Ali7P, it’s all about being healthy and setting new habits. We’re not the w30 police— we don’t care if you have something non compliant once in a while! You do it however you’re going to get the most out of it.

I made an Asian zoodles bowl last night but it wasn’t that great. I think the sauce was off maybe?
I’m all stuffy and can’t taste anything, I did eggs and an orange for breakfast. Not sure about lunch yet.

We went out for hibachi last night 🙈 It was amazing. I'm not sue why I can't just suck it up & commit to the 30 days but it's just not happening. I'd like to hang here through the month, though. I do plan to eat "mostly W30". But I know that's not really the point. Today's plan: B: banana/egg mug cake L: shepherds pie (my last serving!) D: ? Maybe a burrito bowl Mostly W30 is still great. Everyone needs indulgences now and then. It’s how I lost weight last year, before I fell off towards the end of the year.

I finished my meal planning for the week. On the menu:
Fish tacos (using siete tortillas) with radish-jicama salsa and guacamole
Daikon radish curry over cauliflower rice pilaf
Butternut squash and cauliflower “risotto”
Lettuce wrapped veggie burgers* with baked sweet potato wedges and chipotle aioli (*pea protein based so not technically compliant)
Sweet potato noodles with vegan garlic alfredo sauce
Roasted carrots, sunchokes and broccoli over cauliflower rice, topped with a poached egg.

Has anyone else meal planned for the week? Other than the above recipe, I’m going to keep it pretty simple this week as I haven’t been feeling great.
Chicken breasts and asparagus Salmon, sweet potatos and broccoli Pork chops and brussel sprouts Chicken thighs and roasted zucchini / yellow squash

We’re halfway through! How’s everyone feeling so far? Feeling good! Much more energetic, even though I have been sick. I haven’t had many cravings this time around. I plan on having a few drinks on Friday and am nervous about going off the rails. I don’t want to deter any progress but it’s a once a year type event.

I'm feeling so so. I'm not seeing the results in my skin I was really hoping for. It has cleared up some but not as much as I had hoped. I know it can take time. My body has been through a lot. I just want to stop struggling with acne at age 31. It's really just not fair. I’ve read that “gut flora” can really affect one’s skin. I know that the W30 is in part about restoring the balance to gut bacteria, but it definitely takes time. I’ve also read that as it is working on getting the balance, it can get worse before ultimately getting better. I know I had a crazy breakout period on W30 that was really frustrating. Hang in there. I hope you ultimately get the results you want.

I’m feeling good half way through. When the month is over, I am going to try to keep up a W30 “light.” Keep out the dairy and grain, but add in quinoa, a glass of wine on a Friday or Saturday, and unrestricted legumes. And an occasional piece of chocolate.

Hi ladies, I didn't do so well this weekend. But I did get to meal prep my breakfast & lunches. I made compliant bacon, chopped veggies & roasted sweet potatoes to have in my veggie scrambles. For lunches I made chicken/apple sausage, roasted veggies & sweet potatoes. So yummy! I have leftover pork chops for dinner tonight and it looks like we're going to get a snow day tomorrow so I can take time to make dinners for the next couple of days.

I'm feeling really good. 4.8 lbs down and haven't deviated, as far as I can tell. We did go out to lunch on Sunday and I ordered a rustic tomato/basil soup. I took one bite (sip? slurp?) and felt like I could taste Parmesan cheese so I gave it to MH to finish. Agree with nochill and others that this has definitely boosted my fresh fruit/veggie intake. And last night I tried spatchcocking a whole chicken and roasting it. It was a lot of work and a LOT of time, but now I have roasted chicken for the rest of the week! Pretty proud of that one. I read somewhere that it takes 66 days to adapt to a new habit, so I plan on continuing Whole30 through February.

Tomorrow is another day nochill. Be kind to yourself. Can you have some mint or ginger tea to help with the bloated feeling? Also, were you eating a ton bc there was a specific non compliant thing you were craving? (I feel like I do that sometimes.) If the craving doesn’t pass tomorrow, it might be better to just have a small bite of whatever it is you really want.

