Sorry for all the sick kiddos. Hope they all feel better soon. I’ve been running around trying to clean and pack. We’re leaving tomorrow to visit family in Virginia for a couple of weeks.

Sorry to hear about all the sick kiddos! I hope everyone's feeling better asap.
It is still hot as balls here, but now there's a bit of a breeze. I'm fighting the urge to shave my head on the back porch.
I scored a city mini double on kijiji yesterday for a more than reasonable price and SO went to pick it up today. It is love.

I’m still deciding whether I want the double or single and keeping an eye on second hand sites. I am ready to burn my current stroller it is giving me the absolute shits.

I didn't think we would need a double because ds always wanted to walk anyway-until he saw baby sister gettin' strolled around. And he's been getting charlie horses in this heat so he was asking to be carried all.the.time. The double is well worth it.

DD1 is almost three but is insanely tall. We have a ride along board that she LOVES and it’s been working out really well. We decided we’d rather have two strollers than a double for big trips so I picked up another this morning off the BST. It’ll live at my moms house and we’ll just grab it if we need it.

DS1 is three, but not tall. I have a skateboard on my stroller but he’s hit and miss with it and it’s not really working with the infant bucket seat clicked in. DS2 is still too small to sit in the stroller. I hate hate my stroller for the fact an infant can’t sit in it in any of the accessory configurations that I can do.

It's late, but I made it on a Monday! I'm sorry to hear about all the sick kiddos. Never feel like you're overreacting by calling the nurse line, especially when they're under 6 months old.
I love my DH very dearly and he really is a fantastic dad, but his strong suit...is not the newborn/little baby stage. I was gone for 3 hours on Saturday for a haircut and color, and the baby apparently screamed almost the entire time and refused a bottle. DH just tends to freeze up when the first thing he tries doesn't work, so I'm texting him suggestions and he's texting his freak-out while I'm supposed to be getting some relaxing self-care time.
So, I guess we need to practice giving DS2 a bottle a bit more.

What is everyone doing about fireworks this year? I know DD will want to go, should I try and pick up some of those baby headphones today?

I know DD will want to go, should I try and pick up some of those baby headphones today? *IF* DD1 is in a good mood we’ll go to where you can see fireworks but are far enough away that they’re not too loud. DD2 will be snuggled in a wrap and I’ll likely just keep a hand over her ear. DH is likely working through the whole day and we’ll into the night sooooo we may be doing nothing. Also, I saw my friend do this hack: use a solo cup to protect your kid’s hand while doing sparklers

nevertoomanyshoes can you sell your stroller? Maybe just get an adapter for the infant seat on something that fits your needs better?

Strollers: I swear I live in a community where people just throw brand new stuff away BUT thankfully they list it on our community fb site. 3 weeks ago DH runs out of the house and came back with a chicco echo double. Hardly any wear on the tires. $190 stroller for Zilch. We bought a little baby insert for it and the girls love it. He also came home with a pink balance bike and a tandem bike attachment. Brand new things you guys. Seriously they have money to throw around here.
I’m sorry about all the sick Little’s. One thing I’ve learned is saline is amazing for babies AND especially the sprays with a nozzle like Ocean Baby. Also, you prob need more than you’re giving - I count to 10 as I spray. I learned this when ds1 had RSV. They need tons of saline to help thin stuff out!

commiseration tit katietopaz. mh is the exact same way - i have left him in charge of bedtime with the baby exactly one time and it went exactly the same way for us. it is stressing me out so much that he can’t comfort her and she won’t take a bottle. i know i need to try and incorporate one a few times a week but i can’t bring myself to do it.

