Back to school! More motivation! This always feels like a transition period, and a time for new goals and recommitting to old ones. How’d August go? What are you goals this month/ for the rest of the year?

I started the month off with a 30 minute PZE with Ben and some foam rolling with Hannah C.
My goals are to get this ankle rehabbed and to maintain cardio fitness. This month I’m aiming for at least 200 miles on the bike, at least 12,000 yards in the pool, and lifting at the Y at least once/ week in addition to mini Peloton strength sessions. DD has swim one evening a week, so I’m planning to use the weights during that time.

Hello!
We're back from the Adirondacks. I ran twice, got out on my kayak twice, took a couple of walks. I did Hannah's Carnival ride after we got home today.
August was decent. My eating was mediocre. I ran 91.4 miles and rode 110.7 miles.
I need to food prep. I have a teacher workday tomorrow then kids start Wednesday, so I need to get my shit together.
My September goals are to get back into my 4am flow and get back to macros.

I need to hit about 75 miles this month with runs to earn a badge in garmin. i am also adding 2-3 days of strength to my weekly routine.
not tracking food but i am mindful of what i am eating. life is busy. i feel like a hot mess. and life shouldn't be this hard. until it's easier, I am just keeping one foot in front of the other.

Yesterday I went out and did my 6 miles. Not bad, not great. Rest day today and a trip to the zoo so lots of walking.

Morning.
I'm at work today, but it's just a quiet work in our rooms day to prep for students tomorrow, so it's low key and I didn't care what time I came in at. I slept until 5:30 but tomorrow starts 4ams. Woof.
20 minute interval run with Marcel D 20 minute interval run with Susie 10 minute arms and shoulders with RK 5 minute stretch with Marcel M
Yoga tonight, maybe. I need it, but I never sleep well this week, so I don't know if it'll be more helpful or if I'm better off just going to bed a bit earlier. We'll see. My legs felt heavy during the first run and my heart rate was uncooperative during the second, so not a great start to my regular early morning routine, but whatever.
Food prep tonight. I have a salad for lunch today, but I did stop for a half sweet, extra shot oatmeal pumpkin spice latte on my way in. Worth it

I’m vacationing in Door County WI this week and am so happy we were able to reschedule after MH had Covid in July. It is absolutely beautiful here! The weather is perfect so silver lining with our trip being delayed. Lots of walking the past few days but got in a 20 min Bodyweight Strength with Callie yesterday. Today was a hill repeats day so I found a nice elevation spot. I added on a 5 min Post-Run Stretch with SS after. Why is running easier on vacation? Perhaps because of the view. 😉

August was about getting back on track with weights and running, which I did, and kept off all but 1.5 of the 6ish lbs I lost over the summer. I’ll probably gain more back on vacation but worth it.
September goals are to keep up with running 3x/week and strength 3x/week, likely starting Andy’s Total Strength Density 2 next week.

MelanieCarmichael gorg! 😍 we had so much fun there this summer!! (I feel like you and I always take very similar vacations lol). For us though, the drive through Chicago makes it a one time destination for us.

Short run today.
I sprained my ankle playing pickleball last weekend so only did a short bike ride over the days off. I also got some new shoes (Hokas for the first time) and tried them out this morning. Prob shouldn’t have done that on a sore ankle but oops. Both my legs felt tired though. Got 2 miles. The rest of today is busy and I’m putting it here I will lift 2 days later this week.

Almost forgot to put protein powder in my protein shake just now. It is a very Monday-y Tuesday.
5.1 miles done this morning.

I love September as a month to refocus. I’m a bit bummed that I signed up for a 10k I can no longer do, but other than that I’m planning the usual 80km for the month. I ran home today.

For us though, the drive through Chicago makes it a one time destination for us. I felt like we would never get through Chicago. No offense to any Chicagoans. But we’ve already decided we’re coming back in a year or so. This week has been perfect - busy over the weekend but so quiet and low key now. We visited Cana Island lighthouse earlier today and words can’t describe how beautiful it was. I braved my fear of heights to climb to the top. Totally worth it.

