His day is 1:08-3:45 First day is August 26th and last day is May 28th. But I'm sure that will be later with snow days added in. So basically he is in school for 2.5 hours? I do not get this at all. What all can they learn in 2.5 hours? Is the AM class the same amount of time? I’m sorry you got the exactly what you didn’t want. That drop off/pick up schedule would drive me crazy. I have no idea. I taught fullday k for a year and could barely get through the curriculum and science/social studies was a complete after thought. Especially since so much is expected coming out of k now.

Does anyone know what the measurement equivalent of a small pottery barn backpack is? Or simply what size should I get C?

H used the small for preschool, and it was fine but the top corners of her folder and paperwork would get bent. I actually got H a new backpack from LL bean this year.

I ordered the greeb/blue ll bean one the other day. Mh decided he needed a bigger one. J picked out the orange it some ugly pattern, but I talked him into the green, even though I don't love the two-tone color. For price reference it's $35 with sales including embroidery and will last longer than a themed bag, at least I hope!

I am using Josie’s small one from Pottery Barn Kids to start the year because it’s in pristine condition from pre-K. I will upgrade to the large if I find it necessary in the first few months of school. I am annoyed that I purchased the matching lunchbox and then back on Amazon prime day bought a bentgo box and it doesn’t fit inside by like less than an inch. I know most of you already are part of the lunch packing game, but lalalunchbox on Instagram is terrific and just did a big review of all of the interior bento boxes, plus lots of different lunch bag choices, and water bottles as well.

The PB bags were vetoed pretty quick when he realized they don’t have Pokémon! I ordered a Pokémon on Amazon that comes with the lunch box for $23 knowing I will have to replace it sooner. But he’s not excited at all about kindergarten so I need to get him pumped 🤷♀️

I think it's ok if he isn't excited I think he’s a bit scared since most of his friends are going to the other two schools in town. He has one close friend going to his school and I wish I knew if they would be in the same class because I know that would ease his worries a bit.

6 pages of school calendar talk, oh my.
Grade 1 for B this year, his school supplies were ordered online and delivered to the house. I have no interest in shopping for this shit with a list in hand, if he was persistent then i would absolutely muster up the excitement and do it for him, but he's happy this way. He takes his school bag the first day of school, where he will find out his class then which was the same as kinder, I'm fine that way. I know that the teachers from kinder chat with the teacher for Grade 1 to ensure that kids are placed evenly, so I'd rather they did that to ensure he's placed with appropriate peers etc. than hurry just to get a name. It does mess up my 'First Day of Grade 1' sheet for him to hold prior to going to school though. I will take the first day of school off work to take him in, get him settled, find the right door for entry, meet the teacher etc. there is an official meet the teacher sometime in Sept though, I think.
School days are September 3rd-end of June sometime(maybe June 26th) Mon-Tues-Wed-Fri 8.40am-3.13pm, with a morning recess and lunch thrown in there. Thursday- 8.40am-12.16pm

Evie's Meet the Teacher night was last night. She was super nervous, but we were the first ones there, so she got some good one on one time with her. The teacher seems really sweet. Evie put all her supplies away, saw her cubbie, etc, so I think it helped calm her nerves. We also found the bathrooms in the pod she's in, so she's comfortable with that as well. Tomorrow is the day!

We finally got the letter today with the teacher info and school supply list. The school supplies are being provided and the only thing he needs to bring aside from lunch, is a yoga mat. He doesn’t even need a backpack really since they only send a folder home once a week and our district doesn’t do homework until middle school. Our homework is reading together for at least 20mins a night. This is all so different than my school experience.
Also hi-I’ll check in soon. I’ve been on a work trip all week and coming back tomorrow.

If it isn’t true, then I hope they change their minds about it in the coming years.

We got our teacher assignment last night and I'm disappointed none of the other kids from daycare are in her class. I know they do a lot of group work with other classes and they'll see eachother on the playground and in after school care. But I figured with 9 kids from daycare going and only 6 kindergarten classes, she'd have someone she knew in her class. 5 kids are in the same class together. Come on.

I will say that I had a group of kids from the same daycare in my k class, and they were a bit of a cliche and we're super hard to handle bc they were so comfortable together. Hopefully she will make some great new friends and can see her other buddies on the playground. We are starting barely knowing only a few kids, so j will be on the outside of any preschool friendships from our zone. Hoping he finds some nice friends though 🤞

I found out who H’s teacher is on Wednesday, but I don’t know who any of her classmates are yet. I assume we will find that out at open house. I know a few incoming K kids in our area, but with 6 classes chances are pretty low they will be in H’s class. That’s ok though, she’s pretty good at making new friends.
