I can’t believe already August! How was July? What are your goals this month? Any fall events you’re training for?

I ended July with 225 miles on the bike, which was a little low, but it was my busiest work month, and I had a couple of days away with no bike access, so I’m happy with that.
Goals this month are to keep with PT twice/ week, 200+ miles on the bike (I’ll be away for a week plus a long weekend but I think I can make that), swimming 1 x a week and strength 2 x a week.

August already, holy crap this year is flying!
For July I cycled 90.9 miles and ran 91.4 miles. My water intake was good, but I've been bad at actually tracking it because Garmin changed and I can't get my water tracker on my home screen anymore and it's annoying AF. My weight, oof, slowly climbing back up. I need to fix that
August will be all of the same; run and ride a minimum 83 miles each respectively, focus on water, try not to gain weight, be better about doing yoga at night. We've been going to bed so much later than normal, it's been hard to muster up the desire to start after 9pm.
This morning I got in a decent workout before we head out for a long weekend of camping.
20 minute climb ride with Hannah F 15 minute low impact ride with Dr Charlotte 10 minute arms and shoulders with Ben 5 minute stretch with Emma
We'll do a lot of biking at this particular campground. I'll run in the mornings too even though it's going to be hot as hell.

Good morning! I went to OTF this morning and Marathon month has commenced. I was able to get 2.5 miles in the 23 minute block. Which actually beat my previous 23 minute run for distance mileage of 2.45. So I’m really happy with that. I feel strong right now, and I’m happy about my muscle gains.
That said, TW for intentional weight loss:
I am struggling with my body in a way I haven’t for a while. My metabolism is just completely different after the third kid, and probably bc late 30s, and it’s mentally getting to me. I’m doing everything right- eating lots of protein, drinking water (I admittedly could do better here), but I just can’t make myself go back to counting macros because I get obsessive about it and it’s also not mentally healthy.
So anyway, I decided to try out Hers weight loss program. You get set up with a doctor depending on your goals, and everything is through telehealth. I knew I didn’t want to do injectables, because the risks for me outweighed the benefits, but the oral medications I think are the right choice for me. I strongly suspect I am insulin resistant (my sister is, and all signs point to it), and one of the drugs is a low dose of metformin in week 3. So I’m hoping I can pretty much keep everything else the same and that these meds will help a bit. I actually won’t be able to start until mid August because they are being sent to our house which we aren’t at lol. But that’s the plan. I did some research and reviews are good. It’s under a physician’s guidance without the hoops of finding an appt, and a much lower cost most likely ($79/ month for the 5 month plan, if anyone was curious).

My July didn't end quite as I had hoped. Got just 63 miles for the month. We went to Hilton Head for a week and I ran on the beach twice (found a sea star on my second run), plus we rode out to a different beach (about 4 miles from where we staying). Pretty decent. But I had a final exam for a class that was due the weekend we came back and my laptop was being weird so I couldn't use the program so I had to do the whole thing on our desktop when we got back (approximately 15 hrs of work over three days). That shot my chance for a weekend long run, then my kid was home with me on Monday so I didn't feel like I could just leave her (since I wfh and I didn't want to explain why I had time to run but not time to listen to a play by play of a youtube video please someone tell me this misery will end).
I finally got myself out of bed early today for 3 miles. My weekend is looking good for a longer run, and my kid goes back to school early next week so I can get back to my routine wfh schedule. I've also been better about avoiding gluten so my skin is finally clearing up, gosh it was a mess.

I got meds from Hers for my hair because I am again having issues with excessive shedding and thinning. It was so easy with the telehealth they have. H and I were just talking about the pill form of the weight loss drug instead of injectables and getting some (Hers for me and Hims for him, but same company, obviously). If you beat us to it let me know how it goes. Post third baby has been an immense struggle for me with my body and after four years I'm pretty over it.

cnf H is considering Hims as well! I will definitely let you know. The meds were actually delivered to our house, but we won’t be home till end of next week lol. I will likely start right after we get back.

