I didnt watch because I was out but I just... don’t understand why the Bloc and Bernier were there. Aren’t they only running in Quebec? So there’s literally no chance of being PM?

I'm sorry, is your Conservative party candidate's campaign slogan really, actually, "It's time for you to get ahead?"
What D list political strategist greenlit that?!

I was impressed with Singh and May. The rest just make my head hurt to be honest.

I couldn't watch last night, also don't have regular TV so i need to find somewhere today to watch online. I'm hoping watching Singh live will change my mind on him because I really do align with the NDP over any other party

long wow to the conservative answer to the opening question. How about answer the question instead of telling me what Trudeau did wrong

I was only able to catch the tail end of it last night, but seriously was impressed with Singh, Scheer needs to shut the fuck up.. I had canvassers for the local Liberal candidate knock last night, and I told them I wasn't voting lib or PC, they asked NDP, and I said yes, and they were happy & thanked me...

Finished the debate and my overall thoughts: Jagmeet Singh was the winner for me and totally changed my mind on him as a leader. Elizabeth May was good Andrew Sheer can get fucked. He spent 2 hours telling me why Trudeau sucks and not why he should win. Bernier is a rubbish human being and can get fucked along with Sheer IDK why the Bloc QC guy was there

I completely agree with your assessment of the debate emma,. I align heavily with NDP and have really enjoyed listening to Jagmeet Singh speak. I think he held his own really well.

My main complaint with Singh's performance in the debate was that I think most people will only remember his zingers and not any of the substance of what he said. It felt like too much energy was devoted to sound bites. I am already tired of hearing "Mr. Delay and Mr. Deny".
I hate this entire election and want a redo.

I’ve also only heard about his zingers on the radio, however I like how he handled himself and didn’t resort to shouting over someone else like the rest did

While having been involved politics my whole life....I took a hiatus about ten years ago cause politics can suck it.
I will be voting liberal because locally the liberal is the only progressive with a chance of winning. But I despise Trudeau and he's why I don't work for the party anymore.
I would love to see Jagmeet as our leader....I think there could very well be a ground swell for him.

Just thinking in type... my district is liberal and just went that way from conservative in the last election. Historically the area only goes liberal or conservative with NDP trailing third. I don’t prefer our NDP candidate and was considering a vote for green, but that seems like a waste when they are usually in the single digits here. So, I think I’m voting liberal. Is there something I’m missing?

Real talk: I am annoyed that the Bloc has taken so much support away from the Liberals, even if I'm pissed about a lot of what the Liberals have done over the last entirety-of-their-existence, because now the Conservatives have a decent shot at a minority government. Fuck right off with that.
But I'm also wondering if polls are going to sway a lot of NDP supporters to knee-jerk vote for the Liberals instead. There seemed to be a lot more "screw strategic voting, I'm voting my ethics and conscience this time, the Liberals will get in anyway" opinions this year, but I think that may suddenly disappear in the face of real potential for the Cons getting in.

Also, there is exactly 0% of me that is okay living in a country where we intentionally cut foreign aid by tens of millions of dollars to put "more money back in our pockets". Noooooo.

I'm with you misskilljoy. I'm seeing a lot of "the 2 party system will ONLY change if you actually vote NDP", which yeah technically true, but now is not the time to risk splitting the Liberal vote.

Like I know so many people who don't even have an NDP candidate in their area.
Eta I'm seeing this may have changed now. But even quite recently many people I know had been complaining that they were trying to figure out who was running under NDP in their area but could not find any info.

We need electoral reform right freaking now. Our system is so stupid.

Political nerd time: I'm also interested in a revival of what happened in the '20s, when the ruling party was NOT the party that gained the most seats - the Liberals only took 101 seats to the Conservatives' 116 in 1925, but because they were in power at the time of the election, they got first crack at forming government. They gained the confidence of the House and held onto power despite not winning the most seats.
I can't believe I'm pinning my hopes on something that last happened almost 100 years ago, but here we are. Essentially, I'm way less scared of a Liberal + Bloc minority than a Conservative + Bloc minority, and I think that's honestly what we're looking at here - one of those two. I am not sure I see the NDP picking up enough support to hold the balance of power.
I live deep in the outskirts of my city, on the edge of hardcore "Everything New and Progressive is Scary and Youths These Days are the Root of All Evil" land, so the ABC vote is big here.

My first time voting as a Canadian citizen!

Happy Election Day friends! Please set a good example for Western democracy today friends! ;-) There’s been a meme going around SM with Greta Thurnberg’s face, saying “This is what foreign interference in an election looks like” because she came here last week. I’m sure she planned her whole world tour to coincide with Canada’s election. 🙄
