow growth game. I think I'll be working until at least 60-65, but that's okay with me. DH's family lives well into their 90's/100's and we'll need extra savings for that lol.

We need to remain in the general area for our kids. At the moment the plan is to buy a condo at our local beach and hopefully one in the Bay Area and split our time between them. I sahm so I won't be retiring from more than household management and volunteering. I'm not sure if MH would sell the business and flat out retire or work part time. I've got 16 more years of full time parenting and I am calling myself retired.

Summer on Vancouver Island or one of the Gulf islands, winter in Florida. Lots of boating, golfing, and traveling with MH. I hope that DS is settled with someone he loves and we can visit (in a non intrusive way) regularly. And above all I dream that we all have our health and are well enough to live an active life

Honestly I would love to retire here. I love this city. But it possibly depends on where our kids end up.
Ideally, retire here and travel a lot. I plan to do a lot of yoga, and maybe some volunteer work.

I really hope my kids send the grandkids to me every other weekend or so. I'm not going to guilt them into living near me but I'll make it clear that I'll go the extra mile to help them out if they do. I am new to this "healthy family" dynamic im experiencing with DH's extended family, but it's pretty cool and makes life pretty pleasant when you know you have back up around.

Tiny home, like... TINY home? Yep. Or ever heard of an earth ship? He is all about those. Is that one of those floating cities? MH tried to talk me into it. It sounds like hell. Never being able to get away from your nosy neighbors.

I got in to my current employer just in time to get a $$$$ pension upon retirement. A lot of people retire early here. So I would love to make that work but realistically I will probably retire around 60, which is still slightly "early."

In my dream world we could actually retire and buy farm land, have some goats, a horse, some chickens. Maybe a cow.

Oh one thing is that I would love to have an ocean view condo. We are pretty close to the ocean, but no ocean view.

LOL. I'm a Millennial. I'll never afford to retire. Yes. Even thinking about it is making me anxious. And jealous

Oh and my BFF and I have a backup plan. If our Hs aren't about anymore we're moving into The Villages retirement community in FL together and will live a Grace and Frankie life

Mh's goal is to become a director and then CEO with his company so he has big dreams for retirement. His grandparents have a lot of land north of us by a lake that they will be gifting to him so he wants to build a lake house there. I will probably want to stay in the same area we are now but I want to travel a lot. We both want to retire hopefully in our mid-50's but are planning to probably work part time for a bit to keep us busy.

Are you military? Are you going to fully retire? Not millitary. And yes Aunt Liz, is that you? My aunt started a state job the week after high school and retired at 48. She got bored a few years ago, so now she works for a small airline part-time. And then flies all over the country for cheap/free vacations in her free time thanks to employee perks. Jealousy, I have it.

I want to know what you do for work that you're able to retire before 60. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Not Betweenthelines but my uncle works for the state and was eligible for full retirement before age 50. He works for the state here and was grandfathered in at the old pension rates. Things have changed now for newer employees. Mh's brother works for the state too and is eligible to retire the same year my MIL is planning to retire.

I go back and forth beteeen wanting a small house with some land where I can have a garden and a pool and a guest house or a condo in a city with amenities where I can walk to restaurants and shopping. I guess it will depend where the pendulum is swinging when the time comes. MH would probably like to be on a golf course.
