coldcoffee I got the Garmin Forerunner 265. I absolutely love it! I was actually able to put in my upcoming half marathon and my goal pace and it creates workouts specifically for that goal. I like that it also adjusts day by day for you. You can look a week ahead at your suggested workouts but it will change them if it needs to. Like today was originally supposed to be an interval workout for me but last night I got a sleep score of like 50 and it switched it to a base run. The pace targets have also been spot on. The race predictor is a bit aggressive though. It thinks I can hit 2:15 for my half and I’m like….oh, Gertie. Ooooh I love that! My Garmin doesn’t do the time predictions or custom workouts like that, maybe I need a better one! (I have the vivoactive 5)

My main Garmin watch, my 920XT, is like ten years old and still trucking along just fine. Plus I have a vivoactive 4s, so I'd have a REALLY hard time justifying a new watch right now, lol

Today was a sprint interval workout. It was a 15 minute warmup, 9 x 10 second sprint (5:55 target pace) with 3 minute rest, 10 minute cool down. I got 4.3 miles altogether in 50 minutes and I nailed it with pace on my sprints with an average 5:54 pace. It blows my mind that there are people that can run that fast for an entire marathon. Just doing 10 seconds was hard enough 😅

Got myself psyched to run after getting the kids on the bus this morning, only to find our dirt road is a muddy, sloppy mess. So, I turned my treadmill on for the first time in 3 months and resigned myself to the basement. 30 min walk + run w/ Kirsten 15 min 90s run w/ Matty 5 min cool down walk w/ Kirsten 5 min post-run stretch w/ Wilpers 5 min post-run stretch w/ Marcel Can I please word vomit for a minute? I'm in the WORST mood. It's my birthday weekend (Monday) and H decided to invite my parents over, mainly because we offered our massive playset to a neighbor's daughter for her kids and we need my dad's heavy equipment to move it. But my mom was all "we can stay the weekend and celebrate sweetp's bday!" and H was like "GREAT IDEA". Don't get me wrong, I love my parents, but I was really looking forward to doing what I wanted to do this weekend, which involves sleeping in, going to the gym, wandering the fancy mall, taking myself out to an alone lunch, and not doing any cooking. Now I won't even leave to go to the gym because I'll feel guilty leaving everyone. And H and my Dad's thing is grilling and smoking meat, so I'm sure it will be a weekend of smoked meat ( ) and me making sides instead of fun happy hours and a nice date night/dinner out. Plus, I'm sure H will get me another "mom" necklace that I won't wear (I got my 4th in 3 years for mother's day this year. I have a necklace that I wear every day that has significant meaning to me, so I don't know what his end game is). Ugh. It will be fine. I always get into a funk around my birthday and this whole thing is just the icing on the cake. I do feel better getting it all out though. Thank you for listening to my first-world problem pity party.

sweetp, I would be super bummed about it all too. Especially not getting food that I specifically want and also the necklace thing. Like has he not noticed that you don't wear the ones he's gotten you? Also, getting 'mom' stuff on a birthday is very ick to me? It's a day about you, the whole of you, not a portion of you that didn't even exist when you were born if that makes any sense. Honestly though, I think you should stick with at least part of your original plan. You know, it'll be a good chance to just let your parents enjoy being around their grandkids and let your h do all the hosting responsibilities since he thought it was a great idea. You didn't set it up, it's not your guilt to take on.

sweetp birthdays are hard! Can you use the free babysitting to get out for a date with your H, at least?

sweetp, I would be bummed too! I think you should still try to get some time to yourself at least for the gym! Any chance you can head off the necklace gift, and tell your H that since you’re not getting the birthday weekend alone time you’d been planning on, you’d love a gift card for an indulgent just-you experience to use at another time? Like a pedicure, massage, spa day, etc? Also, can you just order/ pick up some food to go with their bbq’s instead of having to cook? Not the same as what you’d planned, but it might make it nicer for you, bday girl! I hope you end up having a nice time after all.

Go to the gym and maybe go out for a fancy coffee since that's quicker than a lunch out. Order premade sides and paper plates and make you're H pick up the bulk of the hosting and cleaning duties. He invited them and derailed your plans, so they sound like a him problem to me.

