I ended up eating some non compliant yesterday (I can't resist the tortilla chips!!) And last night I started getting sick, nausea, chills, aches. I've been in bed all day & just had a bit of dry cereal to see if I can keep it down. I'll start again when I'm feeling better. I hope the sickness passes quickly and you feel better soon!

nochill, I am constantly wanting to try Siete chips! I hear about them on all of the podcasts but I don't think I can buy them in Canada. There is an amazing local tortilla company here though that are GF and I love them.

Hi everyone! Hope you don’t mind if I join in. I just started my whole30 today. I did a full one a couple of years ago and had great success with it, and I’ve since gone in phases of eating only compliant foods- although lately my eating has been horrible. I just had a baby in November so I’m trying to get the last of the baby weight off.
B- egg/banana pancakes (I don’t care about swypo as long as the ingredients are compliant), almond butter, strawberries L- tuna salad with homemade mayo, sugar snap peas, apple D- pulled pork, roasted sweet potatoes, green beans

We did well over the weekend and even today! I made 'salsibury steak' and mashed potatoes with asparagus yesterday. It was SO good! If anyone is craving some good, compliant comfort food, try this recipe! www.paleorunningmomma.com/paleo-salisbury-steak-meatballs-whole30/ I made extra meatballs (pro tip, I put the rolled meatballs into mini muffin tins and baked them in the oven!). Then tonight I made zucchini noodles, with meatballs and tomato sauce. Had a salad for lunch with pineapple and kiwi (no dressing).

I know this sounds like a paid endorsement but I have to admit I'm honestly surprised at how much energy I have on Whole30. Breakfast is hands-down my favorite meal of the day now, and I'm consistently making it all the way to lunch without needing a snack. And black coffee? Not so bad after all.

OK. Back on track today. I'm feeling so much better. I basically stayed in bed all day yesterday until it was time to parent again at 2:30 when my parents dropped of DD2 (they were nice enough to keep her for most of the day!) This isn't exactly how I thought my W30 would go. Starting at Day 1 again today makes Day 30 the next time I get to go out kid free (FX I find a sitter, that is!).
I'm glad I meal prepped on Sunday morning before I got sick. I have all of my lunches for the week, a whole pulled chicken and cut up veggies. Today's plan: B: veggie scramble, 1/2 clementine (I ate what DD1 didn't finish) L: shepherds pie (I used a mix of sweet & white potato, summer squash, zucchini & onion, and ground beef) D: fajita bowls w/ cauliflower rice Snacks: I have an apple, clementine & almonds with me at work. I'll probably eat them all.

Glad you’re feeling better Ali7P! I wouldn’t worry about going back to day 1. Life happens and you’re back on track now.

Breakfast is hands-down my favorite meal of the day now, and I'm consistently making it all the way to lunch without needing a snack. And black coffee? Not so bad after all. This was my biggest take away from my 1st W30 - eating a big enough breakfast to not need a snack mid-AM. It's freeing to not worry about it, especially during my weekly meeting that runs 9-10:30. For my eggs I'm eating 4 for breakfast. It seems like so much but my total for breakfast is under 450 cals, drinking black coffee cuts out about 50 cals too! Did anyone else try holding as many eggs as you can in one hand w/o dropping any? I read that it's how to get your egg portion when eggs are the primary source of protein in that meal. For me, it's 4. And it's seems right.

Ali7P Glad you're feeling better! It's hard to focus on much else when you're under the weather. You still have plenty of time for success this month so I'm glad you're sticking with it! My breakfast is usually 3 eggs since I've been adding in meat when I can, but I don't think 4 is unreasonable at all.

I'm not feeling great today and I am jonesin' for some sort of grain– rice, farro, ramen, anything... I keep telling myself that the craving will pass, and I'll feel proud of myself and lighter and healthier at the end of the month. Must stay strong!

I'm so impressed with everyone. I find myself cheating at least once a day. Like today, I had Chick fil a nuggets, however I did consciously get unsweet tea (unusual for me) and plan to eat whole tonight. Yesterday, I cheated and had a root beer with dinner...it was divine, but not worth the sugar or calories. I work out so hard and then sabotage myself with my food intake. Grrr, I'll get there, but in the meantime, you ladies continue to inspire me and know that even when you're not doing it perfectly it helps motivate me to do better!

We end up eating so many potatoes I find. DH is doing it with me and he is basically a meat and potatoes guy. I do try to have other meals without them. Last night was zucchini noodles, meatballs and pasta sauce.
I did well today. Lara bars save my life at work. Work is straight up bananas these days, so I find it really hard to carve out time to eat, and then am starving heading home. I also try to keep almonds or cashews in my purse to get me over the hump to make dinner.

I feel like I can notice a difference in the mirror, especially in my face. I wish I had stepped on the scale when I started, but I packed the damn scale. So have to go by before and after pics. The before pics are....not pretty. Lol

Still on track! My fajita bowl was delish last night! I used pulled chicken from the whole one I made Sunday, peppers, onions, cauliflower rice & this seasoning recipe: www.emilyeatsrealfood.com/whole30-approved/whole30-approved-taco-seasoning/ I cooked it all in a skillet until the cauliflower rice browned a bit. I added salsa & avocado. Then I used the leftovers in my eggs this morning! Lunch will be shepherds pie and dinner will be leftover chicken w/ salad. Aside from those slip ups I'm feeling good about my nutrition so far. So I now need to focus on getting my workouts back to the consistency they were before Christmas.

I have found that having portable breakfast I can eat at my desk has been a recipe for success. I'm usually too rushed and not hungry getting the kids out the door in the AM, so it's nice to get to my desk and eat. I think next week I'm going to try egg cups in the muffin tray on Sunday to eat throughout the week.

I eat a ton of potatoes on whole30. I roast two big pans of white potatoes and sweet potatoes on Sunday and eat them all throughout the week.

Today is my day 3!
B- roasted potatoes and 3 over easy eggs L- shredded pork, green beans, probably more potatoes ha D- leftover marinara meat sauce over zucchini, salad with dump ranch
Does anyone have dreams about eating noncompliant food? It happened to me all the time during my last round, and just started again last night. I dreamt I ate bread and cheese. I was so pissed at myself for cheating!

I had a dream the other night about having a flourless chocolate cake and red wine. In the middle of eating them, I remembered they were off limits, and got really upset and stressed. It's so bad we can't even enjoy these indulgences in our dreams!

Wegmans carries a W30-compliant Andouille sausage that is blowing my mind. Made it for dinner last night and had the leftovers today with a veggie saute.
Sidenote: why is there sugar in sausage?!

Day 9. Must not hate life. Must keep going. Things will be so much better in a few days! This is me too. I’ve definitely passed the exciting new gung-ho phase and am starting to lose motivation. I also had never realized how much I ate of my kids plate until this week

I’m “cheating” tonight and having a lettuce wrapped pea protein based veggie burger (technically not compliant, but IDGAF), homemade baked sweet potato “fries” and homemade chipotle mayo. I’m excited.

I did salsa chicken and veggies for dinner. I found compliant salsa at Aldi of all places. My husband says I worship at the alter of Aldi. They have a great brand of compliant bacon and sausage. The brand is called Never Any. My daughter also loves their gluten free chicken nuggets and they aren't stupid expensive. Ohh I’ll have to check it out! I love that place.

nochill, I put radishes on my tacos all of the time, so I definitely think it will work. It’ll be different from a tomato salsa, but still good. The radish jicama combination is one of my favorites!
