I discovered yesterday that a bunch of my returned library books are still on my Kindle. They seem to be ones that I opened but never read and are now still downloaded even though I technically βreturnedβ them ages ago. So that was an exciting discovery Is it/was it on airplane mode? There is a delightful glitch in the matrix where books live on a kindle in airplane mode into perpetuity until it has another internet connection and resyncs. I use it a lot when I have a bunch of books come up on my hold list and I know I wonβt get to them- download to kindle, activate airplane mode, return everything so the next reader gets them out of courtesy. Even if you donβt return the app will pull them back after the 2 week loan. But the books stay on my paperwite until I get through them all. Just make sure it stays on airplane mode until you have read them all otherwise they poof. And yes, if you also read on the app you can continue to get other books, etc like normal. I definitely use the airplane mode trick a lot but right now itβs online and been synced multiple times. One of the books still on there was returned in September and I canβt even imagine how many times Iβve synced since then.

I finished The Santa Cruise and loved/hated it, but I still just checked out the next in the series, Santa & Company.
My hold also came up for a YA holiday book, Let it Glow. It's Parent Trap adjacent about twins who were separated at adoption and then switch places when they meet as tweens/teens. I'm reading to see if I think my DD will like it. She prefers non-fiction, but this might be a fun book for her assigned (homeschool) reading.

Iβll see that the book looks like it is still there but when I go to open it, I get an error or itβs just the first page.

This is making me think of the Friends episode where Joey & Chandler were afraid to change the channel or turn off the tv because they suddenly had free porn. Don't mess with the Kindle, just enjoy the fluke.

For my paperwhite, all the book covers stay on unless a book is manually deleted through the amazon website. That's a first world problem PITA so I have the "downloaded" filter option on. So only books still downloaded will show up. I have my kindle on airplane mode a lot to save battery life so that's how I discovered the libby glitch.

I still have access to Demon Copperhead which has a massive waitlist and I was sad I never got to it, so nows my second chance. Itβs back in airplane mode just in case

I finished One big happy family. Any drama that could happen to a family did but it was decent enough
Iβll be starting how my neighbor stole Christmas tonight

I don't think I've checked in for a while. I finished Everyone This Christmas Has a Secret. It was fun and short. I read the Naturals which was a delightful YA book. I also read Midnight Feast which kept me entertained. The twists were over the top, but still enjoyable. Lastly, I finished up The Christmas Tree Farm (Dream Harbor #3). This might've been my favorite of the three, but could just be because I liked the setting. These books are quick reads for me and I wish there was some more character development but they hit the mark for cute quick romances.
I don't know what's next. I have the next Naturals book but I'm hoping to get it on Libby because it's easier for me to fit reading in that way.

Man, you guys make me a want an actual Kindle so I can keep a device in airplane mode and not lose books, lol. I read from my phone 100% of the time at this point. I'll take my tablet when we travel, but that's really it.

I have literally been trying to finish The Reformatory for weeks but never have time to get it done. I need something lighter, so I picked up The Guncle Abroad at the library today. Iβll alternate books over the next week.

I just finished the Death of Mrs. Westaway, Ruth Ware. I had to speed up the narration though, it was slow moving and with a slow narrator it was painful!
The twist was a good one and even though the first half dragged, it picked up finally.

Iβll alternate books over the next week. This just reminded me that I have library holds I need to go pickup, so thank you! The trade off, and What does it feel like. I'm not sure if the timing is good on that second one, but I'll give it a try. If it makes me cry I'll just put it on time out. I'm about a hundred pages into Here One Moment and loving it so far. And then I have the second two Rebel Blue Ranch books to entertain me over the holidays.

Oh, I just realized The Trade Off that I put on hold is not the one on my To Read list on Goodreads. I need to learn to double-check the author.

But yeah, I should invest in an e-reader

Do regular kindles have less blue light, or are you all recommending paperwhites? I use a paperwhite and hate reading on my Galaxy tablet.

I finished Pucked and I'm so torn on it. I absolutely loved the romance, hockey, spice (so much spice) and silliness (for the most part), but the main character was so slut shamy about women (and men) who sleep around/have one night stands it left me with a bad taste. I get that she's young-ish (around 24 I think?), but it seemed like such an immature way to think. So I think I give it a 3.5 for that, but without that it would have been a 4 star read.

BOTM books are up

Speaking of BOTM, I keep debating if I should gift a year to MIL. She's retiring and is a big reader. Otherwise, I'm thinking gift card to the local bookstore. But I'm afraid the gift card would sit in her wallet forever where the BOTM she'd actually make a point of making a pick each month. Maybe the book store should to it's own BOTM punch card.

Does BOTM work for her reading genre I think it would work, she usually seems to have popular books in her pile. I know she likes Elin Hildebrand, some romance, some historical fiction, some thrillers.
