The guidelines don't have specifics on being in an indoor setting with fully vaccinated people only - is that because they have already announced that it is ok to do that without masks?

And this happened. I’m home and still alive. It was instant arm pain though- yeesh. V-safe was like are you sure about this? ] Yay! I hope you get minimal side effects this time. ❤️

I was just at my park district sports facility. Wanted to check their COVID protocols in person, since a lot of places have talked a good game on their web site but not so much in reality. Anyway, all looked good and I'm feeling pretty confident since I'm fully vaccinated. I won't do group classes for now, but the track and weight room looked ok. And everyone was masked and so many employees wiping down everything constantly! Only down side, if that, is that the showers and water filling stations are turned off, but that's do-able.
But...CDC guidance was breaking and on all the TV monitors and everyone was glued to the announcement. It's 80 here today and I think the idea of just taking a walk in the park outside the facility sans masks just cheered everyone immensely.

This is an interesting thread on what’s been happening in India. Important to remember this likely would have been the US if T was still POTUS. I’m sure we would have had the same “covid is over” messaging throughout Feb and Mar. Most of my work team is in India and it is just heartbreaking. I only know of 1 person there who is vaccinated and I work with....lots and lots of people. Just like us from a year ago- their federal government is even now leaving it up to the states to impose restrictions. I don't think they are anywhere close to the top of the curve just because of the population density. I'm so scared for them.

Every time I listen to someone explain when you need a mask outside and when you don’t, I realize it doesn’t really apply to me. City living.

Yeah, I am not planning to do anything different than what I'm already doing.

Oh, I am so planning on walking through the forest preserves without masking whenever I see another person walking toward me on the path - unless we stop to have a long face to face chat. And walking happily through the parking lot from the store without a mask. And even wandering my suburban downtown area with a mask in my pocket, in case I decide to go into a shop.
But, yes, suburban in a county that was very anxious to get vaccinated. My risk level, and confidence, is no doubt a YMMV situation.

greykitty I snorted at the part about walking through a store parking lot unmasked. Since this whole thing started, very rarely do I see others wear their masks in parking lots. Put them on/take them off at the door. Winter was about the only exception to that. ETA: I put my mask on in the car and it stays there until I get back to it. I plan on continuing to do that for awhile at least. I realize I'm being extra about it.

Someone else said it a while ago, but I am eagerly anticipating the day I get to laugh when the CDC says stuff like “eat only well done meat” and “don’t drink alcohol if you’re not on birth control” and otherwise pick and choose what CDC guidance makes sense for the practicalities of my life.
But yeah, for me, I trusted them when they told me to start wearing a mask, I’ll trust them when they say there’s scenarios now where I don’t have to mask.

I can’t wait to feel the sun on the lower half of my face while I neurotically pace alone on a sidewalk with a shrieking infant. That's really the dream right there.

Yeah, I am not planning to do anything different than what I'm already doing. The only thing I will do different is not wear a mask while I walk to work until I get to the busy street, and maybe not wear a mask when I walk to dog. I will still have one in my pocket so I can put it on if I need to.

As far as I know my state still requires masks, even outdoors, for everyone. I'm fully vaxxed as of last week, but part of me likes the comfort of solidarity in a mask. It's always been such a low rate of following any part of the guidance here that it makes me feel safer just seeing other people wearing them and knowing they exist. I don't want that to go away, damn it. I can't wait to not have to wear them but I also trust no one. Anxiety party of one over here.

101 temp, uncontrollable whole body shakes and chills, teeth chattering. I knew it was going to be bad, but just regular side effects at least :/

How do trails fit into the outdoor mask guidance? I am curious how National and state parks handle the masks. We always lifted them if passing but it seems like that is not necessary if vaccinated?

I would be interested to see these numbers. Ohhhhh. I would be very interested. I think it would be fair to do this by the end of May. When everyone has had a chance for at least 4-6 weeks.

Masks are on and off at the car. I suspect that will change though, especially with the weather starting to warm up.
