Not having to pay student loans. Seriously, that's all I think about. When I get to that point in my life, then maybe I can start planning what my retirement will be like.

I love daydreaming about this stuff. It motivates me to prepare even harder so we can make this happen & get out of the rat race. Same! It's so motivating for me. I'm such a dreamer, I feel anxious when I don't have a dream to focus on. Lol.

I should be 48 when I sign my papers. 🍹🎉 Are you military? Are you going to fully retire? Not millitary. And yes

Also, somehow I'm going to make a lot of really cosmopolitan friends and hobnob the heck out of my empty nest years.

Ok the coast of Brittany. We have a family house there, in a little historic fisherman village. It has best view in the world, of crashing waves and boats.
We will drink wine, eat salted butter and look at sunsets.

Our plan is to downsize to a condo in the city and probably buy a place in a warmer climate for the winters. No idea where that would be just yet.

Plan is to work until 55, at which time we will be debt free.
We plan to down size and use that house as a home base, and would like to spend 3-6 months abroad. The rest of the time we plan to volunteer at a zoo or if we are still in the area, there is something called the Baltimore truancy project, that I would love to work with. I hope to start sooner, when my kids get a bit older.

With this economy, I wonder if I'll ever be able to retire.
I will not make any plans until I know what my kids are doing. DH's Dad moved to Florida - tickets to the nearest airport are $400-$600 so it's not like it's feasible for us to visit often. DH feels abandoned. I don't want to do that to my kids. Wherever we settle needs to be accessible to family. Cheap airfare, desirable place to visit. I'd like to have a large garden and some chickens.
But DH told me he plans on dying young, so I'll probably be the crazy cat lady.

The plan is to move to downtown Chicago and also buy a small lake house. I'll see you there. Omg we can be lake house neighbors!

I would like a house on Isla Mujeres in Mexico and a townhouse/condo in my current city. I'd like to find a volunteer or PT job just for funsies and human interaction. In a perfect world, we'd retire by 60-62 but who knows how realistic that is. This is exactly my former bosses' life and I have the jealousy. They have two condos and airbnb out whichever one they aren't currently at.

I can't even think about retirement! We'll be lucky to be able to do it all, I think.
So IDK where we'd live but ideally I would like to be able to travel. We didn't do nearly enough of it before settling down and I always have major wanderlust

I'm set to retire before 50 which seems to close yet so far. I hope to get out of here and end up somewhere warm. H keeps talking about buying something in Costa Rica. I want to always have a drink in hand and to always be laying in the sand or on a boat.. or whatever I decide that moment. Or.... HOW?!

I want a winter home in Florida and a summer home in New England. That way I can skip the blistering heat of Florida (where we live now) and the snowy winters in MA (where DH is from/I lived for a few years). I pretty much want to be in a swimming pool year round.

We'd like to travel as much as possible. We have a list of all the places we want to go once we're empty nesters.
This would probably mean having a low maintenance house, I could see us buying a condo or townhouse in a big city.

We just bought our forever home so we will stay there. We are hopefully able to keep our condo and when we are old and too tired of stairs move back and sell the house. Ideally we Live in Costa Rica for the winter and the city for the summer. Travel the world and buy pretty things. We started our retirement savings when we started working and I have a great government pension.

We want a little bit of land for a few animals (I need a horse!), closeish to a decent sized city, preferably near a large body of water.
H could potentially retire in 5 years (I'm sure he'll have a second career though). It's strange to think about.

I have always wanted to be in a warm state when I retire. My thoughts have changed over the years and I just want to be close to family. I would love to have extra rooms for the grandkids, friends, and family. My H loves hosting, so we would need a large house. Even if we had a lake home, that would be good. I just want to be close to everything.
