Thanks everyone. My younger brother is getting married tomorrow and I have social anxiety, so I've been stressed thinking about it. I've been talking to my older brother for a couple hours a night since he's the best man and so I've lost sleep time. T has refused to nap all week ("it's too hard"). And, we've been yelling at her a lot and I feel bad about that - 3.5 year olds know how to push buttons.

So, random question, what size clothes and diapers are you LO's currently.in? J is 3 weeks and still in newborn diapers and newborn or 0-3 clothes. Just wondering as everyone told me not to buy much newborn stuff and I'm glad I did since we've been 3 weeks with it.
Swaddling....do you do it? Arms in or out? Weve been doing arms out or one arm on. He doesnt like arms in but 1 arm in helps with sleep.
Today has been tiring but ok. J had 2 decent stretches of sleep at night and 2 decent naps but has been cranky all afternoon. He finally pooped around 430 which has really heloed. I think most of the painful gas is gone though not all.
Talked to the LC today and she says she likes my progress but keep on with nursing then pumping for 3 more days then I can nurse twice, pump once, keep supplementing with formula if he's hungry. Right now we are up to 7 oz. Of formula a daybplus my 2-3 oz pumped breast milk plus breastfeeding 8 or o times a day. She has me.only BF for 20 minutes at a time but once I start reducing pumping I'm to increase BF time. Im glad we are talking. J has gone from 7 lb 2.5 oz to 7 lb. 7 oz in 5 days since going with the LC's plan which is great since he hadnt gained from week 1 to week 2. I'm feeling better about his weight at least. I just wish our next appointment wasn't so far away. I feel like we call the nurses line a lot.

king26, we just got to size 1 diapers a couple days ago and he'll be 6 weeks on sat. He can still fit into newborn clothes, but we've been using 0-3 recently too. We swaddle hands in with a halo sack, but he's loved a swaddle since day one.

king26, M was almost 9lbs at 2 weeks, not sure about now but I actually just used size 1 diapers right after leaving the hospital. NB clothes are too small at this point so mostly wearing 0-3 or 3 month sizes. Haven't really been swaddling lately because she has been sleeping in the R nP since the cold so been tucking a blanket over her. We were doing arms out when we were because she didn't like them in. You are doing a great job with the BF and so happy to hear J gained 😊 @starzia, hello again twin, I spilled a chili stain on M while trying to nurse and eat 😂 no worries, it wasn't still hot at that point

Are y'all using pampers for diapers? I swear my baby isn't that big and it already seems like the size 1 pamper swaddlers will be small on her in not too long 😬 I weighed her with myself and according to that it said she was 10 lbs

king26, H is still in newborn diapers at four weeks but some of his newborn sleepers are too short. We had been swaddling arms in with a SwaddleMe, but he started to object strongly, so now we just wrap it around his middle, arms out. White noise is our friend for night time. I'm so glad yours is gaining weight and that breastfeeding is going better. We give almost exactly the same amount of formula supplement as you, but you are better at pumping than I am!! Great job keeping up with that schedule.

bsouls hugs times a million. I cannot imagine doing a newborn and a toddler. You're amazing even on the rough days. I'm sorrybrhings are tough lately. You got this. @starzia lol at the cannoli leftovers on her. That is so adorable that your DH called off. My DH is on his last few days of his two week vacay and he is getting so grumpy at having to go back king26 he barely fits into most of the newborn sleepers- he's too long! So we're still in NB for outfits that don't have footies and I'm desperately going through the NB footie outfits this week bc they're so cute and it makes me sad to say goodbye to them! He fits in newborn diapers for one brand but we got some pampers NB and he has peed out of every. Single. One. So we went back to the random ones I got off Amazon (seventh generation). We have a few boxes of size 1 pampers so I'm hoping he will fit better in those. jt2378. Now I'm worried I should put him in the size 1 pampers asap! Swaddling- he loves to sleep with his arms up like 🙆♂️ But when he's really fussy or having a hard time going to sleep we swaddle his arms down to help contain and soothe him. We alternate between a halo sleep sack and just a swaddle blanket. This kid has barely slept today and has eaten SO much. I've been pumping and bottle feeding all day and I can barely keep up with him! Is there a growth spurt or feeding increase at 3-4weeks? I downloaded wonder weeks but it didn't say anything about something happening right now so I'm lost as to why he's eating 3-4oz every 2-3hr all day! Could barely get to three hours with him today!!

king26 at 3wks (+2days) D. is still in the newborn pampers daipers (which are the smallest but feel slightly big on her - smallest pampers is size 1 here.. 3-5kgs) and and wearing newborn 50/56 or 0-3mo clothing. I do notice she has grown as some of her onesies and sleepers are starting to be a little short for her. We were swimming in newborn/0-3mo clothing thanks to my cousins stash of baby cloths and she hasn't even worn half of everything yet lol (and she ain't going either cause a lot of this clothing is impractical, too tight fit or I gotte pull it on over her head instead of it opening up). While at the hospital and first days at home we did swaddle D. But the older she got she started disliking it and gets upset when she can't move her arms. Besides that I have been told swaddling limits babies is expressing their hunger cues so here they advice not to swaddle BFed babies. Sometimes I debate trying swaddling again tho cause I feel she sometimes keeps herself awake by her endless arm waving and jerking. Maybe I shall try the one arm in one arm out! Happy to read there is noticable progress both in J s weight as your pumping/supply! Awesome. D sometimes has such bad cramps as well and can cry the most heartbreaking cry then. Hate it! Or she will finally be asleep and them gets the hickups and will be wide awake again ugh. She had a real fussy and difficult time late last night and it took MH and I forever to sooth her. When she finally was asleep she did sleep for 4.5h before I woke myself oops and I had to wake her up for BFing.

addymac I was sort of wondering the same. D has been superfussy the past days as compared to befofe. Wonder Weeks is only talking about mental leaps I think tho and not necessarily growth spurts? I had read about the 3wk growth spurt before so figured it was that.. Hope they both settle down again soon! Oh and how do you know he is eating 3-4oz at a time? I obviously haven't a clue how much D gets from my boobs but when I supplement with a bottle (BM mostly again now that I started pumping more milk finally yay!) I give her between 1 and 2oz max a time which seems to be enough. But I can hardly believe she gets 3oz from my boobs... but who knows. I really want to weight her this weekend (on our own scale so it wont be as precise but at least gives a clue on how she is growing I hope).

