We have a new puppy! So we're adjusting all our walks and runs/total time he's left alone to account for that. Family walk with him for about 1.5 miles on Saturday, plus a good swim (sans puppy) in the afternoon. Sunday, we did a loop around our neighborhood and introduced him to a lot of neighbors and their dogs. This morning, I got up and did a 30 minute yoga class live with puppy attacking my hair, and we'll go on a couple short walks today.

Had my PT eval for my shoulder this morning. Lots of tightness around the shoulder and an elevated first rib. She did a lot of point release and first rib mobilization and I got some exercises for the stabilizers. Only thing I really need to avoid is overhead presses for right now.

Welp. After False Fall we are in a heat wave again. Which means that I cut my long run on Saturday to 6 miles. My watch wanted me to try for 10 again on Sunday when it was even hotter. No thanks. Today is supposed to be a recovery run but with a heat index of 107° I shan’t be doing that. If the heat doesn’t break tomorrow I’m going to have to treadmill it though 😫

Also I got a call today and there might be an option for an airfare and hotel paid trip to a meet in Australia. Need to work out if it works with my schedule, but might be happening. I picked the wrong damn sport.

So I know I praised RK's latest 3-day split after the 1st week and, trust, there is a lot to love, especially 3 days being so much more manageable than 5.
But after completing the 2nd week, I've decided to change it up. The extra 15 minutes/workout (45 minutes each) isn't the issue but the lengthy warm ups - 7 to 9 minutes - are just not my jam. I feel like it's a lot of wasted time and chit chat when 3-4 minutes would be more than enough. I also don't like working a body part, i.e. biceps, only one day/week. I know that they assist with other moves on other days but I don't feel like I'm getting a well-rounded workout. Working the same muscles more than once a week was one of the things I loved about her 5 day, enough to do it for 6 weeks straight, but 5 days of strength isn't in the cards for me right now. Finally and this is silly, I know, but her schtick has already gotten old, especially the constant cursing. I mean, I am no prude and curse at home (or under my breath at the gym) a little bit but it feels forced and fake for this split vs her other ones. Of course, I can mute but the other issues are still there.
Long-winded vent over, I've decided to go back to 30 minute workouts and do full body 3x/week. I think in terms of where I'd like to be, fitness-wise, especially with ramping up running again, this makes the most sense.
I did a 30-min Full Body Strength workout with RK as I still love her and loved it immensely more, even without as much rest. I added on a 5-min Full Body Stretch with Logan.

MelanieCarmichael have you tried Andy's density training program at all? I did a round of that a while back and enjoyed it. In case you want to look at other options. Ben just released another version of Stronger You that is all 20 minute workouts.

Last week I got in 4 walk and runs, barefoot on the beach, each between 2 and 5 miles. Plus a few sessions of stand up paddle boarding and some peloton barre sessions.
Back in Brooklyn now and I did Denis’ 30 minute Sample That ride, plus PT. I start teaching at one place tomorrow. PRP on Thursday. 😬

Morning.
4am was hard but I feel so good now! I'm excited for the start of school soon and getting back into my regular routine. Minus the sharing the basement with H part. Space invader, grumble.
30 minute interval run with Hannah F Extra 10 run with Susie 10 minute arms and shoulders with JJ 5 minute stretch with Camila
I need to foam roll, but it'll probably wait until tomorrow. Yoga tonight.
MIL is coming today and staying the night since I work tomorrow too, so I'll probably order pizzas tonight.

My planned Saturday morning long run (8 or so miles) ended up being 5.5 miles. My kid saw me getting ready and wanted to go too (on her bike). I was not thrilled (she's been super clingy lately and I just wanted to be alone), but it turned out really well- I made her so happy and it was kind of like way back in the day when I used to take her on stroller runs (but easier since I didn't have to get myself and her up these big ass hills).
Anyway, I got 8 miles done yesterday and will be heading out to the gym in a few for a little strength workout. Good times!

In the four months that I haven't done much outdoor running I forgot that I can't wear tank tops on any kind of long-ish run. I ran 6 miles outside on Saturday and chafed the crap out of my upper arms, ouch.
Running is so fun!

It’s still hot. My mtn bike is slow. Got 11 miles done.

I got to try out my new shoes today! I decided on the Kinvara 14s. They seem to be one of those shoes you either love or hate. I’m finally at a point where I understand what I like in a shoe so after reading some reviews I decided to give them a shot. Holy shit. I love these things! They are so light and airy and I feel like my form was better running in them. Obviously it was just one run and it could be a fluke but I’m so happy!
Today’s run was a 37 min base run for 3.3 miles. I managed an 11:09 pace in zone 2! It was just one of those random really good run days. I need a day like that on race day because if I can run that pace in zone 2, I will smash my half PR.

Morning.
30 minute interval run with Jess Sims 10 minute chest and back with Matty 5 minute core with Tunde 5 minute stretch with Marcel M
Yoga tonight. I missed it last night because we always tend to stay up too late when MIL stays over.
I was really slow to get going today. It usually takes me about two weeks to get fully back into the swing of early mornings, but after today I'm done with early mornings until Tuesday.
We'll be fed at school today and I'll likely grab lunch out with other teachers, so food is whatever.

I can usually double tap my screen to create a "lap" or segment. Yeah it works for me if I’ve selected a run or walk, but for some reason I can’t ever get it to work if I’m tracking under “multisport”. Is this the Apple Watch? Because you can do “add workout” now and switch between workout types without needing to select multi sport.

45 minute endurance run with Mariana last night on the Tread. Look, I know I've said this before, but Peloton instructors have got to stop putting Adam's Song in run segments because I will start ugly crying when he says "please tell mom this is not her fault" and then I'll have to stop and walk because I can't breathe.

Swim today. Did a mix of long and steady with just a couple sprints. My watch died near the end but I got about 1800 in.
Also had my yearly physical today so feeling very accomplished 🤣

It doesn't matter what top, shirt, bra I run in, it always happens once I crack the hour plus mark.

Skipped my workout today because I had either an IBS or diverticulitis flare yesterday and still wasn't feeling so hot this morning. Hoping to get back to it tomorrow.

Today was a threshold run. I think my watch is trying to kill me. 10 min warmup, 20 mins at 9:15 pace, 10 min cool down. I did not hit that pace lol. Averaged 9:53. To be fair, it’s CD1 so I feel like trash. My heart rate was actually probably too low for a threshold run but my legs just couldn’t do it. I knew it wasn’t going to be a great run when I started and in a perfect world I would have moved it to a different day. But this is when it had to be. Oh well.
