I have no hopes for any good relationship dynamics from these movies. I like the push and pull of reylo. It's different. It reminds me of Buffy and Spike.
In order for her to be a grey jedi they have to be together. He's her pull to the dark and she's his pull to the light.
But as I said before, no one in Star Wars is allowed to be happy, so we just should get any meaningful relationship hopes out of the way now.

Can I tell you something I don’t love though? Maybe someone has a read on this. So back in TFA, Kylo reads Rey’s mind and tells her she’s lonely, she misses her parents, etc etc all this stuff that jives with her character. What Rey pulls from Kylo is that he’s worried he will never be as strong as Darth Vader.
I kind of hate it. I kind of brushed past it when I first saw TFA because it was left vague what exactly “finish what you started” meant. I actually thought maybe he was trying to bring balance to the force like Anakin was supposed to, but he couldn’t bring his light and dark into balance and that’s why he was so confused and fucked up. But that’s not the case after seeing TLJ. So is his whole motivation just “I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was”?

I came across a post on pintrest that goes over what Kylo's motivations are now after killing snoke. I'm desperately trying to find it again because it explains it so much better than I could.

If you find it, I’ll take a look. In TLJ it seemed like it was burn it all down and build your own new world. Which is fine, and I like it, and it isn’t “being stronger than Darth Vader” which I find so lame.

It's made clear that smoke was manipulative and abusive as fuck in the scene he berates Kylo right before he destroys his mask, but 29 years is a bit much. The "finish what he started" was the chant of a desperate boy trying to live up to being evil when he wasn't. The scene in TFA where he has to literally punch his wounds to create enough pain to stimulate the dark within him. He's not pure evil. He has dark tendencies. When Kylo destroyed the Kylo Ren mask he destroyed his want to be like Vader since that was his tie to Vader.

But there was mental manipulation and abuse from Snoke from when he was a young child long before he every burned the Jedi Temple down.

I'm also going to post this one because it blows my fucking mind that everyone washed their hands of this shit and the fan base still loves the original trio.

Yeah, they were all kind of failures there. When Luke was like, I sensed his darkness and knew Snoke was there... I'm like so contemplating murder was obviously the way to go? WTF man.

I could talk SW all day. DH and I have had conversations on what balance in the Force actually means. I mean, the Jedi council was all, eradicate the Dark Side, then we'll have balance.... That's not balance. There is no light without dark behind it.

No wonder Kylo was all murderous rage at the end and wanted to destroy him. Every. single. person abandoned/betrayed him. And unlike Anakin, who just twisted reality in his own mind, these events actually happened to Ben Solo. It's really shitty too how Luke just gtfo to another planet to die and left everyone else to clean up the mess HE MADE! Fucking Skywalkers!

I mean, I’m wrong, but looks like the plot is going there now with Rey. And I am here for it.

Anakin was a fucking mess in the prequels and the council ignored it and exacerbated it and I’m so glad Luke got to call it out in this movie.

Anakin was a fucking mess in the prequels and the council ignored it and exacerbated it and I’m so glad Luke got to call it out in this movie. They took a kid who had been a slave his whole life and separated him from his one comfort, i.e. his mother, then degraded him when he got to the Council. And then they put him in charge of guarding padme, when there was obviously a strong connection there from her being the only nice person to a poor 8 year old slaveboy. And how did nobody realize she was pregnant? They got lazy and complacent in their position for the Republic. They were basically a police force that the Republic used when they wanted to make people comply. I have a lot of issues with the prequels. The Jedi are just one part of it. I have always had issue with the no connections thing. People crave connection. It makes them stronger, not weaker.

I usually go straight to YouTube but I think they are all linked here: redlettermedia.com/plinkett/star-wars/They are book ended with a running joke narrative of the narrator being a serial killer. I don’t know why, but just so you know. But the actual commentary is solid.

It was hinted at in the first episode and the person talking was interrupted and I almost punched the TV.
