Well our Christmas plans were cancelled because my sister decided to tell me a few hours before I was supposed to be there at my moms that she thinks she has bronchitis and doing a breathing treatment. But then told me she had chills, exhaustion, runny nose and other cold symptoms just two days ago. Doesn't sound like a healthy place to take my 8 week old baby and 3 year old. Guess I need to order Chinese....

We ended up just eating random stuff and turkey burgers. Lol! But the afternoon was beautiful so we played outside and went for a walk in the neighborhood.
Today DS is two months old!!! We may try to go to the zoo to get our December stamp before the month is over. Looks like rain for the next week...

tbirdlove - I'm sorry for the rough nights. I know it's hard not to, but try not to feel guilty. If the sleep and dinosaur thing are actually connected there's no way you could have known it may bother him. I hope things get better soon. pixiepink24 - Bummer you lost your Christmas plans, but those sound like good symptoms to avoid with little kids! A bunch of FB friends have already had the flu come through their house this year.

Nymeria we had those same jammies in pink! Taking a good picture of two young kids is so hard! This was the best we got even though we took about 20 pictures...

I didn't have matching jammies, but here are my two. And also a comparison picture.

How is everyone doing after Christmas? Dd1 has skipped her nap the past two days so that has been fun and dd2 might be hitting the 4 month sleep regression because her day sleep and night sleep seems to be getting worse every day.

We are recovering! P slept from 9-7 it’s a Christmas miracle. She’s 3 months today that’s so crazy. We bought M a potty watch and now she doesn’t argue about going when the watch tells her. She’s still nervous about underwear, because she says she’ll have an accident. But right now I’m riding the wave of dry pull-ups.

DS is still having MAJOR sleep issues. It's been 11 nights now. So we're not doing well at all. We took him to the pediatrician today to talk about what's going on because we are just so lost in how to work through this.
DD, however, slept from 8:30-5:30 in her crib last night - so at least that's a win.
My house is trashed with all these gifts I need to find a place for now. In addition to everything that's piled up over the last 11 days of barely getting by on no sleep 😴😴😴

He said it could be any of the things we've considered, a mix of those things, or The Perfect Storm of all of them. His first recommendation without hearing any of our sob story was to get DS out of the crib and into a big boy bed. It might just be the change he needs. He also said to give him Benedryl for a couple of nights before bedtime so that we can all get some sleep. We tried a nap with his crib mattress on the floor in his room today. It didn't go well. He just kept playing and leaving his room - I guess he wasn't crying though, so that's good maybe. After only sleeping about 4 hours last night (yes, that's right...), he did not nap. ETA - HE is the one who only slept 4 hours that night.....

Like we told DD if she got out of bed we'd take her binky (binky was only for sleeping, which she knew, so if she was out of bed she wasn't sleeping so didn't get binky) we had to resort to switching the door handle and locking her door, taking her play kitchen out, taking books out, etc. Sometimes she still doesn't nap which is the worst but she was climbing out of her crib so we had to switch her...

@thirdlove when we switched M to a mattress on the floor we used a baby gate to keep her in her room.
I’m sorry sleep is so hard. I hope it gets better soon.

brenna akwild we'll probably try the baby gate at first. Normally he sleeps with the door shut, but that's been out the window since this mess started. I'm worried about him waking up and crying at the gate and he'll wake DD up for sure. I can only turn up her sound machine so much! I don't even care if he wants to play in there alone for an hour before laying down and falling to sleep - as long as he does it without crying!

This was basically DD so we have given up naps for the most part for her. It sucks royally because I really enjoyed family nap time and I am often very tired. Oh well. It wasn't worth the stress and anger or time wasted that was happening on my end. DS has been sleeping normally. Nothing has really changed. Still eating all the time at night.

tbirdlove - I'm sure you don't want to hear this, but just a heads up Benadryl doesn't always work to make kids tired. DS1 had hives last week and seemed to get tired after we have it to him, but when we tried it to help him sleep during a cold a month or so ago it seemed to make him pretty wired.

I'm sorry to be jumping in randomly rather than actually keeping up right now. I'm starting to have a really hard time with the fact that I go back to work next week. I want to do nothing but lay on the couch and cuddle with DS2. It just feels like I'm running out of time.

I'm sad there only seems to be 5 or 6 of us left on this board 🙁 I’m hoping I’ll be able to be active come the new year. We’ve just finally moved back into our house and DS1 will be back in school so fingers crossed I can join in more.

Yes, I've been warned of this glitch with Benedryl! My DS was prescribed it for a nasty virus around his second birthday, so I already know he didn't get crazy on it 🙂

Trying to get dd2 to take her last nap of the day is the biggest pain in my ass and dd1 has been getting into so much trouble even though I'm trying to keep her occupied and contained. Today she said she ate a coin she got out of a bank someone gave her, so now I get to dig through her poop to try to find it. She's two so she might be lying and actually didn't eat anything...

Nymeria going back to work is hard. I go back on the 7th and I’m kinda still acting like it’s not happening.

And I’m on my last nerve. M has been out of school for a week and won’t go back until Wednesday. She doesn’t do well with lack of structure. I feel like Wednesday morning I’m to drop her off with a big BYE!

Hopping back in as well.
I go back to work on the 7th and I’m just not ready to think about it. I’ve so enjoyed my time with my girls. I’m hopeful that we all will transition well to our new normal.

We went from having all those rough nights with DD and not being able to put her down, then an overlap of her and DS both waking up all night. I started putting her in her crib somewhere in there because I just couldn't take it all anymore. Now she's been sleeping quite well in her crib, but DS's antics are keeping us up all night. There have been so many night issues lately that I kinda zoomed past the whole moving baby to her own room thing. I'm a bit sad that it just kinda happened so fast.
I've been so miserably sleep deprived, and stressed and frustrated with my kids that I've been kinda mentally absent from them while I've been more focused on sorting out DS's issues. I realized today just how well DD has started grasping things and bringing them to her mouth. It made me feel like I'm missing things with her because I'm so out of it 😔
