Add me to the "make the bed every day" club. It's the very first thing I do when I wake up. I'd love to but lately J ends up in our bed and/or I'm running to get N before she wakes up j..

It just occurred to me that at some point maybe I should teach Atticus how to make his bed? I would never care if he did or did not do it every morning though. I feel like I can't teach Cadence to do something I don't do myself. My cats would be pissed if I made my bed. That's their favorite place to nap, snuggled up in the messed up duvet.

inthekitty I just got subway tiles for our hallway and kitchen, now we just need to put them on the wall. granted you don’t see them this often over here, but I love them! I think the problem with them here is they are over done. When I used to have HGTV I would see them in almost every reno. That's kind of HGTV's thing though--take a trend and run it into the ground. 😀 +1. They whip out the subway tiles and I'm all "boooooooooooooooooring, pick something NEW!"

Not you. Like you said, over there it isn't a common thing. Over here it is. Shiplap and subway tile.

I don't like busy backslashes, so a lot of colors or patterns is not my style. I like subway tile. There are a lot of other backsplash I like as well though so not sure what I'd pick myself. We have a bead board backsplash right now. I like it, but it's really just temporary until we replace our counters since we aren't all that crazy about them.

I like a Moroccan style (@nam you have this, right?), but I think I would get sick of it, so I would probably stay with plain. I also like playing with the direction of the tile. Chevron or something instead of the typical organization of them.

I can't decide if I like simple or something different. But I'm afraid the "different" one will look dated in a few years. I see subway tile as classic, like wains cotting or bead board. Not a phase like ship lap.

Chevron or something instead of the typical organization of them. We really wanted this for the kitchen floor, but decided to just put the wooden floor the rest of the living room has in it for now. We were in a bit of a time crunch and I really want to find some real old ones. This reminds me that I still owe you all some pics. I’m still waiting on the rug... 7 weeks and counting.

Don't like bead board or chair rails. LOL No one move in with me, I'll ruin your design dreams.

peachsmama, and I agree with you about the fear of it becoming dated. I'd be much more willing to do something different and fun if it were cheaper to replace!

For us subway (or metro as we call them) remind us of Paris and London and the 1920, we both love the Art Deco/ art nouveau style, not the whole house but touches here and there.

Obviously not all at once. I even like the idea of focus wall that has molding on it in a pattern (painted all one color) It's probably too busy for my minimalist vibes, but every time I see it I like it

My style leans more modern with traditional touches. DH is very traditional/almost dated and has basically stopped commenting on any details for the house. We agreed on the roof and house color and it stopped there. Oh, the sink. He loves the sink I picked. But he trusts me and loved how I did our old house so he's just not arguing anymore lol.

Gorgeous! You could do so much with that! I'm curious what flamingo would choose for a back splash! Yes! flamingo! Show me some things! I thought white, but it wouldn't EXACTLY match the white in the counter so is that okay? Then I thought grey, but it would but up to the grey upper cabinets and would that be to much grey? Then I thought a color but what color? What if I hate that color in 3 years? Then I stopped looking and decided to leave it empty until I could decide...

If I have to have siding on a house, I want gray with black shutters and door (but I'm not opposed to a colored door for a pop of color)

Omg yes, this is my pet peeve. Like, the multicolored mosaic glass or penny tile backsplash with a visually busy countertop material like granite. Pick one, you can’t have both! When we were looking at rentals that was an automatic disqualifier for me, I hate it that much.

If I have to have siding on a house, I want gray with black shutters and door (but I'm not opposed to a colored door for a pop of color) I wanted a deep navy. DH hated it. Like loathed that color. So we are doing a dark grey with big white trim. It has huge windows so if I did shutters it would look odd. But we are doing a black roof and I'm still deciding on the door. It will come primed white. So I need to pick a color.. I love a black door but I don't want the porch to look dark. But I can't decide which color. Maybe the navy I wanted? Lol.

I don't think our counters are very busy but my kitchen is my happy place and where the boys and I spend tons of time. So I don't want it to be over whelming or super busy.

If I have to have siding on a house, I want gray with black shutters and door (but I'm not opposed to a colored door for a pop of color) I love classic combos like this. When we were in Charleston over Christmas, we saw some gorgeous combos in the community we rented the house in...one I really liked was a light taupe/greige siding, cream trim, with a darker greige shutter. Wood-stain on the front door. It sounds blah describing it but in person, against all the green vegetation, etc, it looked terrific.

If I have to have siding on a house, I want gray with black shutters and door (but I'm not opposed to a colored door for a pop of color) I love that. My ideal house would have a dark brick, gray or tan siding and black shutters. Our current house has an ugly light tan brick so there isn't a ton we can do with siding/shutters. We have tan siding and a deep blue shutter. I so wish we could change our brick color!
