guster I got you. Finished side down so that when you fold the sheet over the duvet, you see the pattern. Since it matters for us since we never make the bed... ETA: also if a satiny or flannel sheet, then the better side is touching you.

I also don’t fold the sheet down though. Only the coverlet.

ETA: also if a satiny or flannel sheet, then the better side is touching you. I agree with this. Mostly for the rationale if having the nice side touching you. Alas, MH can't get behind it and that was a marriage compromise.

M doesn’t like the flat sheet. Josie, too. She asked me to remove it. H just mostly kicks it down in the night. So then I have to pull the comforter halfway down the bed when I’m making it. To be fair I thought they were pointless when I was a kid too.

Oh I didn't think about that. I get 2 weeks for every year I've been here. So 9 weeks pay so it should be higher now. Sweet! Remind me again what happened with your job? I remember a lot of drama but not the result... My bank was bought. We just found out if we got to keep our jobs and I was not retained. My last day is February 28th.

That’s why I like looking at new construction homes, they usually have the floor plan. Floor plans give me a she-boner. I also love walking through new homes under construction. The girls beg me to stop every time they see one. Late but this. I always tell MH that floor plans are like my porn.

We only use fitted sheets. Us too! Flat sheets just end up in a wad at the bottom for me.

MH was he first person that I met that put the flat sheet top down. It makes sense, but I never did it like that so I still do it my way. If he makes the bed, he does it his way and it doesn’t bother me. If I made the bed everyday it would probably matter, but I don’t, sooooo...

For all the congested and coughing kiddos. I just read to put potato slices in their socks while they sleep. Could be an old wives tale, but several people responded with positive outcomes.

Long story super short: The cat threw up on our bed and we needed to change the sheets and wash the comforters. The kids are asleep so and MH's said he would help me. Apparently, we've never made s a bed together before bc he didn't know that flat sheet goes on upside down (unfinished side up). Is that something people do? Don't do? Don't care about? I know Martha Stewart--and my not-delightful grandmother--are/were emphatic that the top sheet goes on upside down, but I always put it finished side up. My mom does it that way, but I’m a rebel like flamingo

Working retail for so many years at a home store made me a bed snob, the flat sheet is nice side down because you fold over the duvet when you pull it back, therefore making room for your sleeping pillow, sham pillow sitting on the mattress/fitted sheet then decorative pillows sitting on the folded over duvet.
If I dont fold down my flat sheet then i do put it fancy side up so when the bed is made, which is every morning, you see the nice part under the above noted pillows.

It just occurred to me that at some point maybe I should teach Atticus how to make his bed?
I would never care if he did or did not do it every morning though.

Re sheets. Fitted on the mattress and we never used anything other than duvet covers, do not like loose sheets.

Have you guys seen this zippered kid bedding that has the sheet and comforter all in one? It'd be super easy for the kid to make their bed and a nice way to keep the blankets on. Only thing that holds me back is that if they're hot it'd be hard to kick the blankets off. beddys.com/

O gets upset if i don’t make his bed. He doesn’t like it to be left unmade. I should really teach him to do it himself.

I think the problem with them here is they are over done. When I used to have HGTV I would see them in almost every reno. That's kind of HGTV's thing though--take a trend and run it into the ground. 😀

STUCK But I love subway tiles. And now I've seen the little ones, they are super cute too. I think once we get our counters in I'm going to get a few options for back splash and like hot glue them to the wall and live with them for a few weeks until I decide.

I read something about having them make their bed starting everyday at age 5. And don't go back and correct their mistakes. She showed her daughters progress over a few months and she gets good at it! It's a pride thing for them. I think I'll do that once we are in the house.

Add me to the "make the bed every day" club. It's the very first thing I do when I wake up.
