Tonight was a 4 mile easy run. I’m kind of winging it right now. All those rest days confused the hell out of my watch and now the suggested runs are kind of a mess. It even took my two hour long run off the schedule for this week. Which is laughable because my half is in 2 weeks. So I’m just kinda doing what I want this week. My run tonight was kind of a slog. Pace and heart rate were right where they needed to be but it didn’t feel easy. If that makes sense.

Taking a true rest day today. It's been over a month since I took one. At least, maybe, I don't know. They aren't a thing I usually do. I'll squeeze in a 30 minute yoga tonight and still hit 10k+ steps for the day.

I overdid it Wednesday so took a rest day yesterday. I’m fairly certain we also have low level colds from school. (Binax neg at home)
I felt better today and got out for weights. Squats and overhead press. Felt pretty good, but scrapped cardio for today. I was just too busy around.

my body battery on garmin was drained yesterday, i took an active rest day as i had my first adult kickball game! omg it was so fun and it was pouring down rain. so game was called at bottom of 4th, we were up 4-3. 11 mins left in the game and the monsoon started. so we will have to finish it another day.
Took the dog on a long morning walk and then followed it up with a wilpers 20 min intervals. dude, he pushes you to a 9 out of 10. came home and did a 10 min yoga for runners.
Due to all the rain this week we have soccer evaluations this morning. Baseball practice and just a lot of nothing unless i have too. Hope you all have a great Saturday!

Saturday morning 60 minute PZ with Wilpers. He was not messing around— 3 zone 4’s for 5 minutes each; 3 zone 5’s 3 minutes each; 3 zone 6’s 1 minute each. Those zone 5’s were especially TOUGH.

Morning.
I did Susie's 75 minute run this morning. It's my third time doing that run. I wish they'd add more that length. Should have done a 5 minute run afterwards to get over 8 miles, but oh well. The 7.6 I got was fine. I stretched and I'll do yoga tonight.

I’m just getting back in the swing of routine again. Run club is starting up again but I have my kids like 98% of the time right now so I don’t know how often I’ll be able to actually go, between work, life, kid sports etc. I got on the treadmill at the rec centre the other day while DS1 had hockey and did a 30 min class with Hoskins, then this morning was my first run back with run club - was supposed to be “easy peasy 1 hour” then coach proceeds to take us up some of the steepest hills and trails in the river valley 🙃

Also he always sets up seasonal clinics with goal destination races and this time it’s the Seattle Marathon/half marathon. I’m not signed up for the race yet bc: 1- I’m still mad at Seattle for all the hills there on my first half marathon there in March, and 2- it’s Tday long weekend in the US and that sounds like a travelling nightmare.
Has anyone done that race? Thoughts on Seattle at end of Nov/early Dec?

Hello! I haven’t checked in for a couple of days. Friday I did 3 easy miles. Saturday was supposed to be long run day but it was a mess. I usually have peanut butter toast with banana on top and coffee before I head out and I literally had zero of those things in my house 🥴 I went out with my gels just in case but I could tell it wasn’t going to happen. I think the no caffeine was the worst part. So I decided on 5 miles instead.
Today was a retry. I went to the store yesterday and restocked so I had everything I needed and I treated it like a fake race day. Had the breakfast I plan on having, wore the shoes/clothes I plan on, all the gels I like. It went great! I went out for 2 hours and got 10.6 miles in. That means I would only have to go 2.5 more miles in 30 minutes to hit my goal and I think I can easily do that since most of today’s run was in zone 2. The last 30 minutes or so were zone 3. So with all of the race day adrenaline plus pushing the pace I should be good 🤞 I’m feeling much more confident for this half than I was for the last one. Two more weeks!

I accomplished my 7 miles yesterday. Around mile 5.5 my knee started bothering me. I get home and texted led my SIL - she forgot to tell me she can’t make the half. Back to 3-4 miles and the bike and strength training! I’m relieved.
I iced my knee and took some Motrin last night. Feels much better today but still not “right”.

Hi! It's been a minute since I've been here.
Last year was a whirlwind of weight gain and feelings, and this year I have stabilized and decided that here is where I am (80 lb weight loss) and I am focusing on healthy habits. I have been working out daily for almost two months and feel much better. I am thinking about possibly an arm lift and tummy tuck in 2025 and cooking much more at home, since my younger one got referred to an obesity clinic. I have way too much going on, but life on the whole is pretty okay.

