My Olympics viewing experience is very much interrupted by my children this time around (was much easier when they were younger and I'm hoping it'll again be easier when they're four years older). But I'm trying to keep up. So many amazing things happening today. ❤️

I haven’t filled in but I saw track and field yesterday, it was just great. We watched the steeplechase, hammer throw, 110 h, long jump and 400. So exciting!  |

Yes. I believe one her leaps was downgraded. I think it was the split leap 1.5 turn (aka tour Jete full) and it was downgraded to a split leap full on her initial difficulty score. You can inquire the difficulty and they do a video review to look at all the elements credited and this is what happened. On the review they gave her the credit and it raised her score by 0.1. Inquiries aren't uncommon though most often the score isn't changed. I have actually seen the score go down after an inquiry. This happened to Jade Carey at 2022 worlds. She went from bronze alone to a tie for bronze though. It just so happened the inquiry was successful AND it changed the bronze medal when she was the last gymnast in the Olympic final. I do feel terrible for Ana though. And now of course people are giving Jordan crap online. |

I finally got to watch the beam and the floor. Wow. I did not see any of that coming. I’m really happy for Rebecca Andrade. She is one of the greatest gymnasts I’ve ever seen. Her career just happens to overlap with the GOAT. I’m happy for Jordan too. I was surprised her score was so low at first so I’m happy they recognized the difficulty change. I feel bad for the Romanian gymnast but Jordan’s routine was better.
I also really enjoyed the women’s 800m race. The gold medal winner from GB, Keely Hodgkinson is amazing to watch. The way she pulls away at the end is so crazy.
The pole vault actual final and the winner getting a world record was very cool. (Poor penis man was not involved).

I really didn’t want to pay for another streaming service but being able to watch the Olympics on demand has been better than I thought. I’ve watched a lot of events that aren’t normally given air time. The hardest part has been staying unspoiled!

The commentary on the taekwondo is amazing. I was actually laughing at their quips.
I’m pissed that Noah Lyles competed with Covid and was around all the athletes and medics. And his mom hung out with Snoop today. She knew. I hate him.

It was incredible listening to the announcers for the W 1500 m seamlessly use they/them pronouns for Nikki Hiltz. Hiltz identifies as transgender and nonbinary. They are local to me so I’m extra proud of their performance and being a role model on the big stage.

This isn’t 2020 or even 2022. Covid is different now. There are treatments and vaccines. I think I would have done the same thing. |

So you don't know when he started feeling symptoms or if because of his asthma he felt the affects only after exerting himself greatly. Also how many athletes are competing with COVID right now without knowing? Probably a lot.

Clearly they aren’t testing and isolating etc. I do worry about their long covid risks etc from competing during their infection/recovery. |
