I wonder if it means Lucky Day as in no wait times to check it out? My library does that sometimes. Yes, that's what it means.Β It seems to be the same books over and over - and some of them don't seem that appealing so I'm not sure how we'd be "lucky" to get them.Β Β I just heard on my podcast that People's Sexiest Man Alive pick pays real American dollars to be chosen (or for the cover), and my mind was blown. One of the hosts said that became obvious to her the year Blake Shelton was picked LOL. Anyway, it made me wonder if publishers pay for Lucky Day options in libby?

I read all of Is She Really Going Put With Him today and I adored it. Itβs definitely my favorite romance of the year. Just a really sweet, thoughtful, lovely book. Good to know, I have this one waiting on my TBR stack. Right now I'm into Done & Dusted. Why not follow up my murdery mystery streak with a cowboy romance?

To keep this kind of book related, the other podcast host on the SMA convo, Knox McCoy, wrote a book called The Wondering Years. It was because of that book in 2020 that I started listening to podcasts and deconstruction which led me to the politics board. It's all a tangled web!

I get it and I hope she's able to relax before writing the fourth book. That said, if I have to wait years I'm going to be so bummed. I do feel for her. It got so bad that fans found her home address and were showing up. She actually had to move. Some of her children deleted their social media accounts because of fans harassing them for spoilers. Itβs a lot. The positive is that she has the series mapped out. She just has to get it on paper. I will gladly wait for it if it means it will be quality and she will continue to have the ability to write. Oh damn! People are fucking crazy. I definitely feel for her. And yes, I also believe she has it mapped out. I'll be bummed, but I do want what's best for her

Onyx Storm comes out January 21st BUT there is no approximate release year for book 4. Rebecca Yarros said she is taking a little writing break because things with fans, social media and overall speed of things is exhausting. And with a chronic illness itβs taking a toll on her. I actually met her last night for the release of her book Variations. She said she likes to go back and forth between contemporary romance and her fantasy stuff. So after onyx Storm, there will be a contemporary romance. But she hasnβt even started it yet. I do not expect a 4th Empyrean book until like 2027 the earliest. π«€ She didnβt say that but I think thatβs a solid guess. She is super nice. She did a really fantastic interview at the bookstore where it took place. I'm all for taking a break for health, but can we ask her not to pull a George R.R. Martin? I donβt think thatβs her intention. She has plans to write a lot more.

I finished Frozen Over, the second of a romcom series I'm reading. It was ok. I grabbed the next one to start tonight.
And speaking of fantasy, I will read it all! I'm 54% into City of Lies and Legends (House of Devils 3) and really enjoying it. And I finally grabbed my hold of The Cruel Prince after pushing it out a few times.

I liken it to the release of the Harry Potter books - we had to wait at least a year between the first few, and at last 2 between the last few books. People are so out of line these days and the amount of information that can be accessed is really scary. I love these books and am really excited for them; but at the end of the day, she's just a person trying to do her job and maintain healthy boundaries. *not a commentary on any of the dialogue here, just commenting on the parasocial relationships that people build and sense of entitlement that they feel to invade the lives of famous people

View Attachmentaw an ad on FB today that these are free for Prime and Kindle Unlimited users, they are listed as 'short' so maybe good for those trying to reach their goals? Has anyone else read these yet? I was excited because I loved the Valentine's day version earlier this year but I've read the first two of these and they are awful. I'll still finish them all because I'm a little behind on my goal for they year. But I gave the first one 2 stars and the second one 1 star.

I remember only liking the first two Valentine's ones and the description of these aren't really making me excited to read them. You guys make me feel like I chose wisely picking a different Christmas book to kick off my holiday reading.

I went back and looked and I guess I only liked 4 of the Valentine's books, the other 2 I gave 2 stars. I finished the 3rd and 4th last night. Gave the 3rd 1 star and the 4th 3 stars (which is probably generous but the 2nd and 3rd were so ridiculously bad it made this one look better, lol). Definitely don't recommend any of them.

Thankfully these are like 60 pages so I can knock them out in about 30-45 minutes.

Has anyone heard anything about Kindle Unlimited being on sale for Black Friday? Most of the Christmas books I've been wanting to read are only on KU.

I finished City of Lies and Legends. It's was excellent. I pre-ordered the fourth book which comes out in May. It says a 5-6 book series, so I guess I'll keep having those to look forward to for a bit. Onto The Cruel Prince now.
I'm reading All The Christmas Vibes right now too, for anyone looking for a cute, quick holiday read that isn't the pack of novellas that apparently stink.

I started The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah last night. I am not sure I like it but feel compelled to pick it up and read during any downtime I have (on an alarm because otherwise I would fall into the book and not come out until I was done) This book is really heavy but I think itβs one of my top books that I have read in the last few years. It deeply affected me. Probably because Iβm a survivor of a relationship with a man who was eerily similar to the dad in the book and Kristin Hannah nailed everything about domestic abuse with a man like that.

I finished Done and Dusted. I'm not sure how to review - I found myself both annoyed and entertained, shaking my head at how predictable it was yet purchasing the next two books. Guilty pleasure series?

In the past week I finished The Only Good Indians, My Favorite Half-Night Stand, and the audiobook of The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. They were all pretty good, I think Half-Night Stand is probably my favorite out of all of them.
Currently reading The House of Last Resort by Christopher Golden, and listening to One of Us is Dead by Jeneva Rose. I was trying to figure out where I had heard one of the narrators before, and turns out she's the narrator for the Throne of Glass audiobooks. I haven't listened to them, but they're used as sound tracks on so many TikToks I recognized the voice LOL.

I stayed up late to finish All The Christmas Vibes last night. It was cute but the ending really stunk. It was so rushed and had no closure. Annoying. I think my next holiday read will be A Very Merry Nanny.

I discovered yesterday that a bunch of my returned library books are still on my Kindle. They seem to be ones that I opened but never read and are now still downloaded even though I technically βreturnedβ them ages ago. So that was an exciting discovery Is it/was it on airplane mode? There is a delightful glitch in the matrix where books live on a kindle in airplane mode into perpetuity until it has another internet connection and resyncs. I use it a lot when I have a bunch of books come up on my hold list and I know I wonβt get to them- download to kindle, activate airplane mode, return everything so the next reader gets them out of courtesy. Even if you donβt return the app will pull them back after the 2 week loan. But the books stay on my paperwite until I get through them all. Just make sure it stays on airplane mode until you have read them all otherwise they poof. And yes, if you also read on the app you can continue to get other books, etc like normal.