Oh, and I got an Apple Watch and my workouts have increased in intensity considerably since I got it, since I can see my HR on the Peloton. I also get a bunch more activity in overall since I want to close my rings.
My goal this months is to keep up daily workouts (30 min a day) and possibly increase strength training. My primary care and my bariatric surgeon are all up on lifting weights to increase lean muscle mass and age well, so I just have to do it. Oh, and be more compliant with my stupid CPAP, which I still don't like, but helps.
I am proud of having kicked both Diet Coke (at least daily) and my increasing drinking back in August after having to come clean at my doc appts. The booze hasn't been hard at all to kick, which makes me happy and like it really was a temporary phase--I feel like I am back to myself. The Diet Coke will always be a thing for me, so if I can at least keep it to one or two a week, then fine.

I did a 10k yesterday! It felt way less difficult than the one in June I think I will be doing a 5k in 2 weeks and then I have one more 10k in October. It's been so enjoyable to get back into running. I got a pair of Hokas and that made a big difference to the ankle issues I had been having.

Ugh, I didn't realize my early alarm was off this morning and missed my workout. Brought stuff to school to lift and instead got a nasty parent email at 7:40 that sucked up my morning prep dealing with and I missed lifting too.
I just did a 20 minute pace target class and the bang for your buck on those is excellent. They are the correct choice when I only have 20 minutes, but I'm still crabby.
DD2 dance company start tonight and she has dance from 6:30-7:45 tonight, so I don't foresee any yoga happening since it'll be after 8pm by the time we get home.

newspapers if you like diet coke that much you really don't have to cut it out or down to 1 to 2 a week. but you are right, moderation is key, i'd say not more than 1 a day if need be. the more you restrict what you enjoy, the harder it will be to stick to this goal. It sounds like you are doing great, though so keep going!! And enjoy that DC.

last night should have been the day from hell as c had practice at 6 at park 1, i had run club at 6 to host, and A had practice at 7:45 at park 2. Logistics were a bitch but i had a plan. FL had a different plan and monsooned on us alldaylong yesterday. Both practices cancelled, 1 due to monsoon and the other due to flooded fields. But run club went on and we found that perfect window of no rain! 98% of the group was back before the rain came again and the weather was so nice and the humidity was not so high for once!!
I need to get some strength in but today is supposed to be cd1 and i feel like it's gonna kick my ass this month, ugh. My miles today will be from walking the dog. it's also supposed to rain today again.

On Sunday I was volunteering at the NYRR New Balance mile (where Wilpers broke 5 min!), which involved getting there at 6AM, so leaving my place at 5. It was fun but I was just completely wiped out by the end of the day, and chose sleep yesterday morning instead of working out.
This morning I did Leanne’s most recent intervals and arms. The format was not typical. It was a warm up and then three sets, each 8 minutes or so. Intervals, arms, intervals, instead of multiple shorter arms sets. I liked it, but I wish I had more time to tack on an extra 10 or 15 minute ride.

Morning.
20 minute pop run with Olivia 20 minute interval run with Becs
I wanted to lift today, but my tummy is very angry today, so I'm nursing some water instead. Hopefully I'll be good to go for tomorrow. I need to get back to strength training and having to share the basement now is cutting that time off my usual morning routine. Yoga is questionable tonight. DD2 has dance 8-8:45pm, ugh. It's at the closer studio at least, unlike DD1 who has dance 4:45 to 6pm at the further studio. Hoping I can squeeze at least 10,but preferably 20 minutes in before picking her up.

4 miles this morning.
30 min run+walk w/ Susie 15 min 90s run w/ Adrian 5 min post-ride stretch w/ Tunde
The run felt great this morning. I'm assuming it's because I had a late night Sunday night and didn't work out, so I was well rested. I KNOW I need more rest days (or any for that matter) and this is proof. Why are they so damn hard though?

Speed day today. Watch wanted me to do a 10 min warmup, 18 mins at 9:10 pace, and a 10 min cool down. I was a little slow for my threshold pace but I got a PR in the mile at 9:18! Altogether I got 3.6 miles in the total 38 minutes of the workout so that’s not too bad. Whhhhy does my watch have me do such a long time at that pace though?!? That’s faster than my 5k pace and for almost 20 minutes 🥴 Woof.
Does anyone else have a hard to running a slow cool down after a speed workout? My watch kept yelling at me because my pace was too fast but it felt like I was crawling. My legs are stuck in speed mode at that point lol

The last few days were weird but back at it today. Deadlifts which felt good and still increasing some from my summer low. Then to a pool swim which felt SO amazing while I was in the pool that I just kept going. I swam an 800 at one point which I don’t know when the last time I’ve ever done. High school? Anyway I went 2300 total today. Felt a little icky after but I think I just needed carbs lol. I’m with you sweetp I think taking an extra break helped today feel great lol.

bunnyfungo yep that happens to me too!! It’s also really noticeable if I’m doing a tri or brick. The run right off the bike is easy to go “too fast” (unsustainable for me) like sub 9 minutes when my fastest 5k avg is just over 11.
