Leaf 🌱 I guess they can hate us both lol clementine I'm no expert so o can only speak to my own short experience. For quite a while it was Feed 6pm Bed 7pm Dreamfeed anywhere from 8:30(if he woke up) to 10:30 or whenever I went to bed. Feed at 4:30 I was setting an alarm because he would wake at 5:30 and that was too close to my 7:30 alarm. After a while I stopped the 4:30 Feed and he would sleep till 6:30 and I had decided I wanted to start my morning at 6:30 anyway. From dream feed to 6:30 I got quite uncomfortable but it got better. And now I sometimes skip the dream feed if I've last fed him at 7 or so and my supply had adjusted so I feel totally fine at 6:30 if I've done a dream feed. Still uncomfortable if I skip dream feed, but if I stop altogether I think it would adjust again TLDR it worked for me. Also I think my WTE In The First Year book says that at 4 months some babies can sleep 12 hours so I haven't worried. I just know that that morning feed will take twice as long as daytime feeds.

In my experience, boobs adjust, supply adjusts around 3- 4 months. You'll stop getting engorged as he sleeps longer and longer stretches. You may have to just express a bit of milk to relieve discomfort. It can increase too when babies have growth spurts and developmental leaps and want to nurse more.

Those of you that only nurse on one side at a time, idk if I could do it. I think my capacity is way too low on one side for me to feed him only on one side. WDYT? And I guess you did both sides in the morn if they're STTN?

Leaf 🌱 alwayscheeseHis last feed is around 8, he goes down by 8:30, and then I go to bed by 9 or 9:30. I suppose I could try staying up a little later and doing a dream feed. I’m just sooo ready for bed by then that I never want to stay up any later. So if I don’t dream feed or pump MOTN my supply will adjust? I’m just so worried about reducing my supply and having to wean this soon. NO ONE HATE ME OK DD2 sleeps from 10pm-6/7am regularly. I'm very happy for you and anyone else who has a baby that sleeps more than 3 hours at a time.

clementine i agree with others that your supply will eventually adjust once they drop motn feeds or go through spurts. dd2 definitely nursed differently than dd1 and it has been a bit of a learning process for me. she is a one side at a time nurser most of the time, whereas dd1 always took both sides for each feed. i started that way for dd2 and she just never took the second side. i was slightly worried that she wasn’t getting enough, but had a weighted feed done with my pedi and found that she was so i’ve stopped stressing about it too much and trust that she is taking what she needs at this point. alwayscheese yep i nurse both sides in the am and even sometimes for motn when i am feeling a little engorged. i probably play things too fast and loose with my supply though🤷♀️

Thank you for all the anecdotes! He’s slept from 8:30 to 5:30 only a couple times now so I’ll see how it goes over the next few days/weeks and decide what’s going to work best. alwayscheese L usually only nurses one side, which he’s been doing since about 2-3 months. We did a weighted feed at lactation and that helped me feel more comfortable with it. Occasionally he’ll do both first thing in the morning or before bedtime.

Oh so it's whether the baby wants the other side? Cause ya he definitely wants both sides.

DD1 is almost three and didn’t start to STTN until a month or two ago. I wanted to kill any one that talked about good sleep. I was so tired and so grumpy 😂 For the record, I have done exactly zero things differently.

And I guess you did both sides in the morn if they're STTN? We almost always just do one side but I’m pretty engorced in the morning. I feed her from the most uncomfortable side and pumo the other and usually get 4-5ish ounces so I’m guessing she’s getting a full feed. My pedi said that block feeding is more common with your second BF baby bc your body has more experience ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ DD1 usually drained both sides so it seems to be true for me.

Ds turned 3 in May and still usually wakes at least once. Usually just an hour or two after going to bed to ask for water. E had a few weeks of sttn and I was so hopeful.

clementine DS2 changes when and how many times he wakes to feed overnight and the first night it’s different my boobs will be all WTF? But after a night or two they calm down on the engorgement. That pattern took longer with my first though but it did happen. Around 8 months your boobs start just producing milk only when baby feeds which is very much a relief.

I’m struggling with the lack of time for first child guilt today. He’s been a bugger for H in the mornings because he wants me which is frustrating but also makes me feel awful. I’m doing my best but in his eyes it’s apparently not quite enough. I thought having H home for two weeks would make that easier but it seems to be making it harder. I guess DS1 thinks H can take the baby but isn’t (baby is having none of being not on me at the moment).

Thank you all for the hair pats. I just feel so guilty for being in a by-the-book good situation and hating it, like I'm ungrateful. This is how my mom guilt has been manifesting the worst lately.

I say this with love. That's always been a red flag to me that my depression is creeping in. When empirically I know that my circumstances are fine, and why do I feel so hateful/despondent/panicky over it. Possibly SAH is a good choice for you and hopefully you can figure out how to make it work. But until you get to that point or as you talk that through, you deserve that clearer calmer state of mind. You're not ungrateful at all! This is a huge season of change and you'll figure it all out! No guilt necessary.

Happy 4th to all celebrating tonight! For the first time ever we’ve skipped fireworks and stayed home. It feels like everyone around us is blowing stuff up. Not sure how I’m going to sleep, but last night was rough and sleep is needed.

Everything calendula said, Rama. Very wise words <3 We spent most of the day with DH's parents, and I'm so beyond fried tonight. DS2 didn't nap well with all the general noise and activity, and we're hitting the point where I'm really starting to want a place with a third bedroom. But we have SO much going on right now, especially with DS1's diagnosis, we agreed to put buying a house on hold a little longer. Re: nursing, both my boys are/were one-side nursers. Occasionally DS1 would want the second side, and it was always very obvious. Weirdly, DS1 nursed for much longer per session and more sessions per day than DS2, and DS2 is still the chunkiest chunk. Bodies are weird.

The boys need one on one time with me and we are usually gone for less than an hour.

The post partum hair loss is starting for me. I am soooo grossed out by hair. This is seriously one of my least favorite parts of being pregnant.
Middle of the week holidays succcccccck. I feel so drained this AM. I fell asleep on my subway ride. And the coffee I got is way too sweet. Yuck.

And I guess you did both sides in the morn if they're STTN? I do the opposite side she fed from last, or whichever side is fuller if I’m engorged in the morning. Idk if my capacity is higher or I just trained my body but I’ve only ever fed from one side, even with DS.

Rama I’m late to this but am sending love, hugs and positive thoughts. My PPD was bad with my first and it’s a dark place for sure. I’m glad you’re able to seek help and hope you find improvement soon. <3

He usually only takes one side for the next 2 feedings, then back to both sides in the afternoon/evening. My DD used to nurse both sides every time she ate🤷🏼♀️ Basically i just go with whatever works at that moment!

Haha I feel badly I was pretty much radio silence on here after my birth announcement and now I'm back at my desk clogging up every thread. Tapatalk annoys me too much to use it regularly.
