I know to improve your credit score, you want to use 1/3 of your available credit. So if I had a credit card with a $3000 limit, I'd want to use $1000 of it, making payments on time every month, but keeping the balance around that amount. We aren't applying for anything anytime, so I'm not overly concerned, although I would like to continue to improve our credit scores as much as possible, for future. Before we bought our house, I worked with a credit repair company. I had previously filed for bankruptcy and H's credit was shit, so I learned a few 'tricks.' Like the not having credit cards, or having them with no balance, isn't improving your credit. Neither of us had a credit card at that time and the first thing the credit repair place told me, was for both of us to get credit cards and charge 1/3 the available credit. It's such a game and I just hate to damage what we have worked so hard on. That's weird, I'd heard to never use more than 25% of your credit at any point in time, with less being optimal as long as you're consistently using some amount >0%.

Which would make sense to normal people. Creditors are weird. It did improve our credit scores though. And I paid those people pretty good money for their help. I would prefer to have $0 credit card debt, if possible, just because the interest rates make me die a slow death everytime I make a payment.

cagoldi I don't know WTF I have. I just feel like complete shit and no matter what I take it doesn't get better. I would feel more comfortable seeing a doctor though. If that makes you feel more confident, go that route. I've used Amwell once in the past for a sinus infection and I was happy with them. A doctor is only going to be able to see visually if you have congestion and drainage and/or feel swollen glands. Easy enough to describe those symptoms over a video conference, IMO. And the treatment for EI and sinus infection would be the same. What she said.

Fridays are usually pizza nights at our house, but I had a roast thawed in the fridge that I needed to make so that's been going in the crockpot all day. It smells good, but I still want pizza instead. DH will be gone tomorrow night so I guess I'll have to order pizza for me and the kids.
N said she didn't want to take a nap and wasn't tired... 2 hours later, she's still sleeping. I hope she's feeling better tomorrow because I don't want to be stuck inside all day again. She's invited to a birthday party and I'm sure she'll be sad if she misses it.

I'm so happy I took the day off. I feel a lot better, got my follow up with the ortho scheduled for Wed, and Dh stayed home too and did a ton around the house.

I should have used the app last Saturday instead of sitting at urgent care all day, but I forgot about it.

My sister cracked me up last Monday when she took me to the ER.
She said, "I know they're puffy because you're having an allergic reaction to your medicine, but your lips look soooo good right now."
LOL

Kind of the opposite, I worry that we haven't let him have much access to phones, tablets, etc. My Mom and my MIL will both bring their tablets if they're babysitting for any extended period of time, but that's really it. And let's face it, a mastery of technology is going to be an expectation for these kids. I'm just concerned about tipping the balance over to too much screen time (see above comments about couch potatoes!). This has crossed my mind, but I think they will be exposed in school pretty early (B has computer class every week or so at age 3-4; I had a weekly computer class starting in 1st or 2nd grade in the early 90s). Also, I read something recently that resonated...if you gave an older student an iPad—who had never seen one before—how long would it take them to become as proficient as a child who’d been playing on one since preschool? Probably about 5 minutes. That kind of exposure is not available in all schools. SD barely knows how to use a computer as a Jr in HS. They do expect a lot of work at home. But I think computer proficiency goes beyond app use. There are a lot of college grads that I know who can't do anything but type (no excel, no advanced options in word). I also think that a kid can learn the alphabet from something other than seeing letters on a wall or in a song. It is an important medium for learning that shouldn't be discounted. There are even many studies that are trying to get older adults to use computers to keep them engaged in thinking. I know you didn't intend anything by your comment and I know you prefer very limited access but computers in school and home.

We cleaned my closest, H's, and DD's. I put all my sweaters in 4 categories- I can wear now so they better be too big by the end of winter; I can wear now but I sorta still look pregnant if I do; I probably shouldn't wear for a while; and Hopefully, someday, maybe? I'm afraid to try on my jeans but I did get a chance pair of work pants over my thighs (zipping going to be a while.) I had to keep C with me so I could look at his cute little face while I tried it all on.

I went to the grocery store for the first time this week. I only bought food for done snacks because we have so much in our freezer for meals. Even though mh was home all week doing nothing, he got no groceries for us and only made 1 meal. Now I'm with E at CFA.

I'm trying to declutter some toys -- the little stuff is easy to hide in garbage bags, but the big stuff might have to wait til a nicer day so they can hit the curb (or the trunk of my car) immediately.

There are even many studies that are trying to get older adults to use computers to keep them engaged in thinking. I know you didn't intend anything by your comment and I know you prefer very limited access but computers in school and home. Oh I agree they are vital skills, and yes, it is much easier and more beneficial to learn as a child vs. an adult. I do think children need to be exposed to computers at home and in school, and ideally they would have mastered the basics by middle or high school at latest (and I realize that this is not the norm, unfortunately). But at 4, no, I don't stress about it...like, on my list of worries, it's not even in the top 50. Probably not even top 100. As far as the iPad goes, I don't discount the positives to its use, but do I think B's education is being hindered b/c he's not learning the alphabet via an Apple product? No. For every study showing it engages kids or adults in learning, there's another study showing that it's decreasing attention spans, making kids more dependent on 'instant gratification', etc. So :shruggy guy: Maybe I'm reading too much into your comment, but if you think that I have some hardline position on 'no technology in the home', I want to correct that impression, b/c I don't. Obviously as my kids grow they will be given more time with computers/devices for both schoolwork and recreation, but right now--for various reasons--we limit access.

My cousins wife teaches at the school that B and Julia will be going to, starting in grade 3 they have their own Crome books, parents buy from the schoolboard, have all access at home and everything is done on that.
Literally blew my mind, Grade 3!

I'm driving around with a bunch of junk in my trunk (ha!), as well. Well, not really driving because snow, but you know what I mean. I live in fear B will go out there and discover some of the stuff he swore he plays with (but actually doesn't). I need the snow to melt so I can get to Goodwill!

This afternoon we went down to the basement to play for a little bit. I had DH put the trampoline down there and S played with some old baby toys. I need him to put the easel down there and maybe the picnic table. If it can’t be used as a finished space yet at least I can use it for play this winter. I wish the floor wasn’t so dusty though. I’m considering mopping down there to get up some of the dust. Also, I hope we can get the electrical done soon so there aren’t exposed wires.
Currently working on night 2 of sleep training. She’s seeming to calm down sooner but I’m pretty sure I’ll have to make at least one more trip in there.