What is everyone doing about fireworks this year? I know DD will want to go, should I try and pick up some of those baby headphones today? DS hasn't really mentioned it. Our town doesn't do fireworks on the Fourth--instead they do them on the town's festival day in September, and the town over does them on New Years Eve. Last year we drove to another neighboring town but with the heat this year I'm not motivated to do that either. So hard to coordinate that with the baby! That said. There is a 10K race that I am doing with a friend tonight at Gillette Stadium where the Patriots play. You finish on the 50 yard line and there are fireworks after. So I'm running that and we are tailgating afterwards! So I guess the short answer to your question is that I'm ditching my children with H and going to fireworks alone ;-)

We aren't going where they do fireworks here only because we would get back late and we don't want to deal with the traffic. But we watched the fireworks when we were at Disney and I just held the baby's ears and she did fine.

Idk about fireworks. Our town does then tonight, but I don't want to have to worry about DS plus DH has to work at 11. We might drive to a hill where we can see them but be away from the noise and crowds and DH would actually be able to get away to go to work.

The baby does this thing where she falls asleep around 7pm but takes like a short nap and will be up again around 8. Then it takes a few hours for her to go down again. Last night she didn't go to sleep until 10pm. I think that short nap is throwing her off. I told Mh tonight I'm going to take her upstairs around 6 45 and wrap her and try to get her to sleep in the bassinet and see if I can make that her first stretch of the night instead of a short nap.
Last night she didn't go to sleep until 10pm then up at 1 and again at 2 30 and up for the day at 5. D1 was such a good sleeper I guess I couldn't luck out twice.

We were up most of the night. Transitioning from the swaddle is the worrrrssstttt. Last week my daughter slept from 8 pm - 6:30 am 3 nights! And now, without the swaddle, up all night.
So. Merlin sleep suit or ZipadeeZip?

I think we have to move DD1 out of the crib finally. Ugh. 3 years of being contained at night was nice. I’m not ready for the big girl bed life.

I feel like the Merlin makes more sense because its weighted and the Zipadee isn't. But we will get more use out of the Zipadee, since you can continue to use it after they roll. But yeah we need to try something. She is just all arms everywhere and she can't fall asleep.

DD1’s room is totally safe and we have one of those door knob covers so she can’t get out. I feel like a lot of older kids don’t have much of an issue transitioning out so hopefully it’s the same for you!!

We didn't do fireworks this year because we were all spent and it was so hot and buggy.
But I was prepared and had headphones for both kids. Ds is very sensitive to loud noises but loves fireworks so we've got a lot of use out of them in the last year.

Rama how are you doing today? Hoping pickup was good yesterday and you're feeling a little better today. Thinking of you. Honestly? Worse. This morning was a shitshow and began with MrRama and I arguing. He didn't help me prep the baby stuff at all, so I kind of let him have it. I got to work half an hour late and I've basically broke down crying after dropping him off, before taking Beeb in.
Pickup was fine yesterday, I happened to show up at the witching hour for almost all of the babies. Only mine and one other were chill. I don't know if I can do this. I'm losing motivation to keep up any kind of appearances fast and my mood has tanked considerably. I'm going to try to see my therapist this week because, yeah, this is all pretty extreme brainstuff.

Re: fireworks --
Our city has them banned within city limits, but they still do a display that everyone can go to. So, since I'm not allowed to shoot off fireworks at home and I'm definitely not taking my kid that goes to bed at 7:30pm out when it gets dark, we'll just be enjoying/dealing with the illegal fireworks that our neighbors will undoubtedly fire off all night. If it gets loud, I do have a pair of Baby Banz for Lyra, so her ears will be fine.

For fireworks on Canada Day I dropped the ball and forgot ear protection. A slept through the whole thing. Didn’t even flinch when they started. DS on the other hand could not deal with the noise and buried his head in Hs shoulder the whole time. But he hasn’t stopped asking about watching fireworks since... *shrug*

I feel so fucking isolated and trapped. Every hour I'm here just feels like it's draining my goddamn life away. I hated working before I had Lyra and now I definitely hate it much worse. I feel like I've given up on life.

I stayed home with Noelle today. She is less miserable but still has a fever and isn't herself so I couldn't leave her.
