brenna P does this but in the middle of the night. It’s super frustrating. Right now we divide and conquer bedtime. Which means I’m the last one to go to bed. Because saying goodnight to the 3 year old is WAY faster.....

brenna - I find it hardest to get DS2 to sleep if he gets to the point of being overtired. We're nit doing a set bedtime so I need to be extra careful to watch for sleep cues at night.

2 month shots must have tired him out because DS2 is currently nursing for the first time since 6:30 and he's been sleeping since about 7:30. I didn't get that straight trough because both kids have a cold now and I kept walking up to coughing but I'm seriously hoping more stretches like this are on the other side of Leap 2.

😑 This week has been challenging. My easy newborn has suddenly become a clingy, crying, hot mess infant. I expected that things would get harder when she "woke up" more, but shit. This girl has crazy mood swings. She is crying sooo much more. According to WW, she entered leap 2 last Friday. Currently, I'm partially blaming that. She's also been super gassy, poops less and less frequently, I'm pretty sure she's overtired, and is probably also in the 6-8 week peak fussiness phase. Add to that a tantruming, potty training toddler and I am so done with this phase.

Yesterday we didn't get out of the house at all and I about went crazy. Dd1 was throwing pots and pans while I was trying to get dd2 her last nap of the day, she takes her diaper off and runs around naked and pees everywhere, now she's so damn obsessed with watching curious George when I turn it off we have full blown tantrums. Last night I was asking my husband when he thought things would get easier and he said "uh probably never" yay! (Sarcasm font)

Last night I was asking my husband when he thought things would get easier and he said "uh probably never" yay! (Sarcasm font) Yes, we started having the TV tantrums this spring/summer while I was pregnant. I've just given in and he is watching TV most of the day. It's survival mode and I'll deal with weaning him off the TV later. On a positive note regarding the TV, he's picked up quite a few words and phrases from the shows he watches! Try Octonauts on Netflix, it's pretty cute and I love the little song at the end! My DS loves fish and underwater stuff so that show was a hit for a while . He'll also watch the Planet Earth documentaries - At least those are educational! Haha! 😂 It's so crazy - it's like a switch flipped in DD and she is just sooooo fussy so much more of the time. Luckily night sleep is still ok. Of course after I posted the above rant she had fallen asleep in my arms and I was able to transfer her to the crib and she slept more than 5-10 mins. I made a cup of coffee, picked up toys and got the Roomba running, so that made me feel bit better. A lot of this has GOT to be leap 2 and peak fussiness.

I’ve been trying to keep P more on a schedule. Maybe that will help night sleep? We get home from dropping M off around 8ish and P will eat and sleep until like 11 or 12. I wonder if she needs more awake time in the morning.
On a crazy note my mom is traveling to visit her family next month and I thought “hey I already have the time off I’ll go too”. So I’m going to take my 3 year old and 2 month old on a 10ish hour flight..... I can do this. M has done this trip 3 times already so hopefully she content with me and grandma. And P will still be sleepy enough?

@tbridove and brenna this peek of fussiness is a LOT. It will all get better right? Lately M comes home from school and after dinner just watches TV, mostly Daniel tiger and now Frozen. I just can’t entertain her enough anymore.

akwild sounds like an adventure in parenting!! 😄 You're awesome for going! Around this stage (6-8 weeks-ish?) an hour of awake time is usually enough to tire them back out. But you know... read the baby not the clock and all.... so much easier said than done with #2! I just rotated some toys and put a bunch away so there's overall less toys in the living room and some "new" things, so that's peaked DS's interest a little bit. And tonight I put Pandora radio on the TV and he played and ran around while listening to the music! So that was a nice change!

My parents wanted to fly with dd1 to their place in Arizona and my dad especially thought it'd be no problem. We went there back in May and after the flight home (which was during nap time and DD didn't nap and didn't want to sit still) my dad said,"umm actually we'll wait until she's a little older to fly down with her." Haha

Evenings are so crazy in our house right now. Today after picking dd1 up from daycare when we got home it was time for dd2 to take her last nap which is always the toughest one for me to get her to sleep (I also have to wear her which makes things more difficult) dd1 poops and is trying to pull her diaper off, I'm trying to put chicken on the grill, DD gets into her markers and takes all the lids off and writes on the wall, then puts stickers all over herself and the walls.
Meanwhile dd2 won't sleep because of all the chaos and I finally gave up and sat down. When DH walked through the door I just said "your turn!"
2.5 months in and I still can't figure out how to make it all work.

I don’t pick up M from daycare so I can try to cook dinner. It makes for a slightly longer (like 20 mins) day for her but brings so much peace to me. I don’t know how it’s all going to work when I have to pick up both of them after i go back to work. One day at a time I guess.

I hope she at least gives a nice, long stretch after all the struggle. she slept until 4:45 so that was awesome. I think we might be in leap 2 based off of due date so that might be why she's struggling to fall asleep. I've noticed she's been having trouble with naps the past few days too.

It sounds like a lot of us are hating leap 2 right now 😞 I woke up this morning feeling completely awful. I got a flu shot but I'm pretty sure I have the flu. DH had been amazing today and has let me just sleep in bed and has taken care of both girls. I hope I don't feel this terrible for too long. We can't catch a break in our house, it seems like at least one of us has been sick at all times since dd2 was born.

Another terrible night here. MH and I have been trying to get DD to sleep for more than ten minutes for 3 hours now. It's 3:45am and I am yet to get any sleep 😭
ETA - I didn't get any sleep until 5am when I finally brought her into bed with me. Not a peep out of her after that. I do not want to have to co-sleep. It's odd that she seemed so gassy trying to sleep in her bassinet, but then was fine laying with me. Maybe it's not even gas that's keeping her up...

I ended up holding her on our pull out bed from 4am until 8:30am. I'm too afraid to sleep with her so I maybe dozed a little but today I feel just as bad as I did yesterday 😞

I only have two days of work this week. DS is still going to daycare on Wednesday so DD and I are having a girls day. DS seems to have caught some daycare cooties already. He's got a slight cough and some congestion.
