Omg we switched from a level 1 to a preemie bottle nipple and she slept better than ever! Even better than when we were BF (she would often cough and choke at let down). No grunting just eat burp sleep! Now we just need to sleep longer than 3 hours.

If a meal makes me extra gassy, would that also effect DD? Today has been tough. ETA - Kellymom says no. We have a chili chip dip we make a lot during football season and it definitely affects DS2. It definitely affected DS1 too.

I downloaded a digital color by numbers app on my phone. I love it but turns out it's kind of addicting for me so I keep playing that instead of coming here when I'm on my phone. Need to work on doing both during phone time! lol

I got DD to drink from a bottle today! 🙂 It took a little trickery, but we did it! Now hopefully I can get her some more practice today while DD1 is at daycare.

The bottle success was short lived, but hopefully she'll figure it out soon. I just feel so trapped and wish I could let someone else take her for more than an hour or two. I'm very glad I won't have to worry about going back to work though, I would be so stressed right now if I had to go back to teaching anytime soon.

I think DS might have reflux? He rarely ever spits up but he does this thing where he gags on something (when not eating) and then coughs and makes yucky face. Could that be reflux even though not really spitting up?

I have had a stomach bug for 3 days now 😷. Everyone else seems fine although baby is sleeping more than usual so maybe he’s sick too. No fevers. Just keep waiting for it to run its course.

It often freaks me out. But I'm glad I'm not the only one dealing with this weird gag/cough thing. mirabelleThat sounds awful and hope you are feeling better soon!

I haven’t noticed him doing it lately but my doctor said it’s just their body isn’t used to the gag reflex so sometimes a little bit of their food might be sitting in a spot and they don’t know better to swallow to get it down. Or something along those lines.

How often do you change diapers overnight?
I'm trying to change DD less so as not to wake her up so much, but I have a hard time knowing she's wet and not changing her. I keep reminding myself that DS sleeps all night and doesn't get changed and I'm sure he wets his diaper throughout the night. I always changed DS at every wake up when he was an infant. Her I'm currently doing once a night.

tbirdlove we are still changing at almost every wake up. She just started not pooping overnight so i want to make sure she’s keeping that up before we slow down on changes. It does feel wrong to not Change her but then i change my toddler in the I know she’s been wet for a while.

tbirdlove, unless he poops or his diaper is really full we don’t change him overnight. I change him at 10:30 before he nurses to sleep and then between 6-7am when he wakes up for his morning feed. He normally wakes up to eat once or twice between 11-7 but it’s a quick feed and back to sleep.

I've been feeling bad because he is soaked in the morning, but he doesn't seem to be bothered by it.

I'm still changing about 3 +/- times a night because I have a poop machine for a baby and he's not quite 2 weeks old yet.

We've started to change DD less at night too. She slept 9 hours straight last night! I was worried when I woke up at 4:30 and she hadn't woken up yet.
Dd1 has pink eye so she didn't get to go to daycare today. Boo! We've been watching a lot of curious George since she doesn't seem to feel very good, I think she has a cold too.

Sounds like I'm on par in overnight diaper changes with those whose babies have passed the constant pooping phase 😊 I'm doing the same as you cheeksmum and knitty. Yay for good sleep brenna!! I hope your DD1 feels better soon. And I need to try Curious George with DS.

I like it because it has two short segments for each episode so we can just watch a ten minute segment and still watch a whole storyline. It's on Hulu.

tbirdlove - I change DS2 once overnight at his first wakeup (first wakeup is usually after his longest stretch). He pees a lot so no overnight change could lead to leaks. Plus so far he eats and goes back to sleep ok **knock on wood** so there's no reason not to change him.

Ugh. DD has started sleeping more lightly and DS will not stop shouting and banging shit around. He's so dang loud all. day. long.
I finally get her off my boob, passed out and in her glider and he comes through here like a freight train..... Now she's awake again and will likely need a boob back in her mouth in about 30 seconds. And she'll probably be awake and fussing all though DS's bedtime 😑
Must work on crib naps.

I have a white noise app on my phone that I always have on when I'm wearing DD so it might cover up a little of dd1's screaming or being loud.

Anyone else have a toddler/older child who wants to be a baby again? I think it's just her way of dealing with not being the only one but L has been crying and insisting she be treated like a baby. Tonight she told me "not need toilet, need be changed like M". I know she needs to adjust, and I need to make sure she's getting one on one time with both H and me, but what can I do to discourage her from being babyish?

knitty I've definitely heard of exactly that type of regression in older kids when new baby comes. I haven't dealt with it myself but I think I've read before to kinda go with it. Let her act a little baby-ish but heavily praise her more mature actions to encourage the return of those behaviors. Definitely try to carve out a little one-on-one time 😊
