It's November! What books are you looking forward to reading? What books did you read last month?

October was a good month quality wise for me, which I very much needed. I finished six books:
-Dinner on Monster Island - all the stars! One of the best books of the year for me. -So Thirsty - meh, 3 stars because I was hooked on it, but haaaated the main character. -Audition - 5 disturbing stars to this short horror novel about a search for love gone very wrong -Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees - 5 stars to this graphic novel that was like is Dexter was done by Richard Scarry -The Night Guest - 5 stars, it was a quick, weird, creepy read that I finished in a day. -Home is Where the Bodies Are - 4 stars, a thriller about grieving siblings and a dark family secret.
I am reading Payback is A Witch and Prison Born for my bookclub - no further plans yet for the month, too much of a mood reader.

October was not great
The love of my Afterlife Counting miracles The best lies Twenty years later
I feel like I missed one but thatβs what Iβm showing. All were 3 stars
November books: The mirror-although I can see my aunt buying me this for Christmas so I may wait A very bad thing Is she really going out with him Guilt and ginataan An insignificant cause Now or never Long time gone P.s. I hate you
In reality Iβll probably hunker down with Christmas books the rest of the year lol

Hi! Can I start going here? Because I am basically going to avoid all social media going forward and am going to dive into all of my library holds instead.
Anyway, here is a recap of my October (I didn't end up loving anything I read last month, sadly):
-Just Another Missing Person - 2 stars -Middle Of The Night - 3 stars -A Cup of Autumn - 1 star -A Very Perry Wedding - 3 stars -What Have You Done - 3 stars -The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches - 2 stars -Bright Lights Big Christmas - 2 stars
For November I am finally going to read Fourth Wing and Iron Flame. These are SO not my usual genre, but I'm giving it a go. At least they'll be a good distraction from this disaster of a world. I also have a bunch of Christmas books on hold that I need to get through.

October turned out to be a good reading month for me. I finished 10 books, a fair amount were romcoms because I guess thatβs where my brain wanted to go and most I rated 4 stars: Swan Song - Elin Hilderbrand Love me Do - Lindsey Kelk The Elias Network - Simon Gervais Shogun part 1 - James Clavell One in a Million - Lindsey Kelk The Love of my Afterlife - Kirsty Greenwood Ultra Processed People - Chris Van Tulleken Old Manβs War - John Scalzi Hex Appeal - Kate Johnson Four Weekends and a Funeral - Ellie Palmer
This month Iβm already most of the way through Fear the Flames by Olivia Rose Darling and am enjoying it a lot, itβs the first fantasy Iβve actually liked for a while. Iβm not sure what Iβm reading the rest of the month, my kindle holds are all weeks out and my local library is still offline after a ransomeware attack so the holds system and returns are down

I've learned about so many new to me authors and how to use libby on here Bright Lights, Big Christmas is one of the books I didn't get in time last year that I want to read this year. I'm interested now how I'll rate it after seeing your 2 stars!

October was OK -
Ophie's Ghosts (Middle Grade Ghost Story) 4* The Awakening of Ivy Leavold (pure historical smut) 3.5* Drop Dead Sisters (Amazon First Read) 3.5* Dead Flip (90s pinball machine sucks in souls) 3.5* Bone Pendant Girls (Serial Killer) 4* Black Sunshine (Vampire romance) 3.5* Falling for the Jerk (Enemies to Lovers) 3.5* The Coldest Touch (YA paranormal romance) 4* Love of my Afterlife (paranormal romance) 3.5* Mere Mortals (YA vampire) 3.5 Caught in a bad Fauxmance (LBGTQ+ YA romance) 3*
I've hit all my challenges. With some family drama and ::waves hand:: the rest of the state of the world, I'm not sure how I'll be able to concentrate on anything much for the next couple of months. Nothing I'm looking forward to.

My October reads were decent: Autumn Winds by Denise Hunter - 3 stars Autumn Secrets (Katama Bay) by Katie Winters - 4 stars ADHD is Awesome by Penn Holderness - 5 stars The Comeback by Lily Chu - 4 stars I DNF Pumpkin Roll by Kilpack. Spending the Holidays with People I want to Punch in the Throat - 5 stars
This week, I started Life After Power but may not have the heart to finish it now after the election. I'm looking forward to the Katama Bay Thanksgiving book. After that, I'm not sure yet if I'll read the autumn themed Regency Era historical fiction I just checked out on Monday or start Christmas books.
ETA I'm reading aloud an abridged Little Women to my kids because we will be seeing the musical the weekend before Thanksgiving. I don't remember actually reading the book myself when I was younger but know the sad part.

October was so-so.
I enjoyed the following: The Mesmerist The Fabled Earth First Lie Wins
DNF Discovery of Witches, and only made it two chapters into Butcher & Blackbird before putting it back down.
I hope to finish God of the Woods in the next day or two, which I have really enjoyed so far. I think it helped that I had to bring DS to a band thing last night so had nothing to do but sit there and read for two hours so I got through a lot of it. I knew it wouldn't be good for my mental health to scroll election results to I tried to limit it. This will likely be a weekly thing and as much as I'm dreading the drive, I am looking forward to the uninterrupted reading time. Especially since I too am thinking of a social media break.
I did not read any of the books I intended to read in October, but that's ok. I have so many BOTM books waiting to be read and I just loaded my kindle with Libby holds that all came through.

Here was my October:
And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie (audio) - 5 stars Sandwich by Catherine Newman (audio) - 2 stars Daughter of No Worlds by Carissa Broadbent - 4 stars Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros - 3.5 stars Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez - 4 stars Children of Fallen Gods by Carissa Broadbent - 4.5 stars Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie (audio) - 4.5 stars
I don't know if I'm going to hit 100 by year end. I'm at 84 with some finishes this weekend, so maybe?

Aww, that makes me smile even though I know I'll be crying during the show. Our abridged version doesn't have that scene so I need to prep my kids for it in the musical.

Clearly October was stressful for me. November is not going to be any better. I have like 8 books left to wrap up my challenges. So looking forward to that. Also looking forward to the last book in Maasβs Throne of Glass series. Itβs been a bit of a slog to get here, but Iβve really liked the last couple books.

October was a good month quantity-wise, but the quality was just ok:
Lock Every Door - Riley Sager (3 Stars) Drop Dead Sisters - Amelia Diane Coombs (3 Stars) The Locked Door - Frida McFadden (3 Stars) Falling - TJ Newman (4 Stars) Grave Yard Shift - ML Rio (3 Stars) Ninth House - Leigh Bardugo (3 Stars) Lula Dean's Little Library of Banned Books - Kirsten Miller (5 Stars)
Currently I am burying my head in the sand via morally grey spicy novels. Once I get that out of my system, I think I am just about ready for sticky sweet Christmas reads

Iβve already read three in November.
Bethany Joy Lenzβs autobiography was really good and will stick with me. Iβm sure that being obsessed with One Tree Hill adds to my love of it.
In my Dreams I Hold A Knife was also really good. I wish there was a little more character development and relationship background but overall I was very entertained.
Lastly, I really Cinnamon Bun Book Store today which was perfect for what I needed today. I liked it better than Pumpkin Spice Cafe.
Iβll probably be reading a lot of happy Christmas books and maybe some fantasy for the foreseeable future.

October was a weird month for me because I was incredibly busy.
I only finished Ashes and the Star Cursed King by Carissa Broadbant. I liked and I am excited for the next book to come out.
I am currently 200 pages into When the Moon Hatched. Itβs good but there is a ton of world building at the beginning so it is taking me some time.
