It's weird, my pedi doesn't do a 1 month checkup it's at 6 weeks and shots are then. nutmeg, side lying nursing is the best, it was my savior with cosleeping with DD1. So far haven't tried it with M but not cosleeping right now. I also have been going out a lot with her but she rarely comes out of the car seat. We have DD1's bday party on Saturday so lots of people then

Am I the only jackass doing all the feeding and changing MOTN? Suucckks to be me apparently lol I do, but I'm breastfeeding mostly and used up all of my milk stash in the road trip. MH also has a job that he has to have a good nights sleep in order to be safe. So I went into this knowing I'd be on my own in the MOTN. Ditto this for MH. So I knew that once he went back to work MOTN would be on me. Which is why I just tried to get used to it early on. It sucks to also be on my own during daytime on top of sucky nights but we will make it work somehow heh.

I woke up with a headache. I hate that because it usually sticks around all day then. I need to get DS out of the house to do something today. He's acting up so much lately, I'm sure it's lack of activity/ entertainment. Hoping I can shower quick while E naps and then feed her another time, then go. I hope your headache took a hike and didnt stay around all day. And that you are able to take DS on an outing today - have fun!

My parents are getting in tonight at midnight. My house is a disaster zone. I'm kicking myself for spending all of Sunday relaxing with H but family bonding is important too. Yesterday I got very little done because U needed lots of cuddles. She wouldn't sleep unless she was touching me. So a lot of the day was spent with her sleeping on my legs while I folded laundry, graded, etc. Ahh yay your parents visit is finally here! I know how much you have been looking forward to this. And don't feel bad about the house being messy -i doubt they will care! Baby snuggles for the win!

king26 I had the exact same questions. Here is my 2 month experience LOL When your LO is up how long are they up for? Up until 6 weeks it wasn't long at all. Now it can be 1 or 2 hours with maybe s 10 min nap or 2 Is it mostly just for feeding then they go back to sleep? Yes until recently If not, what do you do with them when they aren't sleeping? I felt guilty I wasn't reading to her much but she's too young. So now she likes colors and her piano gym so I put her there. I feel like I should interact w her more but again shes so young. She doesn't like walks and cries in her car seat when we go places. So I'm limited Also, are most LO's in the habit of simply waking up, getting diaper changed, eating, and falling back to sleep? Yes. Until 6 wks she always fell asleep after bottle. Now she usually doesn't unless I nurse her after for comfort or "desert" and she'll fall asleep. How long are your LO's up for when they are up? 1 to 2 hrs. MOTN she knows she goes right back to sleep. Also, have you been taking your LO out of the house and in public? If not, when will you? We didn't do stores til her shots at 6 wks. We skipped large family get togethers. I wouldn't go to the party. DO you have a bedtime routine yet? No she's not consistent enough. I dont know when she is done for the day- if last bottle is at 730pm she's done but any earlier and she may want more at 930. Also she may be cranky after bc reflux or she may want to play. And she doesn't go to bed for the night til 9. If she falls asleep I'm not waking her to read or have a bath. So no routine yet Adding that MOTN I don't put lights on.. I'll put the hallway or kitchen but never the bedroom or living room one. I also try to only swaddle at night but have been breaking that

jt2378 I do them all not just the MOTN. H will change every once in a while, but never poops and never at night. How come no poops? What if you're not home?

yoshijo that was all very helpful thank you! I try not to turn on lights at night. I do a light in another room but DH does light in room when he gets up. I do most MOTN but he will usually get up with me once to change diaper then he does morning shift so I can get 2 extra hours of sleep.

nutmeg you were right, no shots until next month. Sooooo DD is growing like a freakin weed! She gained 3 lbs since her last check - she's now 10lbs 8oz which is 82nd percentile 😲. She's also 22in (86th percentile).

DS started preschool for the first time today. Man, juggling getting him ready for that with a 1 week old is rough. He cried a little at drop off but had a good morning otherwise. He's going 2 mornings a week, so that gives me some time with just DD.
She has been nursing every 1.5 hrs today, which is good since she needs to get back to birth weight. But my poor nipples!

I also do all of the MOTN stuff. I can get up and be done before my H wakes up enough to be helpful. But I make him deal with DS if he gets up randomly through the night.