Well for some reason DH is wide awake so he's feeding J. This is good and bad. I'm awake too so I loaded the dishwasher, put away dishes, and did a few other things I haven't been able to get to ( it's 2am by the way) but now I'm worried I won't get my morning nap because DH is up now. Usually he sleeps.from 10-3 or so then gets up for a bit, goes back to sleep until J gets up at 5 or 6 and stays up with him while I sleep. Well he only slept 9-12 and has been up for 2 hours which stinks because I've been up.1115-2 and will need my morning nap.
Also, I hate being on mobile because I can't see posts or tag. I'll get to a computer.sometime soon.

Ah I didn't realize wonder weeks didn't include growth spurts. I need to read a book I think on baby growth and development 🤦🏻♀️ I've been mostly pumping and feeding by bottle the last couple days- the pain in my nipples when he eats has been unreal and I was sobbing, the lanolin cream was doing nothing, and I just couldn't take it anymore, so I started pumping and bottle feeding bc I was going to lose it (more than I did that morning at 4am). So it's easy for me to know. Also, yesterday I was getting 2ish oz out my R boob with every pump. Then he was so agitated I just BF him and he ate for 10min on my R side, then I pumped that side right after, and only got like 10cc out (instead of around 60-70cc like I usually pump), so I know for that feeding he *probably* got about 2oz

H nursed, then drank 2 oz expressed milk, then formula, then seemed hungry. Poor little things must feel as hungry as we do when we're pregnant, lol!!

addymac gotcha! Btw sucks your nipple(s) is still so painful and the lanolin isnt helping much at all. Did the meds do anything you think?? After my one day marathon nursing session wjere she was on the boob for 8hs total my leftie was a mess (it had been borderline painful already before) and for a few days I only gave that one first and for a shorter time then pumped to help it heal.. luckily that worked. I hope you will soon ne painfree. That makes the whole already hard BFing thing even harder 😕😥

This has been us when she had her previous growthspurt too. Tho the Just feed her FFS was MH... I was like But she has just been on the boob 20min 1h 1.5h 2hs ago.. how can she be hungry still/again!? I now know better😊 and don't feel as bad for supplementing formula if necessary.. plus am pumping more which is helping too. We always fed on demand but it was hard sometimes knowing what cues she gave. And double frustrating as I was struggling with supply. I have learned to mostly let go of feeling like I am failing at BFing now tho and go with the (hunger) flow without wondering how can she be hungry again. If the boob thinks noooo not again already! I will warm up some pumped milk instead. Or formula but havent needed formula in a couple of days as I pumped a nice bit extra finally which was hard work but makes me feel better.

king26 MH is working a late shift today and asked if D could come cosleep with him (he sleeps upstairs in the bedroom I am still dowstairs in bed with D in her bassinet) after her first morning feed, as he s been missing their time together now that he is back to work. I am glad they get to spent some time together but it has messed with my routine as well and MH is now asleep again but I miss out on a cple hours. I feel a little unsettled and hope I can get thru the evening alright on my own tonight.

I need to read a book I think on baby growth and development 🤦🏻♀️ As per Kellymom: "Common times for growth spurts are during the first few days at home and around 7-10 days, 2-3 weeks, 4-6 weeks, 3 months, 4 months, 6 months and 9 months (more or less). Babies don’t read calendars, however, so your baby may do things differently." kellymom.com/hot-topics/growth-spurts/It does say not to supplement not even with pumped milk but ugh I have to for my own sanity (and nipple preservation!)!

The size 1 is 3-5kg I think so yours is prolly just about in between size 1 and 2? Again, not sure ifnsizing is the same here and there 😊

The part about not supplementing made me feel a little bad, but the alternative is not feeding the baby since I just don't make enough milk. I make myself feel better by nursing until he's getting nothing and frustrated and then pumping while he's being supplemented. I figure that would stimulate more production if my boobs worked, lol, similar to the cluster feeding

I would ignore that little piece. 🤷🏻♀️

thinkchocolate05 addymac the not supplementing bit does make sense but if you are already cluster feeding on demand and still baby is hungry for real and is miserable of coz one will supplement cause imho it it obvious that milk supply isnt meeting demand. And i dont think one should let baby be miserable like that. For some women the clusterfeeding and not supplementing may work, for others it may not and we all do the best we can one way or the other! I too pump to make up for bottlefeedings - in hopes it will fool the boobs a bit.

jt2378 Pampers here. I also have a 10lb baby and they seem to be working well. I remember with DS though that we tried both Pampers and Huggies with him and Huggies just did not fit his body shape. Have you tried a different brand?

Ok I think i'm caught up now.
DD has an ultrasound scheduled for later this morning to check on her kidney. Fingers crossed that it's a normal size now, otherwise we'll have to travel 2ish hours to see a pediatric urologist 😣
