peachsmama, that's awesome! I didn't really know who Chip and Joana were either--but MH totally did. He also knew all about the Tarek gossip. Hah! We don't have cable anymore so no HGTV (sad face) but I used to watch the Property Brothers occasionally. But every damn house they decorated and renovated to look exactly the same. They also had an impersonal feel like the living rooms would make great fancy hotel lobbies. I thought Drew, you need to flex your design muscles, Bro. It doesn't take much talent to just do the same damn thing over and over again with no consideration of the style of the people actually living in the house. I can't stand subway tile. I think it looks so boring and HGTV thinks it need to go in EVERY kitchen.

Maddie had her hearing test finally. Okay in her right ear but mild loss in her left. The audiologist wanted to do one more test just to confirm and then will likely refer us to a child hearing aid center. Maddie's getting ahead of herself and already trying to think of what color hearing aid she wants. "If I get mint or teal Cass will be so jealous!"

inthekitty the 2nd black mirror episode is intense. Archangel. And apparently it was directed by Jodie Foster. Interesting. Yes it was! I did not see the end taking that turn. I love Jodie Foster. I really loved the 4th episode I think, something like Hang Up the DJ. Got me in the feels as the kids say (or at least they did back in '17). I have 2 episodes left. MH is officially hooked and wants to watch all the other episodes with me.

I just finished the 3rd episode. People are crazy. But, the idea of a pizza truck is pretty damn cool.

Ok trtlcrzy here are my thoughts; this drawing in particular isn’t to scale but I measured everything out and I think it will work. my thought is to rotate your sofa so it faces the door. Put one of the end tables along the wall with the lamp—that will leave the other end with b/n 3-4’ of walk-space. Then in front of the railing I’d do a couple upholstered chairs (nothing too huge) with your other end table in between. Add a chunky lamp there (as opposed to something skinny) with a light-colored shade to pop against the dark wood and gray wall behind. If you keep a TV on the existing wall you could do a chair and ottoman in the corner with your floor lamp. (I could also see a smaller TV working in the corner kind of angled out towards the room where I have the chair and ottoman, but if you’re wanting to maximize seating I think keeping it on the wall makes sense) In front of the sofa I would do some sort of coffee table or ottoman—an oval or round might be nice and would be good for traffic patterns but a rectangular or square could work, too. Then—I *think* you’d have room for this—you could add a narrow console table behind the sofa; that would be pretty if you’re looking from kitchen or eating area and you wouldn’t just have the back of a sofa. Also helps prevent kids from climbing over the back of the sofa (maybe this is just boys? Ha) It would be an opportunity to accessorize with a stack of books, photo frames, or decorative Bowl, etc. When it comes time for window treatments I’d do the same thing in dining area and living room for continuity That was fun. Who’s next? Lol. (I’m open to feedback, ?s, etc)

Thanks flamingo! A couple of questions/notes. For the chairs by the railing you’re think like small armchairs or slipper chairs? There’s only about a foot of space between the wall and the start of the window so angling the Tv in that area probably won’t work. We can move it further down though closer to that wall. With our current couch a coffee table wouldn’t work since it’s a recliner, but I do plan to eventually get a new sofa that isn’t a reclining one for up here. ETA: what do you think about a small upholstered storage bench beneath the window? I could either keep toys or blankets in it.

Yeah, I think a small armchair or something along those lines could work; it could definitely have arms--I would just avoid big, bulky overstuff club chairs (or similar). I like the idea of a storage bench under the window, esp. if that corner is empty.

We get 2 weeks of a guaranteed spot before they open to families who are not currently enrolled. I decided to drop him to 4 full days starting in February since I'm not working. I wish I could see how that works out before I make a decision about next year but it will be too late. I think I'm staying with 4 full days. I want some time with him but he loves school.

We had to come get numbers at 12 and then registration for currently enrolled students and members of the church is from 5-6:30, then it opens up after that to everyone else. I think it’s a pretty dumb system. They’re finally at 96 so it shouldn’t be too much longer hopefully.

Our amazon dot stopped working this morning (won’t turn on at all). I’ve already been on the phone with amazon technical support for 20 minutes. If one more person asks me to unplug it and plug It back in I may scream.

I’m sure there are ppl out there (somewhere) who wouldn’t think to try that, but it always kills me when you call for help with cable/ internet or similar they make you do this 1000 times. I promise, I tried that already with high hopes for it to work—anything to avoid calling you people and losing an hour of my life.

You're good, flamingo! Your comment about the console table made me laugh. We had to move ours from behind the couch cause the kids would climb onto it from the couch and stand on it!

I know you’ve all been on the edge of your seat... but after 30 minutes with amazon, 2 transfers and unplugging it and replugging it AND pushing the reset button... I have to send it back and they’re sending me a replacement 🙄 flamingo I’m going to need to pick your design brain at some point too. I love our wood tile floors, but with baby I need to get a rug for the main room and I’m stuck on size and placement.

Long story super short: The cat threw up on our bed and we needed to change the sheets and wash the comforters. The kids are asleep so and MH's said he would help me. Apparently, we've never made a bed together before bc he didn't know that flat sheet goes on upside down (unfinished side up). Is that something people do? Don't do? Don't care about?

Now if we could somehow explain to Charlie that it's a snow day and he needs to sleep past 530 we'd be golden. Also, I was one of the loonies who went to the grocery store this afternoon. Lines like crazy.

flamingo helped me with one of the rooms in my house. It looked lovely for about four months, and then two children later it became the defacto playroom. At least her ideas are still in my head.

I don't have patterned sheets and I don't turn down the sheet, so I don't know if it actually matters, but I don't really think when I making the bed and I've always done it that way.

Finished side up for the flat sheet. I have heard it's the opposite but I can't wrap my head around it and refuse.

I braved the grocery store after work to get snacks for the storm. C was so great but I really didn't think about how I'd manage groceries with one arm. Particularly getting them into the house when they are in paper bags with no handles. I definitely overdid it and my shoulder hates me. I'm thankful for a snow day tomorrow.

Apparently, we've never made a bed together before bc he didn't know that flat sheet goes on upside down (unfinished side up). Is that something people do? Don't do? Don't care about? When making the bed with solid sheets I put them right side up. On the ones with a pattern I do wrong side up because when I fold them over it would look terrible. Ex: this is H’s bed right now: I folded up the corner so you could see the bottom side of the sheet.