J just ate 2 oz. Formula after giving him a bath. We usually give 1 oz. I kid you not, 10 minutes after bath he farts like 10 times. I go to change him and there is poop everywhere. As I go to change the diaper he vomits up all of the damn formula. It's in his hair, I'm his legs, on his arms, and it scared both of us (me and j). I'm now comfort nursing him...comforting both of us. Wtf? Why does he spit up all the formula when he eats more than 1 oz?

king26 echoing what yoshijo said, maybe he ate it too quickly? Are you using the slowest flow nipple available for your bottle type ? Also, if you Google "paced bottle feeding" there are instructions for slowing down bottle intake which may help. So sorry that happened

yoshijo, thinkchocolate05, Yes we have the slowest flow nipple. We've been doing the paced bottle feeding but I think DH wasn't paying attention so he did eat the 2 oz. fairly quickly. He did burp but not a huge one. I just felt so bad. It really scared me because he was laying on the changing table when he started spitting it all up so I picked him up and turned him over to spit it out. Will babies naturally turn themselves to the side when they start spitting up? I saw him turn his head once when it was just a little spit up but I was wondering. Poor baby. pennylane, Glad preschool went well for DS and sorry about your nipples. jexxa, Wow DD is growing well!

Sorry that was so scary king26. Alexa does that all day 😕. I pick her up a lot to help her when she spits up and keep her upright for awhile after feeds. But sometimes it happens in the car or when I don't see it. I assume she turns her head and manages it somehow

Did you try multiple different brands of slow flow nipples? I started with the medela calma slow flow nipple as it is the one that came with my pump set, but felt D finished her bottle in no time. cali gave me the tip to try different brands and see which one was the slowest/best for D. We happened to have the philips avent newborn slow flow one as well and it honestly makes a difference. She will go thru 1oz in like 2-3min with the medela calma but with the avent one it will take her 5-6 minutes. D. sometimes spit up some of her bottlefed milk with the calma but less so now that we use the avent it seems. Also sometimes she will burp and give back some milk.. luckily she never really spitted a lot, that would freak me out too and I am sorry you had that scare.

No poops because he's worried he won't clean her right I think. I haven't left them alone together. Especially since his way of comforting when he's playing on his computer is to say her name loudly. I keep telling him pick her up, check her diaper. But we will get there!

I am so frustrated, have to vent. Dh lets me sleep 3 hrs at the beginning of the night after I put DS1 down, which is awesome. What is not awesome is tonight during that 3 hrs, he fed DS2 3.5 oz of formula! We've talked about this, but he said he felt bad waking me up at 2 hours to feed him and that he kept asking for more. Now I have a full, fussy baby, dh is asleep, and I'm engorged and need to pump since my supply is already low. This is after upping my pumping sessions all day to try to increase my supply. I think I'll just ask him to wake me up if the baby is really hungry versus giving that much supplement.

thinkchocolate05 hugs!! I am sorry YH overfed the baby on formula instead of waking you up. I am positive he meant well but I get how incredibly frustrating it is. I have a feeling MH would do the same if it had been us.. Hopefully you will be able to pump a nice amount and will be able to supplement BM one time instead of formula - that would be nice even tho it doesnt take away the frustration now. 💛

I know he was well intended but it's like his main way of comforting baby is to stuff him with formula. I think I'll just tell him that if it's within 1 hr of me waking up and baby wants more than 1 oz of formula to just get me. Setting up concrete rules like that usually helps.

I've upped my pumping too but DH doesn't quite get it. I think it's hard for the guys to really understand breastfeeding and everything that goes with it.

thinkchocolate05- ugh I'm sorry. I'd be frustrated too. Ugh DH and I keep fighting in the MOTN. We just get snippy and it's usually me who snaps first bc I'm the one awake and then he gets mad and I really don't feel like apologizing for telling him to get some common sense. 😤 Great example, tonight. I BF on left side. DH changed diaper. Baby comes back to me and I put him on right side. 5 min later I'm trying to burp him and he throws up everywhere. I'm like omg! And DH is in bed right next to us, clearly he had to have heard N throwing up and he's just like everything ok?? No asshole, it's 330am and he just threw up all over me, himself, the boppy, the bed! Get up and get me s towel to start cleaning this shit up! 😤🙄 and then he gets mad that I'm snapping at him to hurry up and get a towel. Like, you HEARD him throwing up. What did you think that noise was? Sigh.

Lol addymac. That's frustrating but a good example. Sometimes stuff seems so obvious that they just don't get. Like, dh's brother (who I don't like) visited us a few weeks ago and overstayed their welcome to mooch off our Netflix subscription. I told dh I was annoyed his brother was still there and couldn't believe he hadn't left yet. Afterwards, he was all, "you didn't tell me to ask him to leave." Lol, sigh. Hope everything got cleaned up and baby hasn't kept spitting up.