Oof. I felt sicky on Sunday which bled into Monday and a little on Tuesday. This is also a really wonky out of sorts week so I hadn’t done anything until today 😬
Anyway got out for an easy bike ride (with my mom!) for about 10 miles.

July was about survival and healing for me. I was on medical leave all month and spent a lot of time outdoors - walking and hiking and sometimes running. So my exercise looked different but I did what I needed to do. I’m feeling better but still have a was to go.
August goals will be to get back to doing some strength consistently as I haven’t been doing that. I’m also continuing to work on my shoulder and neck mobility. And then keeping up running enough in case my cousin talks me into a November half marathon. I can’t decide if I’m up for it.
Today was a recovery day - a couple of dog walks and a 30 min r ‘n b yoga flow with Aditi.

hello august. My main goal this month is to add in at least 10 mins of yoga to my day. I plan on continuing working on endurance and interval runs to help my pace. I have signed up for a FREE virtual 10k called the bimbo run...go sign up, free sway. runsignup.com/Race/PA/ChooseYourLocationVirtualRace/USAGlobalenergyraceI plan on training for a 17k but that is a January race. In the meantime I have been thinking about a November half. but just not sure if I want to commit. I was able to get up today and do an early morning run. And working from home so I was able to fit in 3.5 miles!

2.4 miles through the campground this morning. It's so humid it legit looks foggy. I was dripping even though it was only like 70F out. Made breathing hard too. Even at an upper zone 2/low zone 3, my usual cruising HR, I was sucking wind. Gross. It's supposed to storm this afternoon and I'm really hoping the humidity breaks.

July was a hot mess for me and I have barely worked out, except for walking now and then.
Less than two weeks into the month, I had to take my mom to the ER. She is fine but at 81, she is definitely slowing down and that's hard to take and pretty much all of the heavy lifting of helping her continues to fall on me even though I have 4 siblings who live within 15-20 minutes of her vs me being 3 hours away. Some decisions need to be made as I am tired of the back and forth, which really ramped up during Covid. One of my sisters is helping a pinch more of late but I worry about it sticking.
Anyway, while I was preparing to come home, MH tested positive for Covid, which meant I had to stay up there longer vs us trying to isolate in our tiny 2B, 1BA home and we had to cancel our vacation to Door County WI. Thankfully, he had a fairly mild case (hooray for vaccines!) In the scheme of things, I guess it had to find him or me eventually and he had a good run and (knock on wood), I still haven't gotten it AFAIK.
Sorry for the novel, folks. My plan is to get back on track next week and I see RK has a new 3-day split that I think is just what I'm needing as well as continuing to work through my 5k race plan. There's a 5k I have my eye on in late October and the event is an annual one and where I ran my first 5k race what seems like a million years ago.
Unsurprisingly with caring for my mom and stressing about MH, I actually lost weight this past month and am down about 5 lbs. Not the way I'd want to go about it but I'll use it as a springboard to keep working on healthier eating and starting more structured workouts again.

Back at it. Did a run today and it was supposed to be slow but I wasn’t sure how I’d feel. It was hot and muggy already but I made it 35 min (a few walk breaks) before I started having some palpitations and walked the rest of the way home. Overall really happy with that. Got a 5k in. Race is next weekend and I’m feeling ok that I’ll be able to do decent job.

Went to OTF this morning. It was a 3G which I really don’t like, but it was a good workout.

Took a nice walk this morning, and just got back from a short swim. Taking it somewhat easy this week while we visit my parents and try to work.

