Happy Friday!!! So happy we booked and extra two night and won’t be going home just yet! Both kids were up at 5-5.30, which sucked. Dd is napping and ds and I are watching a movie. We really need to reign in screen time, starting Monday. Divided in two three slots it easily adds up to 1.5 hours a day. How much do your kiddos watch?

Hi all! Schools are all cancelled up here because of the temps. Here's a view of my projection clock, and real feel is -23 at the moment. I've got my second blood draw this morning, and S has an OT appointment at 11:30. We're going to dinner at some friends of ours' tonight. In other words, we've gotta be out in this mess a whole lot more than I'd like. But it'll be a good day.

Cs school opens at 9. My work opens at 10:30 but I think I'm going to stay home and rest. My shoulder was throbbing most of the night and if I'm going to heal, I need to rest. nam2013 on school days C watches 30-60mins of tv but weekends there's more. Especially when he wakes up super early.

Happy Friday ladies! Damn wedding, I hope you get some relief from your shoulder soon! nam2013 E watches way more than she should, but after working all day, cooking dinner, cleaning up dinner, I don't have the energy to play with her until bedtime every night. She easily watches an hour each evening, more on weekends, although we do interact with her way more on weekends, as well as run errands and such. At times I worry about it, like when she's speaking to me and it's as if she's recording her own Youtube video. I don't feel too hot today. I can't quite seem to shake whatever this crap is. I'm supposed to go to a baby shower tomorrow for my friends using a surrogate, so I'm hoping I feel up to it.

mwhip most school days LO doesn't watch tv. On the weekends it depends on what's happening. Currently over Christmas break he has watched a ton more tv. Between me, dh and the random nannies I don't even want to know how much tv he has watched.

So I found out yesterday the person I'm covering for won't be back until early February at the earliest. I'm not shocked but it looks like I won't get to finish my project, someone else will be and get all the credit even through I did the 2 years of prep work.

H heard back from the HR at the company he has been talking to. They received all the information from the background check company and emailed him to ask the discrepancy in what HE stated he made at his current job and what his paycheck stub states. He was pretty pissed they questioned it. He told them he fat fingered when he was typing, but he's now wondering if they will question his character because they think he lied.
I told him that's stupid...they should only be concerned that he was employed with who he stated, not what his payrate was. He didn't want them to contact his current employer, but if they would have, they would not have known what his current payrate is.
I think he's going to email them today and check the status because he had told them he would turn his notice in on 1/2 and start with them 1/15, but now everything is a week delayed because of this background check.

M hardly ever watches actual tv. And still has yet to sit through a full movie.
But he loooves to play games on the iPad and gets probably an hour a day with it.
I don’t know how I’d accomplish anything without it!

I hope upper management realizes how much time and effort you have put into this project and recognize you for it.

My kids watch more than most but we are movie/tv people. They aren't just perched in front of the tv, they are playing while it's on but they love to have something on in the background. I don't let them watch crap. It's either educational or a good movie. Not mindless shows. And my construction/farm equipment junkie, Jack, watches you tube videos of excavators, bob cats, bull dozers, tractors, combines and hay balers. He loves those.

I should also add that E doesn't actually watch TV, like SweetPotato, but she freaking loves the tablet or phone. She just loves those stupid Youtube videos. But will not watch anything on tv. I was watching Netflix the other day and she saw PJ Masks and some other animated movies, called them by name, but when I asked if she wanted to watch them, she said no because she was watching her videos.

I'm forever grateful to Moana for helping us drive home "you don't go near the water without mommy or daddy! Because its DANGEROUS!" They both say it every time little baby moana goes into the ocean. Thank you Disney.

TV isn't really something I worry too much about. C watches a decent amount, but we're really active otherwise. We try to be outside or out and about for most of the day. If he watches extra TV because he got up early, it's insanely cold out or I need a break, then whatever!

I have to drag them in kicking ad screaming during the months they can be outside. If they watch more in the winter to keep them from driving me bonkers, its still a win.

And on school days he watches waaay less, unless like you said there up really early.

I don’t think he watches more than I did as a kid, and I turned out fine. I’m pretty zealous about little-to-no iPad, though, so his screen time is limited to TV.

I don't stress about screen time. As long as I see my kids having a balance between play, concentration and focus on arts and crafts or other fine motor skills, and watching TV I'm happy. Because it's winter and we are home all day, the TV is almost always on in the background-- sometimes it's just music and sometimes it's a show, but the only time I really watch them stare at it is when they're getting tired, otherwise it's usually in combination with whatever they're doing. ETA: I also think some of the things they watch, especially on YouTube, really helped teach fundamentals (like letters, colors, numbers and shapes) Eta2: we treat the iPad more like a TV, where they ask to watch something or play something. It's not available to them at all times.

Morning!
Day 2 of Snowmageddon. I think we are going to venture out to Home Depot for new kitchen light fixtures today...nothing terribly exciting, since I don’t want to spend a ton, but literally anything we put up will be an improvement.

I heard JT's new song this morning and wasn't a fan. Then I watched the video and for some weird reason I like the song now. The video was....interesting.

I'm pretty sure all of us on here arent' plopping are kids down in front of the TV or the ipad for 10+ hours a day. So, no one should be worrying about screen time.
