CBC just predicted a liberal government! I'm down with a Liberal minority as the second-best option here, but omfg if Trudeau gets a majority again... ugh. I think it's unlikely at this point, though. Hopefully. But still a chance. I think it will be liberal minority, but close enough that NDP could support in votes if needed.

I’m really disappointed the NDP are down. I thought Singh ran an excellent campaign overall. This is Quebec’s fault isn’t it? (This is TIC)

Wish they'd just form a coalition anyway so we could have four years of stability instead of another election in two years, plus get some NDP MPs the much-needed chance to "prove themselves" in cabinet.

There’s people who would vote NDP but they realistically have no chance of winning so they vote Liberal so the Conservatives won’t get the vote.

Someone please explain the lead vs elected seats? What’s the difference, I can’t remember I think elected is confirmed seats, the lead is more as they’re counting, it looks like it’ll go this way. So not confirmed but likely.

Just nodding along. That would be great actually and Trudeau could start working on his group work skills.

I’m finally breathing again.
A liberal/bloc coalition. Always interesting and makes me feel like a young 14 year old in 1995.

Laughing because this is similar feedback to what my kids get in elementary school. “Joey is doing great at reading but could use some improvement in getting along with his friends”

I think it’s hard for the NDP because the Liberal party has done a good job of stealing ideas and voters so their is a lot of overlap and the Green Party ideology is also falling into the same area as the other parties.

I voted NDP today - I was really unsure because I actually liked the Liberal candidate better and mine will be a conservative seat guaranteed - but SO said that the party gets money or support or something based on actual votes they get so I voted for the NDP to show my support for them.
I have no idea if that’s actually true and I’m for sure not explaining it as well as he told me but I felt like I did something.

Also I found out yesterday we have a candidate for the Marxist-Leninism party and I didn’t even know that party existed.

Or could just be both the fed ndp and fed libs share similar ideologies? And prolly should have sat down and talked merger between the post Layton NDP and the revolving door liberal leader

I voted NDP too but my riding is currently sitting at 76% for the PC guy. Who used to be a member of Wild Rose and that tells me all I need to know about him.

Ok from what I remember a party had to receive a certain percent of the popular vote to receive a subsidy. 2 or 5 percent but I think it’s changed for some reason.

I voted strategically in my rural conservative riding, vote for the progressive with the best chance. Frustrating too.... because our lib and NDP have together a slight lead on the cons.

I was a campaign manager for a Layton Candidate so I met him a couple times. And then I was at a conference a few years ago, and Olivia Chow walks over to our table and asks if she can sit with us. So she was my table mate for an entire conference, gave me her card and told me to call her anytime for advice. I haven’t though, I wanted to but it felt so weird, but man is that lady ever gracious.

My riding is a solid Liberal seat in the NCR and there was never any chance of an NDP candidate getting in. It's why they run someone who is unknown. They ran the same candidate in this election as they ran in the provincial election. So voting sucked, just like it always does in this area, because I really feel like I have to vote strategically.

SO is from Ontario and was lamenting tonight that it’s so different to vote in a riding that typically makes so little difference as opposed to his riding where he grew up where votes came down to 100s of votes of difference.
I was like, yes, welcome to being a) an Albertan where it feels like there have been times the elections been called and our polls are still open and b) a non Conservative in Alberta.

This is also the experience of living anywhere in southern Ontario that is even remotely rural. Anywhere outside of Toronto/Ottawa is basically guaranteed Conservative.

My hometown, they don't even know who's running. Seriously. Many people have signs with THE WRONG CANDIDATE'S NAME on their lawn and can't name the Conservative candidate. But he's taking 50% of the vote because the person doesn't matter. Rural southern Ontario is so fucking objectionable.

Cackling, absolutely cackling, that Bernier lost his seat.
Thank god we don't have to listen to him in the leaders' debates next time around.
Now if we could just stop including the Bloc...
