knitty we went through a little bit of this and I just humored him and played along for a bit. Then once the moment is passed we talk about all the things he can do because he’s a big boy and DS2 is a baby and can’t do those things. I also saw it as maybe a cry for more attention so whichever parent was available would try to help him feel noticed. All this to say I think it’s “normal.”

tbirdlove and mirabelle thank you! I suspected it's just her way of adjusting and I am finding the line between playing along with her and talking about the differences between big girl and baby. It helps to know I'm not totally alone.

DD woke me up when she kept stirring trying to pass gas. I expected her to wake fully with all the little noises she was making. She has not woken up, but I've been awake now for at least an hour and a half. My boobs feel tingly and I'd like for her to eat, but she's showing no signs of waking anymore.

I'm currently nursing M while listening to H painting L's nails in the other room, they're providing great entertainment!

Took DD to ballet this morning but I put on a sports bra and no breast pads. Stupid me wore a light gray shirt and got a leaky boob. 😩

We seem to be back to being up every 3-4 hours overnight after some time getting a nice first stretch. I don't know if it's because I stopped swaddling him or if it's Leap 2 (he's in it based on birth date, not quite yet based on due date, but Leap 1 seemed to hit based on birth date).
With DS1 we never swaddled after the first few days home from the hospital and while DS2 seems to like being swaddled I don't want to have to deal with transitioning him out at some point so I decided to stop. Night 1 arms out did ok but night 2 and tonight are not great. But I was starting to think he's in Leap 2 so maybe that's the culprit. If it is I'd rather not resume swaddling.
Lots of typing just to say I guess I'll deal with the more broken overnight sleep again for a bit and see what happens.

Maybe try swaddling one arm out and see how he does with that 😊 I hope you can get some sleep!

DD has been fighting her swaddle the last few nights too. We'll see if it continues.
The nurses at our hospital highly recommended we apply for the hospitals financial assistance program even though we were pretty sure we wouldn't qualify. Yesterday we got a letter saying they are lowering our bill by over a thousand dollars!I told DH we should use the money we saved to have someone come clean our house once or twice a month and he agreed we could ☺️

DS2 woke up 2 hours after I posted that. I swaddled him when I put him back down and he was up again 3 hours later so seems like the swaddle didn't make a difference. So no more swaddle it is and I'll be assuming he's in Leap 2.
And DS1 has a cold... We went 2 months without one which is the longest he's fine in a while thanks to being new to daycare this year. We had dinner with my in-laws last weekend and my FIL ended up with a cold earlier this week so I'm thinking this one could be from him, not daycare. Really hoping the baby, MH, and I can avoid this one. Especially since Thanksgiving with my dad's side is this up upcoming weekend.

We have a measles outbreak near me. 15 reported cases as of a couple days ago - up quickly from only two cases a couple days before that. I'm nervous to take DD anywhere as the measles are highly contagious.
And apparently we're potty training... DS had started talking about the potty a lot again recently so I got his little potty out thinking we'll just see what happens. Well, he's actually using the dang potty, mostly unprompted, with minimal accidents! I'm quite surprised. And honestly not sure I'M ready for this right now 😂

DD has slept maybe 1.5 hours total today. I'm really not sure what is going on but she took forever to fall asleep and would wake up after 20-30 minutes and not go back to sleep for every nap. I spent way too much time today trying to get DD to sleep.

Cold and flu season with new babies scares the shit out of me. And measles outbreak news reports are almost more than I can handle. Fuck measles.

WTF... measles tbirdlove?? I hate this shit. It's 2018 and there's been a vaccine for a long time. There should be no measles outbreaks!!

DS1 spiked a fever yesterday and again today so we ended up at the peds office. Ears, throat, and chest were clear so it's just an aggressive cold. Sucks that even though it's "just" a cold, fever means no daycare. Thankfully my mom is around again tomorrow to take him. I'd rather not have a sick toddler here with the 2 month old all day.

Apparently 21 states have seen cases. I hope the yucky cold passes soon and I'm glad your Mom is able to help out!

DD has been really hard on my nipples the last couple of days. They're sore. When she's actually nursing it feels like she's either applying some pressure with her gums or is sucking a lot harder than usual. When she's comfort nursing (for what feels like a million damn hours every evening) she's been flailing about, jerking her head around and yanking on them or slopping them in and out of her mouth.
I've tried all of the different shapes of pacifiers that I have. She acts like she's being tortured with all of them.

Nymeria I hope your big guy feels better soon. Mine gets a fever with his colds too. tbirdlove I hope you can find a paci that works soon. The brand my first liked my second hated, so we’ve had to try a few.

We have L's two week old check today. Hoping to have them check his rash because I'm afraid it could be yeast now. He's still pooping constantly and seeming uncomfortable quite a bit. Fingers crossed all good news and he feels better soon.

I woke up MOTN with a clogged duct 😞 I nursed DD on that side while massaging it, and then pumped while massaging it more. It's still sore this morning and I'm not sure if it's from still being clogged, or if it hurts from massaging the heck out of it. So between that and my sore nipples, I'm not having a great start to the day today.