I'm having a very frustrating day. I can't seem to stop eating. I've been compliant all day but I've eaten so much and feel very bloated. Even though it was all compliant, it still feels like a failure of a day. I'm trying to give myself some grace but finding it hard. Those days are the worst. But you’re doing great!

And an occasional piece of chocolate. I’m currently trying to work out some personal rules that will give a little more wiggle room without me completely spiraling out of control. I feel like occasional cheat meals will be important for long term success but once a week sounds like a lot, maybe twice a month? I don’t know, just thinking out loud. I know you’re not suppose to weigh yourself, but I cheated today and I’m down 13 pounds. As amazing as that sounds it also makes me feel horrible that I had that much bloat/whatever that dropped as soon as I started eating clean. Like how horrible have I been treating my body before now

nochill - I'm going to hop in and say that the one thing about whole30 that worked for me is that there is not a calorie count. I'm sure I eat way over what is "recommended" but I definitely felt better and lost 15lbs each after pregnancies. Pay attention to when you are full. Take small bites, chew them fully and drink water with meals. Some days are hunger days though. If you've worked out hard, or you've been sick, your body knows when it needs to refuel. The hardest part is to let go of the guilt. Don't mindlessly eat, but don't beat yourself up if you feel you are over an arbitrary amount. The point of this is to pay attention, not to deprive in the traditional "diet" sense.

I felt bad that my body was so addicted to sugar and other crap that I was literally having a physical reaction to not eating that stuff.

nochill I've absolutely had days like you've described. For me, it's especially hard right now with the temperatures being so cold, because what I really want to do is be 100% sedentary and eat everything in sight. Hopefully you can will yourself to get back on track mentally! May be easier said than done but fx and GL! I'm still here, too. My weight drop has slowed, for the reasons I just stated above. I'm absolutely overeating even though I'm remaining compliant. Also I thought I was feeling great but only just in the last couple days has the sugar headache hit me. My eyes are sore, my teeth hurt. No fun at all.

anarossi and nochill, the cold weather is definitely making me struggle too. Cooking and eating is entertainment for me, especially when it's too cold to go out and do anything else. I'm trying to break that mentality.

Our furnace went out at 3am. I went to work until 11 and am now at home waiting for the service people. I have bones roasting in olive oil and garlic in the oven to bring some heat into the house and then I'm going to make bone broth with them. My house smells heavenly right now. Oh no! I hope it's fixed quickly!!

this week has been a hot mess! I am all over the place with all the overtime.
I will meal plan tonight! I was so overwhelmed I let DS cook yesterday haha. He's five. We had bagels and alphaghetti, which he was very proud of! I'll give him points for using a pot to cook the alphagetti rather than the microwave. haha.
I feel like I need some inspiration, my meals have been pretty boring. Off to stalk pinterest for more whole 30 instant pot recipes..

I'm trying to break that mentality. YES! and when you're stuck inside, a glass of wine makes it seem more exciting too. I wouldn't mind finding some fun recipes. Maybe I can make a fancy drink with club soda and frozen berries and lime juice or something to help.

I've been doing this date sweetened Golden Milk in the evening to unwind. And, I don't know how strict you are being, but I also like to have a glass of seltzer with lime and a couple drops of bitters (technically alcohol and not allowed, but IMO it's negligible). I have it in a fancy glass while I cook dinner (which is when I usually have a glass of wine), and I think it's helped me to replace that habit.

YIKES! I'm glad you'll have your bone broth to help you warm up, but I hope your heat comes back soon! I'm sorry, I realized you might be vegan. I'm sorry if my talking about bone broth is offensive. And ignore me if you aren't vegan. Lol. It's not offensive at all! I don't eat bone broth, but I genuinely meant that I hope you enjoy yours and it warms you!

Also, I'm not vegan. I was at one point in my life, and I eat vegan probably 80% of the time, but I also eat some fish about once/ week and I'll eat eggs. So I'm pescetarian/ veganish, but not vegan.