Yes!! MelanieCarmichael That was a highlight for us too! From where we are though, it’s a much nicer drive just to go to the northern part of the lower peninsula and get very similar vibes as Door Cty (orchards, wineries, lighthouses etc). We will go back to WI (Dells etc) but just not there.

Good morning!
First day of school here, so of course DD2 was up at 3am. That's ok though, I got an early start on my workout but still cut it short.
30 minute interval run with Logan 10 minute chest and back with Selena 5 minute stretch with Camila
Yoga tonight. I had an extra 10 run in my stack too, but opted to drop it. Also, since H insists on sharing my basement lair with me this year, I may only do my cardio at home in the morning and lift at school. I have two preps and a lunch period all back to back to back, which gives me a two hour gap in my day. So strength may have to go there, which is fine. Doing it at school actually means I'll do longer workouts, so it would honestly benefit me more.
Food is all set. Should be good and on track today.

Took a rest day yesterday— a combination of not a lot of time, and my foot bothering me.
Back at it this morning with a 45 minute low impact ride with Hannah C. And then tonight, DD has swim, so I’ll hit the weights at the Y while she’s in the pool.

My ankle felt instantly better after taking off my hokas yesterday (??) so maybe they’ll be an “around house” shoe? Idk. I’ll try them again next week maybe. anyway I went to play pickleball since it felt fine.
Today was back to the gym for bench which felt pretty good. I still have a bike ride to do today but I’ll leave that for later.

I'm usually not the one to complain about classes, but the new live schedule sucks majorly. No rowing or row bootcamps in the evenings anymore and no walks either past noon or 1 pm. WTF? With the amount of instructors they have, you would think they would better schedule classes, but we seem to be getting less and less.

I can’t run/ attempt any sport in them. Even though the ones I got are supposed to be stability, they’re just so cushiony that they are challenging— like balancing on a foam pad.

I think I've heard before that they have some kind of cap in terms of how much they can workout contractually, especially since they all workout outside of their jobs too. My guess is they prerecord so much stuff that it doesn't always leave much time in the live schedules. I rarely take live classes, so I didn't even notice, but I get it for those who do. They shuffle the schedule usually two or three times a year, so it'll move around again probably in the spring.

Just a 30 min 90s walk outside. I wanted to run but had to unexpectedly go into the office this AM )plus, first day of school) and by the time I got back it was too hot. At least I still did something though.

August was pretty good for me. I felt like I was slacking with my running and not getting enough miles in but when I looked at my mileage I was at 96 for the month. I think focusing on keeping my easy runs easy so I can run my speed days hard has really made an impact. My body doesn’t feel as beat up as when I trained for my first half and my easy run pace is close to a minute per mile faster 😳 I did say in August that I was going to try to add some Peloton strength workouts and that…..did not happen. I would still like to do that but I’m giving myself grace because the start of the school year, both at work and home, is insane.
Tonight was my first run of the month with 5 miles in zone 2. We did a last minute trip to Nebraska for Labor Day weekend so I took Sunday and Monday as rest days. And yesterday just got away from me with it being the first day of school at work. But after a few days off my legs felt fantastic tonight!

bunnyfungo, i just read a post by a professional runner on ig, possibly des, i can't remember. but they were talking about how you really need to take the easy runs easy, your body needs those easy runs in order to run faster. So yes, you are onto something there! Great job and keep it up! I have been doing the easy ones easy and pushing on the hard ones as well. Last night i was holding some of the fastest times yet for multiple minutes. I think i was in the 10's by the end of the run, which was uphill of course and i was dying!!

I have been making a point to ease up on certain runs every week. I'm doing my easy pace at my intended half pace, but normally I like work in the sub-9 range, which is not a true easy day for me. I'm trying, my type A is difficult, but yeah.

Morning.
10 minute warm up ride with Tunde 30 minute dance music ride with Mayla 5 minute cool down ride with Camila
I did not stretch because my children are monsters and were awake and needy. I missed yoga last night due to a late night and will again tonight because we have open house. I won't be home until sometime between 8:30/9pm and will go straight to bed.
Food is tracked and should be on point.
