Started off the day swimming some laps. Going to meal plan and head to the farmers market and grocery. I have a ton of turnips from past CSA’s and more coming that I need to figure out how to use.

I know it's only day 5....but I'm cheating tonight. Also, I'm probably not going to call tomorrow day 1. That's discouraging. My IL's are going away for 2 months (snow birds!) tonight is our last night to have a sitter until February when we have an event planned & will pay a sitter. So we're going for dinner. It's something we've had planned & I figured it was better to start w/ everyone here knowing I had a cheat meal planned. I do think I'll keep going until the event in early February so I can look/feel my best.
Today's plan: B: veggie scramble w/ roasted potatoes L: shredded chicken, sweet potato/Apple mash, veggies all mixed together D: ?

Ali7P enjoy your evening! Life happens. You’re doing great and it’s just practice for when you indulge and then get back into it

Ali7P, I hate the whole, “cheat and you have to start all over from day 1” mentality. It sets people up to fail. Enjoy your dinner out, get back on track the next day, and don’t worry about what the official W30 gurus say about it!

Tomorrow I'm cooking a whole chicken so I'll use that during the week. I'm also going to make shepherds pie for lunches. I'll be chopping veggies & roasting some sweet potatoes too.

I did mostly leftovers today. Also went grocery shopping and spent a lot more than usual but I did stock up on a lot of compliant staples that I was missing. I’m hungry so I’m going to have some cashews.

Made a breakfast skillet for supper, and tomorrow I’ll have to do a bit of planning. I had a lot of success getting supper on the table this week with everything planned out!

I went off the rails last night, but getting back on track today. Except we're going out w/ my IL's & parents for Mexican food. I'm going to do my best to stay compliant. Today's meals- B: bowl of chopped apples & bananas w/ almond butter & coconut flakes. (Yum!) L/D: Mexican (we're meeting at 3:00)

We had friends over last night. We find these kind of gatherings to be the most difficult to stay on track. Thankfully one of the other couples is also doing the whole 30, so we had veggies and whole 30 ranch dip, and compliant chips (okay so I know chips are not compliant for their nature of food, but ingredients wise they were okay), and soda stream water with fresh squeezed lemon and limes. We played a game and still had a ton of laughs! Honestly that's probably one of the first times a get together with friends had no alcohol! (maybe that's for a confessions thread).

I’ve been terrible at checking in but have done pretty well in the last week. No major slips, although I forgot legumes we’re a no no and made green beans with dinner one night. We’re doing a whole 30 version of wings tonight and I’m excited for something that kind of feels like a treat

You can do it Ali7P! Can you look up the menu ahead of time and figure out what you’ll order. Fajitas minus the tortillas are usually a good bet!

Back to Day 1 for me. I had my daughter's Daisy troop over for a pizza party last night and it was over withing 5 minutes. I'm weak.

Friday was CD1 for me (25+ years of menstruating and I am still caught off guard every month) which made me want to eat everything in sight. I somehow managed to stick to approved foods but ate way too much. LUnch on Saturday was a chicken thigh, some poultry sausage, a few slices of bacon, roasted veggies, a salad, a handful of olives... it was not pretty. So my goal this week is scaling it back.
Today's plan: B- 3 eggs scrambled and a 1/2 avocado with hot sauce, plus a 1/2 grapefruit. Someone here mentioned grapefruit last week and it lit a fire under me. I've been inhaling them ever since. L- Paprika chicken thighs, roasted mushrooms/zucchini/onion, and fresh mixed berries S- Banana and a mini cucumber D- Scallops piccata over spinach

Yesterday I prepped ribs, slaw, pan-roasted salmon, baked chicken breasts, and steamed cauliflower. The ribs-an entire rack-disappeared at dinner between the four of us. I made compliant mayo/slaw dressing so we had coleslaw with our ribs. I'm using the rest of the slaw (I made a big bag and kept it undressed) to make a chopped salad for lunches with chicken and oranges and a ginger sesame dressing. The cauliflower I will mash and have with the salmon and some sauteed mushrooms. H asked for tacos, which I think I'll have on top of a sweet potato with avocado and black olives (suck it haters).

One week in (or just about, depending on when you started): how's everyone feeling?
I was struggling yesterday, but I weighed myself today and I'm 6(!) pounds lighter. I know most of that is just water weight, but it's definitely a motivator to keep going!

I ended up eating some non compliant yesterday (I can't resist the tortilla chips!!) And last night I started getting sick, nausea, chills, aches. I've been in bed all day & just had a bit of dry cereal to see if I can keep it down. I'll start again when I'm feeling better.

I’m feeling good. I stayed on track over the weekend which is huge for me.
I did a kale salad for lunch with chicken and dump ranch. I am going to get hungry soon because some of the kale tasted off so I didn’t eat it all.
