They need to go back to baking, not assembling or decorating or creating biscuit sculpture. Baking. They all seem very sweet, but none of them would have gotten past week 1 during the bbc seasons.

Bummed about the outcome. It was fair, but in overall baking I felt the other person is more limited in experience and variety of skills. My American was showing when the judges kept going on about fruit and peanut butter being an unusual combination. My kids eat strawberry jelly and peanut butter sandwiches for lunch most days. I know we are extra in our peanut butter love, but I didn’t realize it extended to thinking peanut butter and fruit was a wild combo. I swear I’m not sadistic, but I was delighted when Prue’s technical challenge was revealed. These bakers needed a more exciting challenge than tacos or s’mores. And they did quite well! (though watching Sandro was rough, he got there 😬). Happy with star baker, I think that was well-earned.

It feels like they’re always just trying to have them make something new the viewers haven’t seen on the show, which prob means it’s something the bakers themselves haven’t heard of or baked before either. So you’re not exactly showing off their talents when they’re just having to learn something new for a competition. Id like if next season they start getting back to basics even if it’s something they’ve done in a previous season, I literally would not remember or care. Yea, I've actually been re-watching the previous seasons that are available on Netflix and you can see the challenges getting progressively weirder and ridiculous. I get that baking is really basic science knowledge so if they are truly good bakers they should be able to work out most of the challenges, so I can see why they are incorporating some of that stuff in. I'll just be happy if they never ever do that swedish sandwich cake thing again, so gross.

DH and I were talking about this last night. None of these bakers would be in a finale normally. And, they all have something wrong with every single bake. That should not be happening at this point.

armpants, Wtfshouldmynamebe, I'm also really enjoying the Big Brunch, the judges are critical but not cruel. I'm really digging some of the cooks and their creativity. I and disappointed by bland dishes, it's not hard to use some salt! As for Bake-Off, I was sorry to see the baker go home this week after having started so strongly. As much as I enjoy Sandro, I am surprised he continues to remain in the tent.

What are everyone's predictions for Friday?
At this point I'll be mad if it's anyone besides Syabira.

I watched all three episodes of The Big Brunch yesterday. I LOVE it; it really does have some of the same feel as Bake Off.
My predication for Friday is Syabira. She has been by far the most consistent of the group remaining. I enjoy looking at Sandro and he seems fun. But I don't think he has the across the board skills. Abdul is a late riser though so I think he has momentum on his side.

I agree that this is Syabira's to lose at this point.
I watched the first episode of the Big Brunch. I like it but are they really going to do brunch for every episode? Seems limiting. But maybe they are just going to accept basically anything as brunch food since even in the first episode there were things that wouldn't be traditional brunch food.

Even cocktails (maybe a spoiler!)

I hate breakfast foods, so they are actually cooking things I would eat.

I have watched the final and I am happy with the result. I always enjoy the final because of the extra snippets we see - the bakers' families, and then the "what they have been up to" at the end.

Lormor , I agree, I really love the "after the finale" bits with what the bakers are up to. ETA: I was hoping Abdul's family would show up in surprise! This season was not my favorite, I think a lot of sloppy work was presented (she says, from the comfort of her couch) and this finale, I was surprised by how underwhelmed I was. I was happy with the result, and I think they all worked really hard, but it seems like not enough time is provided for them to excel at their projects - most obvious to me this week in the Showstopper! Or they are asked to do something in the technical that they have no frame of reference for which is challenging enough - then not having sufficient time seems too much to overcome. I can't recall another time Prue has uttered "proper disaster" during the Showstopper judging and it made me wince! I continue to appreciate how happy the bakers are for one another, it really cheers me up.

Yeah, they were all a hot mess. I really wasn’t sure who they were going to pick.

Darn it! FB ruined the winner for me before I could watch it. Why would bake off post who the winner was the morning of the finale?!
I’m pleased and not surprised though.

ldubhawksfan, a few weeks ago, I was reading an online article that ruined Janusz going home for me before I'd seen the episode! I hate when that happens.

The winner was ruined for me yesterday due to an article posted about Noel missing for part of it.

I just. I am happy with the winner.
But like, they could have given it away during the first episode. This season was not my favorite either. Blah.
I'm going to watch the holiday episodes and hope they make me feel better.

I won’t be too sad to see him go, I never really liked him anyway. I hope they find someone who works well with Noel!

I am in the minority by myself I guess where I liked Matt a lot and his humor. I'm happy Noel is still there though because I really love him too.

I liked Matt, but not necessarily in this role. He and Noel couldn't stop doing bits and they weren't great. Maybe they'll accrual get a POC. That would be a good step.
