I watched the first episode last night. I love the person who won star baker. And yes, Sandro is beautiful.

I am so happy to have my therapy show back lol. It’s just so soothing to watch in the evening. philo my initial thoughts were Syabira, Dawn and Sandro. But I can also see Janusz for sure. Also I have to admit I love Noel and Matt together. I know some people don’t like Matt but I really do. 🤷🏼♀️

I actually listen to the show at dental appts as it helps with dental anxiety. Only other show to do that the Joy of Painting.

I didn’t realize it was added until this morning, so H & I watched this morning in bed with breakfast. I like the lady with the pink hair, and the guy that won star baker. I also thought that Syabira was in the running for Star Baker & liked her.
I miss Mary, Mel & Sue. Their seasons are my comfort. Like rainy day, curled up with a blanket, with soup on the stove. I like Noel & Matt way more than Sandi, though.

Yeah honestly I prefer Matt and Noel to Mel and Sue, but they don’t add or detract much either way tbh. I think the best way to win is to be an all rounder, middle most of the weeks has a couple stand outs, might be great at decorating or flavour. But like someone who has a speciality in bread, sure they might get star baker on bread week but then might be terrible on biscuit week and get sent home. I don’t remember the name but the woman who didn’t get two of their jokes upon the first delivery cracked me up. They remind me of the humor of two guys I used to work with and they always had me in tears every lunch hour from laughing.

I was seriously unimpressed with the technical challenge. They all looked terrible except for the one that won.

But more importantly, is anyone watching Extra Slice? It's the after show where they talk about (and poke fun at) the details from the week. It's so specifically british and silly, and I love it.

Which surprised me since red velvet cake isn’t some obscure dessert from the 1500s in Romania which is the stuff they love to do to them later lol.

I'm torn because on one hand, the few times I've made cream cheese icing for decorating a cake have all ended in cursing, so I'm willing to extend a little grace (give me buttercream any day) But on the other, YES. I remember the Swedish princess cake challenge (for example) and they looked better than the red velvets.

Although the baker that won, didn't she say she made it recently at home and she was going to follow that method? Maybe the recipe they gave them was crap. Idk. Still unimpressed!

The recipes crack me up and I always tell my husband I'd give up immediately when it is just like "Make the dough" "bake the cake". But I also don't spend all my free time baking, nor do I spend really any of my time baking, so there's that. lol.

The recipe they were given for the frosting said "make cream cheese frosting" I also didn't know there was a standard decoration for red velvet.

Thanks for starting this thread! This show can do no wrong, IMO. I love all the judges, hosts, and contestants the show has ever had. The show gives me hope for humanity. 😀😭
I agree—Syabira and Janusz seem like front runners. Looking forward to the rest of the season!

I'm so glad this has returned! I just love the judges and the challenges, and so far, I'm a fan of too many bakers to pick a favorite! Did Will not practice buttercream recipes at home? His split every time he tried making them! The showstopper challenge - Reb really redeemed herself - and with coconut rum rain! Fun.

I think I love the show so much because the actual prize is just the recognition and a modest trophy platter thing. I know it gives them resume building for pursuing baking of course but the fact that no money is exchanged just makes it so different than all of American reality tv which is what I love. I also love that they (in non pandemic seasons) just go home every week and come back on the weekends for this. It feels so wholesome and different than what we watch otherwise, ha.

As others have said, this show is my happy place. I like all of the judges and hosts in their own way. I put on Junior Bake Off the other day and didn't love it as much, but I will probably watch with DD1

His armpit sweat was really bugging me though. They need to make sure he’s in darker clothes for next week LOL

I loved the terrible terrible Star Wars intro so much. I love how the judges do not take themselves too seriously.

I love Mel and Sue and Noel the best. Mel and Sue's banter is so natural because they've been friends for like 40 years at this point. The others are so scripted it takes away from the enjoyment. I mean, I still watch and love the show, but I could do without their banter/skits. Noel is so natural when he's just conversing with the "cast", but Matt's always so stiff.

I loved Noels compliment to I think....the Scottish guy or Janusz? "You're bonkers in the best possible way".

I finally caught up on last week's episode. I was surprised they gave Rebs another chance. I guess her technical was enough to save her. I feel like she's on thin ice though unless she really starts improving.
