Well, C has figured out how to roll to get places, so it's all over. And I caught him getting up on his hands and knees. I'm guessing his crappy sleep is related to all this brain development going on.

I'm guessing his crappy sleep is related to all this brain development going on. I'm glad you said this. I've also heard developmental milestones can mess with sleep. DS2 had STTN 5/7 nights a week ago then has had crap sleep the past week. He finally STTN again last night and I'm really hoping it wasn't a fluke. This morning he managed a small lunge forward after pushing up on hands and knees so maybe he's learning to crawl and that's why his sleep hasn't been great.

Oh man, talking about sleeping through the night is making me so jealous! However DD is content to stay in one spot and hasn't even tried to get on her hands and knees so I'll take the staying in one spot for as long as possible! Dd1 was crawling by this age but I'm so glad dd2 is content to not move 😊

We made it to Arizona and back with all our luggage, no sun burns, and no huge melt downs! I'd say that's a MAJOR win!

Dramaphile, Nymeria I've been talking about that recently too! How being on the verge of learning a new skill makes for crappy sleep.

I feel like I need to catch up in here a bit. DD has been difficult for naps and does not like to be put down for more than a couple of minutes at a time all day. She just cries and yells. Seriously, there is so much crying around here lately 😩 It's making me pretty frustrated. It's been hard to get anything done because I'm always carting her around.
Today she started to shimmy forward on her belly OH-so-slightly! Seriously, the tiniest bit! It was pretty funny, she looked like she was fake swimming with her legs just kicking around like crazy! Also this evening she (while crying) let out what I believe to be her first consonant sounds - a couple da, ga and ya sounds.
I've been thinking lately (as mentioned above) about how new skills can effect sleep and thinking that it probably also could have something to do with all her dang crying and clinginess during the day. I feel like she needs to master something, but I'm not sure how she's ever going to master anything of I'm holding her most of the day 😕

I haven't been drinking enough water the past three days I think and I'm feeling it supply-wise. I HAVE to get back to making water a priority.
I'm trying to make a darn meal plan for the rest of the week and I get so frustrated with it. I'm tired of figuring out what the heck to feed everyone for three meals a day! We always end up eating all the same things and I'm sick of all of it.

Also, bringing the previous sleep convo over here - Nymeria I'm sorry you're struggling with naps too, but it does feel just a little bit better knowing that I'm not the only one. brenna I'm sorry your nights are bad. I feel like ours still aren't great either. I also still sometimes end up with DD in bed with me in the early am. I've been starting to let her CIO motn if she wakes up after less than 3 hours since the previous wake-up/nursing session. She's definitely just been comfort nursing at some of her wake ups and not really "eating". So I really don't think she needs to be nursing every two dang hours at night! What does everyone's night wake-ups look like currently? Many nights I'm still getting 3 wake ups or more. I consider only two to be a "good" night for her at this point. I'm so ready for her to drop to one..... I can't remember when that happened with DS.

We eat the same basic things all the time but I'm not going to spend a ton of time trying to cook new meals so we stick with the same things.

We let her cry for awhile at 3 and then I told DH he needed to go in to try to settle her down because if I go in she doesn't settle until I feed her. After DH went in she slept the rest of the night! So I think that's going to be our game plan for awhile to try to get to just one wake up a night.

This past week, wakeups have been rough, maybe every 2 hours? He gets a decent stretch from about 8-12 and then is up 2-3 times after that. sometimes he is up with me at 6:30 and sometimes he sleeps later, morning is a crapshoot. 2 wakeups a night would be glorious. He's always been a pretty good napper, usually he'll take 1 or 2 shorter morning naps and an solid 2 hour afternoon nap. he goes down to bed around 8 for the night. Usually he just nurses and goes back to sleep at night, but he's been more restless when he wakes recently, possibly from gas/poop, and takes longer to fall back asleep or just wants a cuddle and not to nurse.

I'm open to trying new things, but they have to only take 30 mins and they can't have a whole laundry list of crazy ingredients! And they have to be vegetarian. I've made a few things from Forks Over Knives that have been pretty good and haven't taken too long (if you're not familiar with Forks Over Knives maybe give the recipe site a look if you ever want inspiration. It's all vegan, so dairy free, and I'm sure they have a lot of gluten free choices too).

Dramaphile we went through a phase with Leap 5 of the same thing. An ok first stretch until around 11-12, then every two hours after that. It sucks. I hope it passes for you soon.

tbirdlove looks like he's right on the cusp of Leap 5 on the calendar thing, so I guess he's precocious...

Don't be jealous - he definitely did not STTN last night. Only made it to 11:30 before waking up.
I may not be around much this week. It's our busy week at work and so far has been way worse than normal. DS2 is passed out in my arms after nursing but I really need to go put him down so I can keep working a bit more.

I've mentioned before that DD has some beautifully chunky little legs. We measured her thighs for fun tonight to compared them with DS's. My 6 month old's thighs are nearly .25 inch BIGGER around than my soon-to-be 3 year old 😂
I'm gonna miss her sweet chunk-a-lunks when she gets mobile and slims down a bit.

I think dd2's thighs might be bigger than dd1 as well. I'll have to measure and report back. Dd1 has always been thin and never really had too many rolls but dd2 has all the rolls.

I thought for sure C would be my chunky baby since he was big when he was born, but apparently I just make little peanuts.

Nymeria I thought of you yesterday! We started re-watching the last season of GoT to prepare for the upcoming new season and it was the episode where Nymeria comes to Arya in the woods 😊

Still staying busy here, mostly to avoid reality. DS began sitting up so well by himself yesterday. Not sure if it was a fluke or what but we were at the gardens and he was so fixated on a toy that he was sitting straight up unassisted for a while. 😪 Time is going by so fast. He will be six months at the end of the month so we will begin trying some foods then. I also hope that will improve his reflux issues to allow us to ween medication.
Those that celebrate Easter, what kind of things do you do or traditions?

pixiepink24 - We'll do lunch with MH's family then head to my family for dessert. My mom really wants to start an egg hunt for her grandkids and "adopted" grandkids (my BFF's kids and her sister's kids) but it doesn't look like that will start this year. Otherwise just the meals and family time, no specific traditions.

Otherwise just the meals and family time, no specific traditions. Actually my MIL has a tradition - she colors a bunch of eggs - half hard boiled, half raw. You and another family member pick an egg and hit them against each other. You lose if your egg breaks and the winner takes their egg against a new person. I would be happy to not participate but it's a tradition for her and she loves it. We did use it to tell MH's family about DS2 last year though so that was fun. I ordered an egg on etsy and had a note put in it about DS2 being due in September. We had MH's grandmother use that egg when it was her turn so when it broke open she could read the note to everyone. So that was fun, but otherwise I wouldn't mind skipping the egg thing.

I bought egg dye this year so we'll let dd1 dye some eggs and our neighborhood has an Easter egg hunt the day before Easter so we'll probably take her to that too. We usually just do a family dinner that night, but we are not religious so we don't do anything too big, just use it as an excuse to get together with family. I don't think dd1 knows about the Easter Bunny so I probably won't do an Easter basket.

Not really any special traditions here for Easter. Last year we took DS to an egg hunt for the first time, so we'll probably make something like that our own little tradition while the kids are little. Not sure if DS is old enough to bother with the hassle of coloring Easter eggs, but maybe we'll consider doing that this year. Otherwise no real plans as of yet.
