Morning.
45 minute PZE with Hannah 5 minute core with RK 5 minute stretch with Emma
Yoga tonight. Missed it last night because bedtime didn't happen until damn near 10pm. Damn these kids staying up late all summer. Sure as shit doesn't stop them from being awake for the day by 6am though. Ugh, monsters.
The kids and I are headed to Syracuse for the night, so food will be meh, but I'll get to run long outside tomorrow, so yay for that!

Guys. I DID IT!!! 29:42!!!!! I’m so excited and proud of myself. I didn’t go out too fast and I found a couple of girls that I could tell were going at the pace I needed and I just didn’t let them out of my sight. At about 1 mile to go I made a move and passed them and just pushed to the end. Yayyy. Way to go!!

A slow and hot 5k this morning, but it was out in the countryside so that made it a bit better.

Also, what a finish in the women’s marathon! And an Olympic Record on that hilly course! Sifan Hassan is amazing! I was glad to see Hellen Obiri got the bronze too. I love to root for her.

I'm bummed I slept through it! I was just looking at the finish results. That course is crazy. What a course to set a new OR on!

Good morning! It is beautiful outside! I got outside for 7 lovely miles. I felt good, minus my legs feeling heavy the last two miles. Probably shouldn't do two days of lower body weights before a long run. But I averaged the pace I'd like to average for my half marathon (between 9:30-9:50ish) very comfortably, so that felt good. Followed it up with a 5 minute stretch and I will absolutely need my favorite 20 minute yoga tonight. We're taking the kids to the trampoline park later, so I'll probably do a bunch of bouncing too, lol.

Race day!! My mom and I did a sprint tri today, delayed from last year when she developed shingles. My sister joined and did the swim only (half distance).
I was excited/nervous as this race course is much hillier. The water was awesome though. Clear and sandy. My swim did not ever feel great, I’ve slacked my swim training in favor of the run, but even so was first in my age group out of the water.
The bike was awful. I felt ok to start, hills weren’t TOO bad, but idk it just started feeling terrible. Headwind on the way back didn’t help. My avg HR on the bike was 170 (😳). Maybe the hills were too bad.
As such the beginning of my run felt so bad. I took several walk breaks but just before the turn around I started feeling better and cruised in.
Overall I’m really happy I was able to finish stronger than I felt I would while biking. I still came in under my low bar goal of 1:55 and a sub 40 run and 5th out of 9 in my age group.
Bragging on my fam though; my sister won first overall for the half distance swim (1.2 miles) and my mom was first in her age group for the sprint tri.

This last week was not what I wanted in terms of mileage. I missed both nights of run club because with daycamp pickups we weren’t getting home til 5:30 or later and that’s when it starts, 20 min away. I did manage to PR a 5k around my neighbourhood one of the evenings though so maybe I should triple book myself and feel stressed and stretched thin more often.
Yesterday was 10k with run club which was slow/conversational for everyone else and basically race pace for me 🤣. But I did it and it felt comfortable enough so I’m feeling good about my half next weekend. Today was a slow, hot 5k around the neighbourhood.

That’s awesome beepers! What are the distances for each in a sprint tri? This was 750m swim, 20k bike, and 5k run. I’ve seen swim distances vary a bit on the sprint; usually between 500-750m.

That’s awesome beepers! What are the distances for each in a sprint tri? Sprints don't have a set distance. Depending on what race you do they're kind of all over the place. The only thing that typically holds true is the run being 5k. The swim and bike are variable. After that it's Olympic, half iron, and full iron which are all set distances for all three disciplines. Awesome job beepers!! Way to get out there and crush it!

I haven’t updated in a bit but I’m cruising along. I’ve been focusing on running and yoga as that feels good right now and I’m still trying to balance everything.
Got out today for a 60 min endurance run with Wilpers. Got in just about 5 slow miles. Felt good even though I had a lot of wind against me on my way back.
I have a colonoscopy mid week so this week will be all about meditations and restorative yoga.

Morning.
30 minute interval run with Susie 15 minute interval run with Kirsten 10 minute arms and shoulders with Tunde 10 minute stretch with Logan
Yoga tonight. Maybe foam rolling. My legs are a bit sore today, but I flew through just shy of 5 miles still because the rest of me was feeling really good. My breath control and heart rate were so cooperative.
Grocery shopping and food prep today. Back on track.

I had a very sedentary week last week, only went on one walk and spent my pool time mostly floating around. Back to regular life this week, though DD is home with me while I work, so less chances for random daytime walks. I started the day with a 30 minute power yoga live, and will walk later.

OTF this morning. Yesterday and Saturday were true rest days, and I think my body needed them. I went to my 5 am class today and felt refreshed, which was good, because it was the Inferno workout. Lots of rowing. Not much running. I didn’t quite match my previous record, but I got pretty close, and I’m okay with that.

Back to the gym today, and I’m glad this program eases back in after race week 😅😅😅
Debating doing a swim/bike race next month, or maybe I’ll ask the girls to do a relay with me. It sounded fun yesterday and today it sounds exhausting.

I finally caught up here! Congrats on your marathon, jaidit! What an amazing setting, too. Way to get that sub-30 5k, bunnyfungo! It’s a goal of mine. Maybe someday. Fantastic tri, beepers! You all continue to impress the hell out of me. 👏

I hurt my back late in the week before last and it’s just now feeling okay so I finally got back to working out.
I’ve decided to give RK’s 3 day split a go as I am liking the idea of 3 days of strength/ week with running on the in-between days and also some much needed yoga.
- 45 min Pull Upper Body Strength - 5 min Upper Body Stretch with Matty
Given I’ve been away from strength training for 6 weeks 😔, I dialed back on the weights and am hoping that’s short-lived. But holy hell to the 90 bicep curls with very little rest in the last 3rd of the class.
It feels good to get back into my routine though.

Tonight was 4 miles for me. My watch was mad at me because I ran too fast and that combined with all of the hills made my heart rate too high for it to be a “base run”. Oops. I felt great though so meh. On Mondays my kids have cheer so I get to run in a different city and I’m looking on the bright side that I get all this extra hills training. At least I get nice views running along the river the whole time too!
