A NYC pediatrician I follow on IG said her office had ordered but not received their doses yet. I think they prioritized the big delivery systems - counties and cvs/Walgreens. I know Santa Clara county which is the largest in the Bay Area put out in the news that they had enough doses ready for one third of the eligible citizens in their county on hand already. My work hasn’t really said anything but in an email Friday said they’ve been preparing and expect details soon. So I think there may be some quick announcements once the news hits.

Interesting. Leana Wen is on Post Reports and she says a lot of kids' doses have already been distributed.

So, our public elementary school sent out an email last week saying they’re doing all kids doses in school (with parental sign off obviously) Nov 9, with a mobile clinic to drive to the middle school to do the 11 year olds there. Is this just a small town thing? It’s the state health department coming in. They seem pretty confident about that date, but obviously I’m trying not to jinx it by getting too happy.
None of our local pediatricians said they be able to do it for logistical reasons.
We never had a full time site here for adult vaccinations until they became available everywhere in the summer and our cvs finally got them. Most people drove to a mass site an hour away or did a mobile one in town when they came like once a month.

Interesting. Leana Wen is on Post Reports and she says a lot of kids' doses have already been distributed. I'm covid cop at a school and during contact tracing, a parent told me her pediatrican's office in Va said they have the doses and everything ready to go (which made the exposure and subsequent quarantine I was requiring that much more painful).

Wahh! How many days is “several days”? ETA nevermind, read the full article "We urge parents to get ready and make a plan, and the program will be fully up and running the week of November 8th," Zients said. Our county is allowing people to make appointments for the 4th and beyond. I have an appointment the 5th, but I'm pretty unsure about the location. We're still isolating and the bubbles and scavenger hunts this site is advertising make me nervous so I'm hoping to get a report from a friend who has an appointment on the 4th before deciding whether to go. I really want a drive thru site but the ones I know of aren't making kid appointments yet.

Maybe COVID related - just back from a Whole Foods run. Our hours had been 7:00 am to 10:00 pm daily for quite a while, shortened due to COVID.
Saw a notice today that starting November 1 new hours at 8:00 am to 9:00 pm daily. Not that there are any food related holidays coming up or anything. And this is a pretty busy WF from what I understand.
And they were also my 'where to find distilled water' store when Walgreens/Target/CVS were out. Well, not today! They also restricted numbers of certain canned items (veggies mostly). Guessing supply chain issues.
They did have Christmas cards though! LOL!

Our pediatrician sent out a message that they had ordered their initial supply a few days ago. They’ve been vaccinating the 12-18 crowd, so they are already set up with the equipment.

I assume our pediatrician has already ordered since they added COVID VACCINE 5-11 as a schedule option like two weeks ago. Still no appointment slots though.

We have been to our pediatrician 3x this week and I've gathered that they have ordered their doses, but a lot of peds aren't even doing it bc it a major PITA and it is a lot of time and effort to staff and coordinate everything. They have sent out a waitlist Google form, and will be setting up clinics, but nothing firm yet. They said this roll out seems more promising than the 12-15 age group in that they were able to even pre-order doses.

I tried CVS on a whim, but when I put in DD1's birthday, the auto populated list of vaccine choices based on her age did not include covid yet.

Same. I'm getting my booster on Friday this week and I was hoping the timing would pan out that I could schedule her then too.

I'm up for my booster on the 12th. So I'm sure I could probably do all of us then. I just want to get them in as soon as possible.

I've seen people ask about Moderna for kids. An update:

My first thought is too many people will forget children are not just mini-teens or tiny adults and spin this into doubting Moderna (or any COVID vaccine's) safety for any demographic, not remembering that a med that works great for one population isn't always good for another.
Rather than thinking hmm, maybe the FDA is actually moving forward with its examinations carefully and not just stamping approval on everything that comes its way.
