Thankfully the grade school let us know they'll be bringing all of the kids outside to view the eclipse; they had rec'd a donation of glasses. Hopefully my four-year-old wears them correctly.
I forgot to grab glasses at the library so will just be going outside with my kitchen colander because I'm not crafty enough to attempt the cereal box creation.

That was the coolest thing. Dd loved it so much.
H got to see it at work but I wish he was home with us.

If there had been no cloud cover it would have been even more amazing.

Just generally it was cloudy and has been all day. We were worried we wouldn't be able to see anything.

There was some cloud cover but it all went away about 5 minutes before our peak time. We are all home. DD1 and H would have been home while DD2 and I should have been at school still. But DD1 was coughing a lot and threw up so I picked her up early.

It was completely clear here, which we didn't expect. Being outside with probably 2000+ people was wild. They all cheered like it was a sporting event. I can't wait to hear what DS thought of it.

We missed totality somehow but still got to see a bit. DS was petrified of hurting his eyes so he had the glasses pinned to his face with his hands.

We saw a few glimpses of partial eclipse through the clouds leading up to totality but it was still so cool to experience.

A huge band of clouds came through right at the peak but we had a good view until just before. ππ

Iβm so glad we drove to totality, it was super cool. I brought my sister, niece and nephew too and weβre staying over another night because they live close by.

Totality just happened here it really did get colder and dark like night time. It was so cool. That was exactly our experience here. I was so worried that the clouds would come in and obscure the view/effect but most of the sky was so blue and clear with just a few scattered cirrus clouds. Absolutely stunning and MH and I loved watching it all unfold right in our backyard.

Honestly that (100% totality) was one of the most incredible things Iβve ever seen. We didnβt have much cloud cover. It was awesome. Iβm so glad we made an effort to see it.

I turn 40 this week and yet Iβm fine with it π My sister also will most likely have the baby this week so I will become and auntie again. I got to spend time with her and the kids yesterday. I know we arenβt supposed to have our favorites but my nephew gets me in the feels every time with his hugs and need to be right next to me Girl I've found my 40s so freeing. Don't get me wrong, perimenopause sucks balls, but I've truly reached peak DGAF. Welcome to the club, baby.

angelashly, I'm two years ahead of you but I feel like 45 is gonna be what gets me. I think 45 is so meh for me because it's now an infamous number. But I'm already starting to think about the party I'm going to throw myself for my 50th!

Also TMI my body has decided that a celestial event is a great time to start my period, a week early! And send a river of blood pouring from me. So I'm miserable I got mine over the weekend but it was HORRIFIC and I blame the moon and eclipse.

Clearly I'm just catching up and talking to myself. It got super cloudy here just before so I didn't even try to see anything. I was at a 0 about it anyway but NBC was on at the nail salon and it was full coverage pretty much the entire time I was there.

We drove about 3 hours to be in totality and it was AMAZING. So so so cool. We didnβt see totality in 2017 so Iβm happy it all worked out today.

Back to school today, thank goodness. π
DS went to school too, and I was able to get some stuff done around the house. I also just zoned out and watched an episode Summer House to catch up.
The camping trip is cancelled this weekend, which is fine with me. One less softball game that DD1 will miss this season. She and H are at softball practice right now, and Iβm outside watching the littles scooter around the patio. Itβs nice this afternoon.

Totality was amazing! DS1 and SS were enthralled and so was I! Just an incredible experience. The birds near us started singing their morning songs afterwards. So surreal.

Thanks! Iβve been an old soul since I was young anyway so itβs fine with me! my doctor said I'm nowhere near peri menopause. π€·π»ββοΈ I'm honestly jealous. My doctor thinks it's because I started my period early (11yo) and was never pregnant, plus I didn't tolerate BC well so only took it for a couple of months in college. Basically I've been ovulating/menstruating every month for almost 35 years so I started peri on the earlier side.

I am 46 and I feel like Stella when she got her groove back. My 20s were wild. Probably too wild. In my 30s I met my husband, got married, had a kid, bought a house, had another kid. Non stop change.
Now my kids are 9 and 12 and I have so much time for me and my friends and my interests. I have found my 40s very freeing.
Except for the hot flashes and being a chauffeur for my kids to their myriad of activities and friends, but definitely much more free time and I am not exhausted.

I feel like Iβm the only person that hasnβt really enjoyed my 40s! I mean my actual life is great and I love where we are but my body worked a heck of a lot better until about age 38. Since then itβs been nothing but betrayal. Physically I feel so much older than 45. Between peri, my various AI disorders, and a new neurological disorder I donβt love it.

We're back home after a whirlwind of a 3 day weekend. We drove 17.5 hours over 3 days but at least the traffic really wasn't bad. I'm glad to be sitting at my desk with coffee.