Howdy.
I've been frantically cleaning and packing. The kids and I are headed back out to Syracuse, again, do another extended stay at my parent's house. I have my race out there tomorrow and we have a celebration of life for H's cousin on Tuesday, so I figured the kids and I would go out tonight for my race in the morning then just stay through.
Anyways, I biked today even though Fridays are running days. I want my legs in racing run shape for tomorrow. For my very noncompetitive and very wet local yocal 5k, lol.
10 minute warm up ride with Mila 20 minute sweat steady low impact with Jess King 10 minute arms and shoulders with JJ 10 minute stretch with Kirsten
Yoga tonight.
Food will likely just suck for the next five days.

I love these ideas and they're definitely helping me out of my funk! I know it will be fine and it will all work out. It just sucks. But yes, I'm making this all an H problem. I don't have the bandwidth lately. The babysitting idea is actually good - I hadn't thought about it since the kids are 12 and 13 and we already leave them to go out to dinner and stuff but never later at night. We're always home by 9 or so. Maybe we'll make an actual date night.

Happy early birthday, sweetp, and good for you for putting the heavy lifting for your birthday weekend back on him as it should be. I'd try to head off yet another mom necklace, too, and maybe this sounds mean, if he doesn't take the hint, I'd return it and use the money for something that is for the whole you.

Lunchtime workout done
- 45 min Push Upper Body Strength with RK
Having finished the first week of her new 3-day split, I almost had myself convinced that today's workout wasn't that hard, certainly it was easier than Leg Day, but that tricep kickback and pushups finisher made me rethink things. My plan is to repeat for the next 6-8 weeks as I love that it's only 30 days even if 45 minute workouts seem so much harder than 30 minute.
- 5 min Upper Body Stretch with Ally

I went to OTF yesterday morning and this morning. I was gassed today, but was still able to get up to 10 mph on the treadmill for the short all outs. The strength portion was good, and no rowing today, which I always like. 😂
I started the meds from Hers on Saturday, so it’s been almost a week. So far it’s only low doses of a couple of the meds (not metformin yet, for a couple weeks) and I’m feeling good. I am sure it will take some time for them to really hit my bloodstream.

Don't know if I ever updated, ortho thinks my shoulder is just inflammation/tendinitis because I still have good ROM and strength. Back to PT.

First post-race run ✅
It was stormy today so I waited that out and of course now it’s sunny and muggy lol. 2 slow miles. Felt about as expected which was not amazing but the whole fam went (DS on his bike) so that made it more enjoyable.

This month has been pretty blah for me. Trying to get back into this is after a break, then my shoulder started bothering me (but not the side that was an issue last year so neato). That is improving, lifts finally went well this week, seem to be making some progress on the "I don't wanna" attitude I've had toward training lately, so that's a plus.
Doing a charity deadlift comp tomorrow. Might pull a lot, might phone it in. We will see.

5k race done. I finished in 26:59, so not my fastest post DS 5k time, but still decent. I held a 8:33 pace for the first like 2.25 miles. It was a head wind on the way out so I figured that with a tail wind I could maintain that pace, but the humidity was just soul crushing. My HR was crazy high and it just caught me with about three quarters left. I hate my last mile being my slowest, but I still placed second in my age group and got a wine glass for an award, so I guess I'll pop a bottle of wine from my parents wine cooler tonight and celebrate!

Took a rest day yesterday and went out for 9 miles tonight. I hit a 12:00 pace but was about 50/50 in zones 2 and 3. That probably has more to do with the 95% humidity than anything. I felt strong and I didn’t have to walk up any of the hills including the monster one at mile 8.5. Feeling slightly more confident in my goal time for my half. Five more weeks!

Hi.
I needed to get out for a long run today, but it started storming shortly before I could get out, so I was relegated to the basement and my parent's bummy treadmill. I mean, I'm grateful they have a full basement gym setup, but I still hate their treadmill. And of course it said it was going to rain all morning, but it was done by the time I came up, so I could have still gotten out for something. Ugh. Anyways.
30 minute tread boot camp with Marcel M 5 minute warm up run with Mayla 5 minute stretch with Jess Sims 1.5 mile walk with the dog
I couldn't keep up with the call outs in the class because my parent's treadmill is SO SLOW to change speeds. So slow. And it feels like I'm running through sand. Bleh. Treated the warm up run as an extra run for a smidge more distance. Hopefully I can get out tomorrow.
