It's an older book, but I just finished The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson and it was so good! Literally could not put it down There’s two more to the series, if you liked that one! I just finished the 3rd one, it just came out.

I finished A Talent for Murder and it was ok. I’m not a huge fan of the main characters in the series but it was a quick and easy read.
I also read Keep it in the Family by John Marrs and woooow was that book fucked up lol. I did like it, the writing was solid and it kept me guessing all the way through but man, it was dark.
I read 10% of The Next Mrs. Parrish and returned it because I couldn’t take another dark protagonist right now.
I’m going to read Bad Tourists next by Caro Carver. She’s a new to me author (she also writes under C.J. Cooke I think) but hopefully it’s good.

I’m about halfway through the Frozen River and I’m close to buying it on Kindle so that I can switch off between the audio and reading. It’s so good and I have had trouble putting it down!
I finished the third Grant County book, A Faint Cold Fear. It was decent, but I am starting to have an issue with Karin Slaughter starting plot points and them vanishing into the ether. Like multiple Grant County books have involved some piece of evidence that ends up not mattering or being considered. Why mention it?? It seems lazy. Also I really don’t like one of the characters (Lena, for those who have read the books- she is homophobic, but that’s only one reason I really can’t stand her).
I started one of my NetGalley ARCs- The Merriest Misters. Seems cute so far.

My brother wants me to read the magicians by lev grossman. Anybody read this one? I think the show was fun but most of the male characters were a bit eye rolly for me. So I'm pretty sure I wouldn't enjoy the book as the reviews I've read have confirmed that. But he wrote a book for tweens called The Silver Arrow and that was great.

I saw something about Sarah Maas special edition books being sold at different stores having special bonus chapters? Anyone know anything about that? There are two chapters in acotar. One is Azriel and the other is Feyre and someone else. I don’t want to mention just in case it’s a spoiler. The crescent city series has a few bonus chapters. Each book seller got different editions with a different chapter. I think there are 4 or 5 chapters. All of them are easy to google.

I am still reading The Hades and Persephone books. I am on book 6. I have slowed down with my reading a bit because I have been cross stitching. 😂

I just finished Light from Uncommon Stars, and while it was not my usual genre, it was definitely in the top 10 I've read this year. Think, feminist-LGBTQ+ Douglas Adams.
Currently I'm listening to Four Eids and a Funeral - so far I'm liking it.

I just finished listening to Every Time I Go On Vacation Someone Dies. It was a fun murder mystery. The author breaks down the fourth wall a lot and I don’t know how I would have liked that reading it, but the narrator was great so it worked well in audio. I’ll definitely read the next in the series whenever it comes out.

I’m still not even half way through Middle of the Night
I don’t know if it’s I don’t have time or if I’m not interested enough to make time for it

I finished Don’t Go Down There today. It was a very quick thriller. It was getting a bit stale but then had a couple of things happen that I just didn’t see coming so for that, it got 4 stars.

I finished Just the Nicest Couple a few days ago and that was absolutely terrible. I gave it 2 stars but honestly that is generous. The writing was so bad and the ending sucked.
Reading Husbands and Lovers now. Too early to tell but it’s getting great reviews.

I just finished Getaway by Zoje Stage and I'm disappointed. After reading Baby Teeth I was waiting for a twist and....boring. ugh

I have Mothered by same author to read next and now I'm not sure if I want to 😞
I liked Baby Teeth a lot so last library run I picked up both of these thinking they'd be just as good 🤣

wedding did you read Everyone in my family has killed someone or Everyone on this train is a suspect? Sounds similar to the one you just mentioned with the breaking of the 4th wall, I just finished both on audio and really enjoyed them! I Just put the one you mentioned on hold. Trying to do Normal People on audio but I'm just not feeling it. Finished Weyward paperback last week and really enjoyed it, and reading paperback of The House Across the Lake (Riley Sager). After that I picked up Leather and Lark at Walmart and Someone Else's Shoes - it's been a while since I ready anything Jojo Moyes.

This was almost like a chick lit with a little mystery. I loved those other two though. I also didn’t care for Normal People too much. Someone Else’s Shoes was fun.

I read The Whisper Network by Chandler Baker and thought it did a great job of capturing some of the bullshit of being a woman in a male dominated workplace. There were parts that were a bit much but I enjoyed the story and the message so I gave it 5 stars.

I finished The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle this weekend and LOVED it. It's like Quantum Leap meets Groundhog Day meets Gosford Park. Also finished Pretty Girls on audio by Karen Slaughter. The mystery here is good, but my gosh the descriptions of violence, especially against women, are worse than some true crime docs. Boatload of trigger warnings.
Started Funny Story yesterday, with Yours Truly up next; after a bunch of mysteries these will be a welcome genre change lol.

I finished the entire ACOTAR series so I can continue on with my life now. Overall, I really liked the series. There were a lot of things left open so I wish there were more coming out. She seems to have moved on to so who knows. Here are my random thoughts on it:
1. I liked Feyre in the first but she got to be very whiny. 2. Nesta was such a bitch. I ended up liking her and I love Cassian but damn. 3. I wanted more from the ending of the last book. I thought the final scenes were very anti-climatic. 4. I like spicy but geez these people never stop. Oh we almost died in a terrible battle, all I want to do is give you a blowjob. When authors do this stuff, it just makes me feel like they are conflating love and hot sex and idk, it annoys me. We could've saved a lot of writing.
I plan on reading her other series but I need to read some others first. I can't get sucked into another universe that takes over my life right now.

I really enjoyed Silver Flames but I agree the ending was super rushed. And the spice was almost over the top, but I've read worse since lol (not by SJM). When you're ready, I highly recommend Throne of Glass as the next SJM series - it takes a few books to settle in but the emotional payoff is so worth it. I really loved the first Crescent City book, but I feel like books 2 and 3, while still good, just didn't measure up.

Pizzaslut The ACOTAR series isn’t over. You will need to read CC first before the next book comes out though or else it likely would be confusing. I agree with cakewench that you should do TOG though. It is my favorite of the 3 series.

I found an "insight version" of Pride and Prejudice on my kindle I got for free years ago. It has footnotes with cultural background and an occasional shout out about Colin Firth LOL. I was really getting into the book on my 100th attempt to read it...then politics and homeschool planning (what a year to teach elementary civics!!!) started overtaking my reading time last week.
Long story short, P&P will probably be the only book I read this month, but I will fully lurk and learn if there is an Austen August thread!

I finished the last TOG book last night and read the first couple of chapters of CC3. Last SJM book, then I'll have read all 16 of her books over the last two months.

I am well into Heir of Fire. I've gotta get my hands on the last 4 TOG books because I want to tandem read the 2 after the next one. I was trying to wait for my airmiles to hit enough points for a kobo gift card to just buy the series haha.
Then I will go back to ACOTAR. I only read the first 2 so I have some catching up to do there before I pick up Crescent City. I am really only an occasional fantasy reader so I definitely take breaks between. And I still have Fourth Wing waiting for me too haha.
I finished a bunch of Jo Nesbo books too, and am currently reading #13, The Killing Moon. Then I will be done with the series until more are published.

I haven't figured this out either lol. I have been pretty lucky with library holds coming up in an ok order so far, along with some audible credits The digital holds are crazy but the in person ones aren't too bad on SJM books.

I paused P&P about 15% in I think because even listening to it, I was bored. Am I kicked out? 😂 I am trying to read/listen to classics, but I couldn’t get into it. Maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood. The narration was good.