Hello! July was pretty good for me. I have no idea if I had any goals 😅 I got in 80 miles which I think is pretty good considering I had two vacations, one of which was a week away from home. I’m just proud that I ran during those! I don’t have any particular mile goals for August, just keep going with my half plan. I have a race coming up next weekend that I’m still deciding between doing the 5k or the 10k. Then my half is September 21. Oh. I should probably get back to some strength workouts. I haven’t been on Peloton in a hot minute and I’m still paying for it. I’m thinking about working my way through the strength for runners classes or maybe RK’s new split.
Yesterday I did an interval workout. It was 8 x 1 minute at 7:30 pace followed by 3 minute recovery. Altogether with warm up and cool down it was a little over 4.5 miles. Today was a 3 mile easy run. For the last few days I’ve just been following what my watch tells me and it does a pretty good job. Like it has a 1 hr 49 min long run for tomorrow which is basically exactly 9 miles at my usual pace and 9 miles is what I had originally planned for this weekend. AI is spooky lol

Happy Friday. I made it through week 1 back at work with my mental health in one piece.
Went for a 2 mile dog walk with a friend and then went out for a 30 min progression run with Becs. The run felt really good but my pace was slower than I expected. Oh well - I ran the whole time and felt good. Finished with a 10 min stretch with Hannah C and Ally and a 5 min neck mobility with RK.
ETA: omg. I’m an idiot - I read my pace wrong. It was actually exactly what I was expecting and not the disappointing number I thought. Phew.

45 minute live PZ ride with Wilpers and a 10 minute arms with Hannah C this morning. I liked the format of the PZ ride a lot— 30 seconds zone 5, 30 seconds zone 2, repeat 4 times, then repeat 5 times, then 6, and then back down the pyramid. Zone 1 recoveries in between sets.

I cut my long run short today. I only had 7 miles in me. This fucking 80% humidity is going to kill me. My long runs this training cycle have been so sucky, it’s making me nervous that I’ll actually do worse on my next half. I have to remind myself that all of my long runs for my first half were done in like 40° temps and summer is kicking my ass. Hopefully fall shows up soon. Race day will be a fun surprise because in Wisconsin 7 weeks from now could be snowing or 90° 🙃

Morning.
I did the same 2.4 miles campground loop. It's equally as miserably humid out today, so I ran from where we are in the last loop at the bottom of the hill to the top before weaving through the loops on my way back down. The opposite of how I ran them yesterday and the smarter choice. I wanted to run the full perimeter around the park so I could finish through the marina, but I got a late start and it's definitely over 3 miles, and I try to be considerate of how long I'm out for when we're camping.
Anyways, that's it for me today. I had ice cream for lunch

I don’t remember what my goals were for July but it was fine - run club 2-3 times a week as able. I’ve started with a personal trainer to work on strength and mobility, and hopefully avoid injuries. I did a couple 5-6km runs in my neighbourhood this week, then two 1h runs yesterday for approx 10 miles. It was supposed to be 2h straight but I tried the first bit in new shoes and they were making my toes numb so I had to go home and switch shoes after an hour. Lol.
I was saying to the bf last night - it feels like I’m not making much progress but then I realized I ran an hour straight with no stops and I def couldn’t do that last year. So I’ll take it.
I’ve also convinced him to join the summer session of run club with me (it’s all track work and slow long runs) so that just started this week too. Fun!
ETA half is in 2 weeks! Eek!

3000 yd swim this morning. The Y pool opens at 8 for lap swim and I live about 2/3 mile from it. I had walked most of the way there and realized I had forgotten my towel! (My Y does not provide them.) So then I had to hustle back home, grab one, and hustle back to the Y. I got to the pool at 8:10— it was a frenzied start to my workout.

We got home from camping a bit ago. Glad I didn't get to run outside today, it's hotter and more humid than it's been all week. It's absolutely miserable outside. I hopped on my bike for a 30 minute PZE ride with Ben, then a 5 minute core and a 5 minute stretch. Yoga tonight has to happen. It's been like a week and I need it.

Today was 4 easy miles. It was still hot and humid as hell but it was overcast. What a difference it makes not having the sun beating down on you. I wish I’d felt this good for my long run yesterday.

I got in a little extra evening workout— 20 minute low impact with Hannah F, extra 10 low impact with CDE, and a 5 minute post ride stretch.
